Hey Erik-I am enjoying watching your journey unfold. Certainly a lot of fine tuning is to be expected for a while. It’s hard to get everything just right from the start. I live out of a Forester as well and really like it as a lifestyle. This would be a major reset for you-but worth pondering to reduce claustrophobia. You could gain another 4” vertically in your rig if you pulled the backseats and fitted your platform lower. The seats also really restrict any space you have underneath. Just a thought-worked well for me. Roll on-Learn much!

Hi Erik, awesome to see a video from you today. Was excited to get home and watch what you've been upto. It was awesome you visited clingmans dome. I've seen it before in video years ago and thought it was so cool looking kinda like a flying saucer. That location is also right near the Appalachian trail, did you go out hiking it at all?? I'm sure it will take awhile to get into a routine with cooking out of the car and nice to see you are making some adjustments too so it will be easier and more comfortable. I had a similar sleeping platform in my Liberty and I found that I couldn't sit up, not even half way. And getting in and out meant 'rolling' sideways. It was a hassle. I pulled it and put a shaped piece of plywood flat on the floor and that was better. Then I got a rooftop tent and everything changed for the (much) better.

I wouldn't be able to run my portable frig and other stuff without solar. I use the Renogy solar suitcases. They really work and will put out 80 to 100 watts for the 100 watt rated ones. The refurbished ones on Amazon were just a little over $100. Get solar cable and run it from the solar to your car parked in the shade. I had the flimsy portable solar panels. They sound good but just don't work like the glass ones. I have 2 of the portable solar suitcases but in the summer when the days are long and there is a lot of sun all I really need is one. I've had several fabric and card board non-glass solar panels. They turn into trash after a short time. The glass type panels are meant to go on the roof of a house and last for 30 years. I'm amazed at how well solar works with good equipment. Looking forward to seeing how your adventure goes on your way up to Maine.

I cannot understand why anybody would want to camp in a teardrop camper … where you can’t stand up - the only thing you can do is lay.down or crouch your head. Does not make any sense to me at all. It’s a fad, a trend, and they will most likely all end up in the dump.

I guess I am wondering about the purpose of this adventure for example: Are you showing people how you could camp, travel, & work for a year on small budget? Are you going to show us some cool "off the beaten path" places to visit? Are you going to talk to local people about the best places to visit and get a non-tourist perspective? You are relateable which makes your videos nice to watch, but I'm wondering what you want to get out of this and why you chose to share? Good luck and wishes to you on your travels.

Oh wow, i know where you camped because I live just north of there.

Highly commercialized places full of tourists are a good thing to avoid as much as possible for many reasons. There are some nice, somewhat remote forested areas in the panhandle that would have been a totally different experience. It sucks losing things all the time. I used to always leave something behind and still do from time to time.

Dude save up for another teardrop. You can get one used for 6 grand or maybe less if you search. I own a Nucamp T@G bomndock. It’s way more expensive but there are cheaper ones.

Hard to fully listen with music. I think the music is manipulative. Keep it real.

Been to NF several times over the decades. It's just a fun get away if you don't live too far. I'm in ne Ohio. With Google maps these days you can really see the street views, reviews of restaurants & attractions and decide what you wanna see & do. And drive a little further north & visit Toronto.

My Wife and I have been watching (and enjoying) all your videos. We purchased a Transit Cargo Van in Nov. First trip to Dauphin Island we just threw the mattress on the bed of the van then slept on the floor with the back door open looking at the stars, it was awesome. I built the sideways bed in the back and went to Texas the end of December. Was awesome! Now we added bathroom, sink, stove and came to Texas (Palo Duro Canyon) then Cripple Creek, Colorado. It is fantastic and we love it!! I’m sharing this with you because I gave you a thumbs down on this video because you are not safe. This country is now full of Illegals looking for prey with Easy Targets. Your “stuff” hanging on the outside of your car invites crime plus you cannot leave it alone for a moment! Please consider changing your vehicle for something you can park then jump in back to cook, sleep, and relax in “stealthy”! Best of Luck and We Are Looking Forward to your Adventures!!

Safe travels! I've done close to 3 months in a "hotel Prius" & plan on doing 6 months eventually. I can give you some good spots in Colorado too for when you're out this way.
