You can’t fish those docks in a Tourment well not next to launch area
If tournament launches out of that marina it is usually off limits. But the other marinas on the lake are open

Swimbaits are sudden impact 5" pearl, jigheads are Bladerunner striper special 1/2oz 4/0 hook by Brian Willits. and VMC boxer 1/2oz jighead
Caught a 23" & a 26" striper out at limantour beach at point Reyes while fishing from shore with size 4 baitholder hooks & 2" camo gulp worms one hot summer day. Water was very clear & surf was very calm both hit about an hour b4 high tide.
Nice and in the summer months the stripers head out to the beaches usually south of the golden gate bridge. In the fall they come up into the Rio Vista area for the winter.
Hi Alan, Im not getting much luck fishing from SF pier. I will have a car for few days next week. Can you please give me a couple of pointers where to go/drive to fish from a shore in bay area or around SF? Maybe some lake? And what is target fish? Striper or halibut or salmon would be awesome. I would really apreciate the advice. Thank you! Andrew
Sorry I've been in Alaska the last week and haven't heard about local fishing. I'll know more in a few days. Best bet might be striper fishing from the bank around Sherman Island. Friends are catching surf perch around the corner golden gate bridge.
Hi Alan, could you recommend the rod and reel for catching king in the river, like Samish river in Washington. I am afraid my medium light spinning set up is not strong enough to fight those 20 pounder in that shoulder to shoulder combat style fishing. Thank you very much.
You'll probably need a 81/2' to 10' med action rod. Line ratting 10-20# for beads or spinners.

Hey Alan, nice content as always. I'm really committed to going Punching on the Delta could you recommend a really good rod .
I usually take couple rods for punching, one heavy 8' with a 2oz tungsen weight and a 7'6" heavy with a 1oz tungsen. Depending on how dense the cover is to get it to fall thru.

@@AlanFong what kind of spoons. How about a cripple back rapala. I usually soak anchovies. But if that many I will try spoons. I need to go to Sacramento tackle in Northgate. Hey Alan I don't think you mentioned rock fishing this week but I'm pretty sure guys are after them when weather permits.. I was thinking about hitting Rittinburg bank this weekend and my question is do you know where they catch them sand dabs on the way to rock fishing grounds.. Thanks again for the report.
Can't remember but it's wide open. If your going out of Bodega when you get in 250-300ft water on the sandy areas you can catch lots sand dabs. When I go out bottom fishing at Rittinburg in 350 ft I catch lots lings on 8" swimbaits with a 16oz jighead whatever it takes to keep on the bottom. Or catch the small rock fish n catch the hitch hiking lings. I also use iron bars and catch

Yes there are different species of the black cod. The ones in Alaska are bigger in size and taste different.
Great content. The cable holders on the side of the mount have zip tie slots in them to allow you to capture the cable so it doesn't come out on its own.

Thanks Alan! Trying to figure out how to fish a low incoming tide for bass and or stripers. What type of areas would you suggest targeting during the next week or so?
On a low incoming tide now I go after the stripers. I target flat areas where the current is pushing into with sparse grass. Then when the water gets higher I'll switch to the bass and it depends where I'm at. Lately I'm out in Collinsville area to Pittsburg so I'm just targeting stripers.

Yer still launching out of hogback after what happened to yer truck? I used to launch there all the time but so often I would see broken glass and after what happened to you, I don't go there anymore.
Yes I'm still launching there. The county is there on weekends and are charging to get in now. If your early you don't have to pay. There hasn't been any problems but last week a guy fished all night and they broke into his truck at night.
I can't believe you park your Truck over there with out having issues with out ppl breaking into it!
No problems there now as the county cleaned up the pay booth and are there during the weekends charging. They keep that place very clean and the ramp dock is always clean.
Who are the guides that have been catching leopard sharks? I’d like to give them a call

What colors do you use on cloudy days? Can you spoon at night?
When spooning I use either gold or dark green on cloudy days and early mornings. Yes you can spoon at night and use a dark color

Yes the best time is in the fall when the shad ball up and move to the major creek channels to spawn

Hi Alan, did you use bait runner spoon for stripers. How heavy did you use?
Yes I mostly use bladerunner 13/4 and 2 oz spoons. I do make my own also

Not a lot of places but in delta around marinas off Eight Mile rd, Whiskey Slough usually in the fall and winter best. Lakes Amador, Berryessa n Camanche around the marinas

Wondering if you’ve heard anything about Lake Spaulding? Supposedly stocked landlocked kings the past 2-3years. I spent 4hrs targeting them a couple weeks back. Skunked. Marked a Few fish at the right depths but who knows, they could’ve been trout. Do you know if in fact they’re putting king in there??
I have the plants and Spaulding has been planted 2022 24,999 and 2023 25,000 so it should be good
