Teach your horse to stop quickly and smoothly
zhlédnutí 219Před měsícem
Many horses don't stop as crisply as we'ed like. They end up bouncing forward, turning to the side, running into branches, even into other horses. Teaching them to stop quickly and smoothly is all about teaching them to shift the weight correctly. These three steps will teach them so it becomes second nature to stop much better and with perfect balance. #horse #horselover #horsemanship #horsetr...

My session with a wild and aggressive animal
zhlédnutí 14Před měsícem
She is large and truly dangerous. The techniques I use here can be applied to any difficult and aggressive animal. But, I must always keep my guard up because she is 100% wild and can be very dangerous. This animal was captured in the wild by the Bureau of Land Management as part of their round-up program. She (along with many others) was auctioned off and went straight to a kill pen. Now at a ...

Trailer loading a troubled Rescue Donkey
zhlédnutí 122Před měsícem
This little Donkey had a traumatic experience while loading on a trailer. In this video you will see how I get him over his fear and load freely on the trailer. Note: Donkey's respond very differently than horses and as such need to be handled quite differently. Techniques that work on horses don't necessarily translate well to Donkey's.... And vice-versa. #animalrescue #horse #donkey #horselov...

      @@thomaslogsdon5165 Thanks for your comment … My specialty is helping rescues with animals they have difficulty handling or can’t catch. Some Animals won’t let rescue staff trim feet, take medicine, won’t trailer, are difficult or sometimes dangerous. I specialize in helping these kinds of animals for rescues.

    This is awesome! Thank you for sharing. We just recently got 4 icelandic mares, and we're all learning for the first time. Luckily they are sweet as can be, but I can tell your video just upgraded my ability to remain calm and welcome challenges rather than shy away from them.

    Im glad your video popped up here in East Germany! You are talented, calm and i love your respect for the horses. Im working with my 4 year old right now and enjoying the adventure with him so far. But i noticed that the bit is taking his focus away from me. I wanna try it bitless, but defentily have the voices in my head "he is to green for that". What do you think?

    • @cowboybobtexas
      @cowboybobtexas Před 10 dny

      @carolin6744 I use only side pull bitless bridles on all horses now, green or not. That said, any setup can work, and any can fail. It’s more about how you use your hands. Watch my video on stopping and you'll see how I use bitless. Best of luck!

      The sprayer with water is what I always start with. It's cheaper. I like to just spray around them to begin, then gradually work it toward them, watching for relaxation. When they are good there, then begin spraying them, again watching for the relaxation before going further.

    My friends mother used to make these oat and molasses cookies and I had apple trees at home. I never showed up at the barn without treats. My horse got used to that and I also used to cup my hands together and whistle through my thumbs to let her know I was coming. After a couple months of this she would meet me halfway and I'd get on bareback no halter and off we went. RIP Cleo ❤️
