In the movie they literally were running out of scientist less people wanted to be one so

Neil is full of poop on this one, for three major reasons. 1. That biologists failed to figure out the Blight is an extremely minor part of the film. The point is they did fail. This is also irrelevant to the progress of engineering, as those are entirely different fields that the movie shows tackling very different problems. Until Coop sent back the data from the black hole, the engineers had also failed. 2. The quality of education plummeted in the last several years, for bureaucratic and political reasons. We see this when Coop is brought to the school to discuss his daughter and the administration openly expresses disbelief of the moon landing. 3. There was no terraforming in the movie, or suggested afterwards. None of the planets the astronauts visited could be terraformed. Miller’s planet had breathable atmosphere but constant waves that would make settling impossible, Mann’s planet was entirely unliveable, and Edmund’s planet didn’t need terraforming. Neil loves to nitpick, but he’s wrong on this one. His complaints have no merit.

They didn't exactly rely on finding a wormhole, they just happened to find one and were of course trying to have a plan in case of the apocalypse. Otherwise though, yeah, the blight seems to be a problem. It can infect almost any crop and is incurable and mutates to infect new crops. Such a thing existing isn't really logical. No doubt it is some kind of Bioweapon as it would have to be in order to be even 1% as bad as that, but I still cant imagine that there was nothing that could be done to stop it. No GMO plants that are immune? No plants that naturally are immune (the biodiversity is massive, how could it infect everything?) No way to isolate crops so they can't get infected? No Synthesizing food? We got rudimentary Cryo sleep technology, and ships that can take people out to Saturn, but nothing on this? Hell, how would leaving the planet even solve this problem? If this blight really can't be stopped like that, then there is a 100% chance its coming with the ships and infect any food they can grow there. If you could prevent it from getting on the arkships and being a threat, then there would be ways to deal with it on earth without leaving.

Yes, but it would be a boring movie then when they only let the graan grow again, and it cost not much but it will not bring up much either, Interstellar bringup millions.
