OMG YOUR MAKING ME WANNA CHOP MY SAVAGE EVEN MORE!! GOT A FOLLOWER FOR SURE
Haha, yeah! Just do it and let me know how it goes! Thanks! ✌️
Well I really think it's a great upgrade to any shop . Easy access to an air supply is a whole lot better and safer than running airlines all over the place and creating trip hazards . The fact you used a large enough bore to start with will be a great bonus for capacity rather the bar pressure . Its more how much airflow you get than how hard it is ie PSI or Bar. Brilliant having the regulator at the last point in both lines should allow removal of condensation in the line before you need it at the tool . Yup the only ball ache is the pipe is a hard plastic that doesn't do tight bends ... and yes why were you still wearing the ear muffs lol ( nice n warm ears lol) .. there are actual push fit connections for the pipe but from what I've seen they are a bit on the bulkier side so great choice on the compression joints .. thumbs up for a great video proving it's not that hard to supply all the shop with air . Cheers Brother
Thanks for your comment! I've already gotten a ton of usage out of that air line and I don't really know how I got by without it before. 😅 I saw the push connectors when doing my research, but they ended up more expensive and harder to get a hold of, so I ended up going with these and I'm glad I did! It's definitely not hard and totally worth it! Cheers!
Second day with my 650 savage the engine seized as I was slowing down for a traffic light. Long push home. Previous owner mentioned that he had looked at the chain tensioner and thought the modification had been done. I will be opening the sude up to see if the tenshioner is off causing the seized engine. I will check the sprocket as well. What other things should I check to determine the extent of the damage. Your videos are great. I just finished all that you made involving the Savage.
Shit, it actually seized on you? Have you checked the Savage forum? Should be some threads on there regarding what to check. I guess there's quite a few pieces that can get damaged. Thanks for watching the videos! And keep me posted about your bike, would be interesting to see what you find inside that cover and what actually caused the seizing. Good luck!
I came for the bikes and got a free class on the application of Newton's laws of motion! AWESOME
Haha, sorry! Glad you liked it! 🤘 How's it going? Are you making anything gnarly for your bikes?
I’m with you. They are loud. Hard to hear the difference. I couldn’t on mine. But I got it. It had 100 mi on it sat for a decade. I got it running then oil stared to come out of tailpipe. That when I said damn it can only be the rings. Idk.
I agree with you! That's too bad! I'm no expert, but rings sounds plausible.
Good video. But I’m looking for one that shows how to do piston rings on same s40/savage
Thanks! I'm not planing on doing piston rings anytime soon, hopefully someone else will!
Just got mine I like but after a bit of investigation I realised its provided with a u-groove roller which is more suited to aluminium welding if you want best results order a knurled roller for gasless welding
That's interesting. Never looked at that. Thanks for the heads up!
is there a cheap welder that can weld aluminium too?
Sorry, I can't give you any recommendation on that. Maybe someone else can?
Hi just done my Honda st1100 slave rebuid , seals new spring , put piston back into slave cylinder housing , tiny bit of break fluid rubbed around both inside & outer piston , but does not spring back can just keep pushing until all the way down any ideas what's wrong please?
Did you maybe put the seal on the wrong way?
No the problem is the same as before went at slave got slave working springing but same rattling sound when put into first no move , had feedback from other users saying to check shaft spline on wheel I think, maybe grease gon been there 25 yrs, @@HeavyMetalParkingSpot
@@brocky78 Sorry, I don't have any more ideas. I hope you'll find someone who can help you and you can get your bike back on the road!
You cannot run mig with pure argon. Mig needs some amount of reactive gas. The wire you are using is an ER70S-6, you need to run either 75/25 argon/c02, or 100% c02.
You're right. Thanks for pointing that out! Personally I switched to 100% CO2.
Using the provided welding glasses is a mistake someone only makes once..... My very first welding experience was with glasses similar to that.. spent a few hours welding that evening, not knowing the stupid amounts of UV that comes off a welding arc. Got up the next morning, rubbed my face and almost yeeted myself off the balcony. It felt like I literally just rubbed my face off my skull. Only after seeing my incredibly burnt face in the mirror did I find out about the UV..... so for any newbies here: for the love of everything that is skin related, please buy a proper auto-shutter welding helmet!
Oh shit! Thanks for sharing that story! A really important reminder to use proper safety equipment. Actually kind of pisses me off that they send crap like that out to beginners who doesn't know better. Would be better to send nothing and encourage the user to get something proper.

can I look at your wiring diagram somewhere?
I haven't felt confident enough to share the wiring diagram. But I get so many requests that I'm considering making another video where I go through it all together with a wiring diagram.
I did a peanut tank too, but im having problems with the cap, where i can fin the cap kit? 6:11 (The piece that goes in the tank and the cap) Thank you
That's awesome! I actually picked it up at a local motorcycle parts dealer, sorry I can't provide you with a link. But I bought the weld-in part and the cap separately. I hope you'll find one!
I can't get my transmission cover back on. The spring keeps flopping around and when I get it on it is to tight to even change gears🙃 any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Are you talking about the plate that holds the clutch springs or the actual outside cover? The outside cover should have no spring, so I guess you're not talking about that? When putting the clutch springs back, torque them diagonally to make sure you're not over-tightening them. Explain your problem further and I'll try to help. 😀
@HeavyMetalParkingSpot thank you for the response I wish I could upload a picture but idk how but I believe it's the outside plate with bout 10-12 screws. It seems that when I put it on the armed the pushes in when you pull in the clutch will not move at all after I tighten down the plate. I took the little spring off cause it didn't seem to do much at all. And it basically still locks up to the point I can't even pull in my clutch. If there is a way I can send you a picture or a video please let me know thank you again!
@@13at42z When you put the cover back on you need to push the clutch-thingy up, so that it seats correctly. You can find me on Instagram and drop me a picture there.
Very nice vid thank you
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Hi! I really enjoy watching your videos working on your Savage! Could you please share your opinion about the bike and sitting position, I'm 185cm of height and thinking of getting exactly this one, but I'm a bit unsure if it's going to be a bit too small for me
Hey! Thank you! You're just a few cm taller than me. I would lie if I told you that this bike isn't small. But I don't think it's too small. Personally I like smaller bikes, it makes them more nimble I think. Replacing the bars made it more comfortable for me as well, and there's tons of bars to chose from. Not what you want to hear, but my best advice would be to go sit on one and see if you like it. I think they are really fun bikes! Good luck!
@@HeavyMetalParkingSpot Thank you for your advise! I already got a bit too hyped about LS650 so I'm most likely gonna get it, but will definitely try sitting on it first 🙌
@@evgeny6692 Haha, that happens to the best of us! 😀 Just go for it! You can check out the video where I ride it to get a feeling for how small it is.
I will buy this, thanks to this vid
Good luck with your new welder! ✌️
my pressure is 5.0 which should be the pressure in the engine
5.0 in what unit? PSI? You should have about 140 PSI.
low compression on my suzuki savage 650 do wont help me
What have you tried so far? Put a bit of oil in the spark plug hole and see if that improves anything.

I am not sure why on MIG mode, you adjust Amperage with the WIRE SPEED button. Perhaps you use Inches per minute instead of mm and even so you are short of the specs. There is no visible change on the speed of the wire motor. That's weird.
First of all, I'm far from an expert on welding, I'm sure someone that is could chime in here. But it seems like wire speed and amperage is supposed to be related. And, I'm not sure the wire speed has a unit on these machines? Isn't it just a random number?
Great video! I just had to take the engine of the BMW R80 out of the frame. I fortunately had a friend who helped me. On my own it would probably have been quite a struggle without any of your methods.

Hi ! Love your videos about the Savage. Do you think I could bend my came chain guide to match the new one ? (Avoiding buying a new one)

what's up dude. hello from iceland. i have a 1987 Bobber Savage LS650 that had for about 2 years and i resived it in parts and i the wirering has been a mess so i have not done anything on the bike sence i had it ( bought it for about 360 bucks it's about 50k ISK ) and now i'm starting working on it again. Your vids are helping me alot how ever the more i can cut out of the wires the better like the Decompression selenoid and so on ( could you send me your wire diagram via email ? )
Hi! That's an awesome bike! I hope you get it running. I've decided to not release my wiring diagram, since I'm not 100% sure it's correct. However, I've been considering doing another, more detailed, video about wiring, since I've gotten quite a few requests about it.
As always, great video! Do you think these things just happen, so you can stay true to your motto "Ride Never, Wrench Forever"? :D
Thanks man! Haha, good question, but things like these sure do help! 😅
excelente!
Thanks! ✌️
Mine makes noises too. We've already disassembled it twice, adjusted it, but I believe these are characteristics of this bike.
Yeah, I think so too. Everyone says these engines are noisy, but if you have nothing to compare to it's hard to know how noisy it should be.
Tool is great. I actually just keep it in gear, old the rear brake cable at the back with one hand and use a breaker bar on the nut with the other hand. It sucks.
Thanks! That sounds like a lot of work, but if it works it works!
Awesome thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching! ✌️

Sorry to tell you... but you absolutely can remove the cam cover and swap the chain with the engine in place. I've just finished the job myself.
Really no need to be sorry. I actually just tried it myself, and you're right. It's totally doable! 👍
I found one of these when I rebuilt my engine, probably from a previous repair, I didn't realize at the time what this pin was for, so thanks for the info. Fortunately, I have fitted an oil pressure instrument to my engine, so I am sure that I have oil pressure. 🤞👍
