    A strange dry system😳 What are those two valves above dry valves for 😳?

    • @briancook9579
      @briancook9579 Před rokem

      That is so you can trip the Valve without flooding the System, you would close those valves above the dry valve then trip the valve. Water would only go to that point. You see this application with pre action systems where they protect very expensive equipment and don’t want to flood the System when they are doing there 3-year full trip test

  • @TheGardista
    @TheGardista Před 2 lety

    That 4” backflow device is installed 4-6” above the floor. A plumbing code is minimum 12” from the floor. Also, that FDC line definitely requires two check valves. An air compressor is placed on the floor , what is unacceptable.

      Interesting remark. is the water flow alarm supposed to be positioned before the drain? I thought that the inpector test connection was after the flow alarm, not the main drain.

    • @paccbutler1826
      @paccbutler1826 Před 2 lety

      @@cmarname The flow switches are located (in different areas) after the main drain. The main drain test is upstream of any flow switches. Typically, this should not trigger them. The inspectors test is located (usually near the end-of-the-line) at the end of the system. When the inspector's test is performed, a flow switch will detect flow, send a notification, and will trigger the alarm.

My question is what the he'll is keeping back the 150 psi water pressure that is below the valve in the system at my job? Does a building owner have to periodically test the flow switch like on a wet system? How would you do this without tripping the dry system?

    • @malcolmdown9170
      @malcolmdown9170 Před 3 lety

      The dry side has no flow switch. But it does have a pressure switch which will operate from flowing water from the test drain. This will ring the water motor alarm bell and activate the pressure switch to raise an alarm.

    • @briancook9579
      @briancook9579 Před rokem

      Dry Systems use a pressure switch in which you can test on the alarm line trim without tripping the system

    If the heat/smoke opens the valve and allows water to flood the system, then it is single interlock.

    • @josiahsvoboda6117
      @josiahsvoboda6117 Před 4 lety

      Yes that’s correct. The air pressure in the field pipe is to monitor for any leaks. If you get a low air supervisory only the system will not trip, unless it’s coupled with a smoke/heat head to energize solenoid and dump the priming water. This is for coverage of areas you don’t want getting wet or having false trips at all costs. Once the air leak is detected the pipe can be repaired and you don’t damage any of the equipment that is being covered. If the system dumps on only one of these inputs alone it pretty much is defeating the purpose of the PreAc.
