I think I must have seen 12 videos yesterday. Decided to give a listen to just one more, and I've got to tell you, this was THE best schooling I've heard. Thanks for explaining the details and the names cause people like me don't know what everything is called. Love you old-timers too. Nothing like old school know how. Need to connect stairs from basement going up to bulkhead and they have to go into concrete. Any suggestions Larry??? Love to hear from ya. ❤
That is a septic tank and not a cistern. Those tanks are not designed to be buried empty. Rainwater cisterns will be empty at times. While you may get away with it in certain soil conditions the manufacturer will not warranty the tank if it collapses from groundwater pressure when empty. Pay a little more and buy a tank that is designed to be buried empty and carries a warranty for the application.
No 2*4 on the stringer against the wall just made the drywall hangers job harder and the trim carpenter job harder. Showing how to measure and cut stringers yes
Watching that hammer hitting those nails so perfectly n accurately, n the precision cuts w the saw, were like therapy to me...ahhhhhhh......carpenter yoga 🧘♀️
this is great! you can see the late 80s pickup in the back of the shot, no safety gear. No nail gun or screws. His saw/hammer technique is amazing, fast and efficient. I wish I could work with someone like that.
I hope i get an answer I don't understand how going in 3/4" from the end of the top and bottom. Plates causes the sheetricks to line up perfectly with the studs spaced 16" apart? 2nd why mark a line at every 16 then place an x next to the line which is also where the stud will be fatened and placed ?
The only thing I question is adding that extra inch. It technically grows the span by an inch and could possibly run the stairs past a wall by an inch.
master framer we dont use 7" risers and 10" treads anymore though, its too steep to walk up.....try to get it around 6" rise and 12 or 13 inch tread.....unavoidable at times but much more comfortable to walk up
Watched many of these building series from 1992 from the GodFather of carpentry building. This music was added, way after the fact by some Yahoo that felt music is more important than Larry's words of instruction- Stupid music , and dumb Bang captions added.
I live in an area with lots of old stone houses, they are mostly two story and two foot thick, nice stones on the inside and out with ruble in the middle. Why don't modern people mortar their stone directly to the block or cement wall so it is a single thermal mass? I notice the bank building built in 1918 was tile block and brick veneer but it has no space either, just brick mortared to the tile blocks? I have never seen a solid masonry wall have its outside layer fall off but notice a lot of 20 year old homes have the brick ties fail and the whole face falls off. I enjoy your videos but just wondered what the logic was with the air space? I live in high desert where its fairly dry so humidity isn't a big issue so I want to do it like they used to, is there a reason why I should reconsider? Thank you
You fucked up his perfect explanation by putting stupid visuals over it can't see half the information because of it
بسیار خوب..ایران
Is he still working? Great teacher .

this dude is the real deal... not to many of this kind left out there.
This man was and will always be a great carpenter
What is this shitty obnoxious editing and music? Just let the man fucking talk.
Thank you very much Sr see ya later from Alaska 😊
These two are pretty slick with a hammer. I bet they end up building a lot of houses.

Keep up the good work brother
Love how the music alternates between sexy jazz music then to backyard farm music
He is very good at the hammer. Very impressed.
Always wear a dust mask!!! Cement dust is really really bad for your lungs

Fuck ice
I don’t know who this pro is. But obviously he was well respected and I can see why. Def a pro’s pro
Look at that wood, nice tight grain pattern. Lumber is not the same today
First!
RIP LEGENDS
Get rid of thT annoying background music
I would not cut like that, let the saw stop on the corner then finish it off with a jig or hand saw.
What's with the yellow box drawing/overlay @1:47?
You have effectively made a beautiful instructional video into a distracted mess 🤣
That's some groovy stair music ~~>

Where did Larry get the 10” run from?
In the picture it looks like a concert block and stone wall.
7:47 ahh didn't leave room for the drywall to slide in between
What a legend!
me: gotta re-do my stairs DIY youtube: here's a chill hippy that looks like he knows wtf he's doing......
all stairs CODE would require 2 2x4" compression at the top. imo
Very very helpful. I might need to be on your show
why add the distracting music and graphics ?
Get rid of the background music !
The funky ass beat line that kicks in....im waiting on Dre or Snoop to start rapping.

”One meishurment”
The background music is distracting. The first track sounds like a porn vid from 1925.😂
Is there a version of this without the muzak playing over him?
No deal with it
I just keep thinking of his poor back, hes stooped over all day

Always at an angle. Yet the kid doesn't listen to something he was Just told to do. :D. Gotta love dumb workers. :P
Don't know why you're playing music when teaching.
Stealing larrys videos 🤡 your pathetic
The fact you added background music to steal this dead mans work is sad.
The music is unecessary. His voice is like turkey gravy on an old fashioned family Thanksgiving feast.
