The Denver and Rio Grande Western Iron Horse Route is a N Scale model of the prototype railroad owned and maintained by the D&RGW in the early 1950’s. The trip between Denver’s Union Station and Winter Park, Colorado. The line is still in operation today and is referred to as the “Winter Park Express” or the “Ski Train”. The prototype train typically was an ABB unit with a maximum of 14 cars in length. The trip takes about 2 ½ hours and raises in elevation approximately 4,000 linear feet in 45 miles resulting in a minimum grade of 1.7%. The route passes through the famous Moffat Tunnel directly before exiting into Winter Park. The West portal of the Tunnel is located with ½ Mile of the Iron Horse Resort, resulting in the name of the route.
This channel documents the construction and progression of this layout. Videos will be typically be uploaded on Friday's bi-monthly. Topics will be bench work, track work, electrical, automation, upgrades, unboxing's and review's , live streams, live chats, contests and much more.

Good Morning Keith! It is located on Pass rd. in Gulfport, MS. We are about an hour east of New Orleans on the coast.
Constant camera movement made me dizzy...
I meant for this to be more of a glance at everything, but I do wish I would have slowed down and made the video longer. I am hoping that the administrators will allow me to come back and film each layout in more detail. I even plan to ask if they will narrate some and give us some more information on the layouts.
@@IronHorseBrian Understood. The place is gigantic. Some cameras have a stabilization feature that could help. Also a location, up front, would have been helpful, rather than an answer to a comment.

I understand what you are saying and do not disagree. I meant for this to be more of a glance at everything, but I do wish I would have slowed down and made the video longer. I look at the most sprawling layouts in the larger scales and think "Imagine the N-scale layout one could build in that large of area...!" 🤩

I was thinking the same thing. They have a couple local investors who have sunk some serious funds in this place. They have summer camps for kids and everything. The only thing that was missing was a caboose restaurant. They did have dining car for kids to play in though!

Only 1125 miles due south,if I do it would be in winter
If you come Thanksgiving, I have a week off. IF you come Christmas, I have two weeks off! Would love to tour the place with you. I think it would cost us about $15 each.

Would love to spend 30 minutes on each layout with you! We would have between 9 and 6. When you buy a ticket, it is a pass for the day. I would think 4 or 5 hours we could do thorough layout tours on each layout! The O, G and the big HO layouts could have an hour each spent on them if not more. We will soon have an option for you to take the train from the airport in New Orleans to here. Brian

Hey JD! It's right here in Gulfport, MS. We are about an hour east of New Orleans. We have fishing, seafood , casinos, aquarium and a train museum. Amtrak is in the process of reopening passenger routes from new orleans to here. Will be perfect to take from there bc plane tickets to new orleans are cheap cheap! Brian

One thing you didn’t mention with the same spot derailment is, are the rail sections in the rail joiner properly? If the rails are not IN the rail joiner, this can cause a derailment because of the misaligned rails. From personal experience, this problem is harder to spot with n scale track than some of the larger scales. Solution: Simply run your finger over the joint and make sure it is smooth, if not, separate the rails and make sure that they slide into the joiner properly.This is a problem I have when placing my “Trim-a-Train” base on the Christmas tree that thing can drive you absolutely nuts sometimes. Great video on troubleshooting those pesky problem derailments.

One problem with your instructions. Most of have the front coupler in our trains and we searched for instruction for removing it and the body. You told us what we already know.

Well when you work in n scale , as I do 😊, you must get pretty close sometimes to see if all the flanges are on correctly. If the hat was turned around , the bill would hit the locos and knock them off the track. Yeah. That’s it. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Thank you for watching and commenting ! Brian.
