Ginger's Pismo Clam Chowder Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup of chopped clams
- 3 cups clam juice
- 4 bacon strips, finely chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced small
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 large potato, cut into 1/2-inch dice
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 cup half and half
Directions
1. Over medium-high heat, sauté bacon until it's browned and fat is rendered. Using a slotted spoon, remove bacon. Add diced onion to pot and sauté until translucent.
2. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute, being careful not to brown. Whisk in reserved clam broth. Add potatoes, thyme, and bacon. Simmer 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
3. Stir in cream until warmed through. Add clams and turn off heat. Clams will cook with residual heat.

IYKYK! That “burnt” looking part of the paella is called socarrat, the best part of the dish! Crispy and flavorful, it gives great texture and is super yummy eaten along with the other wonderful parts of the paella!

Yakinasu (roasted eggplant) is so delicious! Quick and easy too! We served it roasted, peeled with Bonita shavings and grated fresh ginger! The sauce is Ajipon (a soy sauce, citrus mix).

Hello! The containers for our bitter melon and cucumbers are 12” across and 13” tall. Capacity is 5 gallons. Go for it and have fun!

Does this work best with indeterminate tomatoes? The growing season in Minnesota is short and the determinate tomatoes would never have time to mature.
I haven’t done a side by side comparison so I can’t answer your question. I would imagine that the variety would make a difference. In the video, I featured an indeterminant tomato. However, personally I have found determinant varieties mature faster.
I heard if you lay them across instead of planting them straight down you yield more sweet potatoes.🤷🏽 but i don't know squat because I've never done it before.
That makes sense if you’re planting slips in ground as opposed to grow bags.
Brine it and smoke at a lower temp. That will eliminate the albumin on top of them.
What temp do you smoke at?
You have your method I have mine I put those suckers in water and wait a week or so then I put them straight in the pot to start growing . Happy gardening 😊

What size planter container/ cups are those and where did you get them and thanks for the video.
Those are 4” nursery pots that I saved from plants I purchased in the past from the garden center. In lieu of those you could use plastic cups. You would just need to make holes in the bottom for drainage.

I actually gave up growing nasubi before I figured out those dang rats were eating and or stealing them. This hack works like a charm 🤙🏼

How many slips do you plant per bag?
In that video, three slips. I’m currently experimenting with one slip in one bag and two in the other.
I tried this recipe and discovered that I really suck at grilling artichokes!
We can relate ... the hardest part of this recipe is pre-cooking the artichokes before grilling. Don't give up and keep at it! Timing is everything. Once you get it right, you'll find the artichokes are sublime! 😋

It’s wonderful to see this fishery make a come back! It’s hasn’t been like this since the mid 1990’s…let’s keep the fishery strong by following the clamming rules. Take legal size clams, bury all under sized and take no more than the limit of 10! Fantastic times ahead!!❤

You can get them all year round, however, I prefer to catch them during the winter and early spring.

@@tina9320Pismo clams spawn from spring to late summer. Consequently, the flesh isn’t ideal during reproduction. We follow the old rule of clamming during months with an “r”.
