This New Indie Game Destroyed Me
It's rare that I play a game and become cautious of the amount I write about it, yet The End of You does this for two separate reasons. The first, at around half an hour for a playthrough, is that the footage of gameplay I can actually show you is strikingly short, and subsequent playthroughs were spent more or less going over the same section and trying out new dialogue. The second is that The End of You is easy to spoil by talking about it too much. However, it's also an experience in the purest sense, a combination of atmosphere, sound, and, story that doesn't connect the same if you aren't exploring it yourself. That is to say, there's not a big bad or a grandiose final triumph. It's simply an exploration of one man's guilt over a single insomnia-driven night, and this simplicity is kind of brilliant.
I played a little bit of The Stillness of the Wind, this developer's previous effort, a while back and found the aesthetic striking. I don’t however have a bigger connection to it. The music is effective and emotive, and the gameplay looks like it can build to something great. I didn't play enough for it to fully start pulling at my heartstrings but I know the capability is in there, it just requires me booting it up again.
If you happen to have played The Stillness of the Wind at its launch in 2018 and wondered “What has this dev been up to since?” The answer, in a professional sense, is little you can see publically. ‘Memory of God’, the pseudonym for one-man development studio Lambic, was diagnosed with ADHD late in life, battled his own darkness around his past and broke things off with his long-term partner at that time. The end of you is the result of that heartbreak and eventual catharsis.
Taking a very old-school retro approach to its graphics, The End of You is intentionally nostalgic and this gives it all a jarring effect that made me think I was only ever a misclick away from outright horror. That moment never came and it's all the better for it. The horror lies in between the lines, and if you're anything like me, it might just stay with you afterwards.
Mechanically, it's a very simple game with all of the characters' actions being done with just a handful of clicks. You wake up in some early morning and wander around your lonely apartment, then decide to waste the time away by packing away a box belonging to your ex. Through a handful of central artifacts, you are given conversations, dialogue, and more of our main characters' perceived failings. It feels less intentionally designed to be a game and feels a lot more like a short video or art project. Closer to a poem than a novel. There are dozens of games that fit this description, tonnes that try to say something deeper or want you to connect without level-up system and battle passes. Perhaps the thing I like most about The End of You is how, clear, consistent, and overwhelming its central themes are.
Much of the music in the game, specifically that which you choose to play is by Allesandro Moreschi who was a castrato, singers whose castration preserved their vocal range that puberty would have otherwise dropped. Given recordings of this took place in the early 1900s and he was born in 1858, this is considered well past his prime and some say his vocal range and tone is not that of a castrato. This is to say that, despite the pain endured by Allesandro, the main thing he is known for is his castration. From the fertility statue in the central room to Fight Club, To Kill a Mocking Bird, and The Old Man and the Sea on the half-emptied bookshelf, there's this central core around masculinity and the perception of self that a long-awaited breakup will often bring out of you. What happens when your life reflects not the grandiose messaging of patriotism, chivalry, and frankly chauvinism of some classic novels but the themes underlying them? What happens if we look not at the man stealing away a bride but at the bus ride once they've realized what their actions actually mean? Why is it that so much prophetic media takes time for the broader world to fully grasp? Because, at least partially, you often need to experience what it says to get why it's saying it in the first place.
With that, I'll say if you find this intriguing at all, play the game. I'm going to talk a little deeper about myself, the game, and my connection to it going forward, veering into mild spoilers, and definitely some pontificating. If this isn't your kind of thing, or you want to see what I'm talking about before pointing out why I'm wrong, I'd encourage you to pause the video right here.

Why You Should Play Abiotic Factor - Abiotic Factor Review and Analysis

2024 seems to be going through a bit of a multiplayer game renaissance. With the huge launches of Helldivers 2 and Content Warning, the sustained prevalence of Lethal Company, and even an indie gem like Enshrouded, it's pretty stacked with games you just have to convince your friend group to play with you. Abiotic Factor has elements of almost every one of the games, yet feels quite distinct. I...

One of the major things I love about Dark Souls, and From Software's work in general, is how the tough exterior and dark world holds something powerful at its centre. There's a brilliant light at the bottom of it all, one that will blind you if you stare into it too long, yet it lures you in and won't ever let go. For a decade now, Dark Souls has been the game I play when I'm feeling down. The ...
Why You Should Play Enshrouded - My Favourite Early Access Survival Crafter This Year

Enshrouded is my favourite early access survival crafter this year (Yeah, I know) I spent a decent chunk of the end of January playing Palworld - not just because it's fun (which it is) but because of the huge conversation around it. It's a derivative game, for sure, but it does just enough with those copied components to have gripped me for a while. That was until Enshrouded launched just a we...

Usually, when someone says something is ahead of its time, they mean that in a good way. When someone says something is 'behind the times' they mean that in a bad way. It's a game that is oddly confused and confusing whilst being, somehow, relatively straightforward. I...

Palworld has been a game I've been passively interested in for some time. i hope that they do add something of a skill tree so you can flesh out builds more that is alway more fun when you can be the odd ball in your friend group who plays a sneaky dude in every game that allows it btw the skill tree idea is more of a idea i had for rewarding the player for being extra clever for figuring thing out and give small effects that change the game up slightly ( aka like slightly better vision at night or other small boost )

    2:03 I feel insane bcs I keep seeing the Half life influence mentioned everywhere, and sure, the visuals and setting are a homage to that series, but I feel like it gives the wrong expectation because the gameplay is not at all like those games. I think calling out System shock 2 instead as an inspiration makes more sense

    • @RadicallyMisinformed
      @RadicallyMisinformed Před měsícem

      System Shock 2 is a fair example, though I think that could also set the wrong expectations too! I think I very intentionally move away from saying “this is basically Half Life” and try to move towards “this element is like Half Life” and I think Half Life comparisons go deeper than just the aesthetic too. The way Abiotic handles atmosphere, the structure of its story elements, and even some of its enemy designs feel reminiscent to me (though i was cautious of spoiling too much of the surprise of the game) I think Half Life felt like a grounding point for the way I wanted to tackle the video but I could easily do an entirely different video about System Shock and the games that inspired modern day immersive sims! Looking forward to trying out the enhanced edition of the second game!

    I really like the points you brought up! I've been playing since yesterday I'm about 1/3 through. First of, I'm happy to see it I'm not the only one experiencing performance issues! I also had a lot of those lag spikes and was concerned, it might be my PC struggling. I also had an issue once, where the loading screen got stuck and my game wasn't saved. Lost about 2-3h of gameplay :c Other then that, I really like the new mechanics and unique spin, this game introduced. I like, how instead of new weapons provide a change in gameplay in Dark souls, another crabs treasure does this by having these different types of shells, thus armor being the medium. I am also a bit sad, that we can't change our fork, but it's made bearable by the shells and their magic system. Generally, spells being tied to different shells, that can be found anywhere in the world, proved a far more dynamic way of tying magic into the fighting system. A also really enjoy, how blocking and parrying play a much more prominent part in the combat system, which is something I really like (and also had the pleasure to play with in lies of p). Other than gameplay, I can agree with you, that the story and delivery is very comedy heavy, while being taken seriously. I also love all the blatant references to other pieces of media 💀 I'll see if the game can maintain this enjoyment all the way through. But overall, I feel its a really solid indie souls like. It's worthy of the title 'souls like'

    *long thread, but hey. this game needed a good story* a simple way they could have fixed the story is to delve deeper into you being a freelancer in the first two chapters. you work for the city, but also strangers. destroy blockades, destroy spawn points. each time you return you LEARN new lore in the world, you're told you are not alone, that what you do does changes things. imagine you destroy a blockade 8 missions ago and now someone talks to you saying that it helped them. there are rumours of plans, but you are NOT the main character. you are alone, even with the people around you. you make more money being alone, or to use other people. slowely increasing that moneypool, paying of debts that only seem to increase more and more. you're hoping for something big, a big mission, and event. the people in town look at you as if you are not truly needed. then chapter 3. a group within the city, other freelancers have done something bad.nthey had used their time to blockade some fo the roads which send you in, but you learn its the same weapons you used. following the path you and two others find themselves having found the same clues. wihtin, you find some of the freelancers that are missing, attacking you, before defeating they stir up some monsters. you return to town and report. something is wrong. the other freelancers that were breaking the blockades did not return, as you go there you find only their corpses. the town is shocked, they needed them to protect them. their only choice now is to seek help from outside the town. this leads to, whats supposed to be the big bad. chapter 4, these new ones sometimes mess up your missions. the moment you try to clear them, they come in and do it, making you lose profits. thney start to annoy you, you do more missions, but they always seem to be able to mess up some of them. your debt stacks up and its mentioned you can work for them, just for the time being. once more, you are a nobody, as these new ones seek to fight big bad monsters. they also want to know what happened. gaining some respect along the more important ones. however in chaptper 5 you get a choice, either pay of your debt by joining or continue doing this. but the moment you want to take it, alarms go of. the big bad attacks, but something is wrong. half their supplies are blocked by traps. their army seems to be attacked by beasts. they tried to sneak in... but to no avail. something happened. its the freelancers, the moment you get there to see, you see it. and this is where you can choose to tell, or follow the crumbs. if you tell, you join the leader you gained respect with. which ultimatly result in you either fighting the big bad, or making things worse. if you join the freelancers, you find they do not seek peace, just control of the town and as many weapons as possible so no one dares fight them. or you join the town, fighting of the freelancers and the big bad. your choices gain you respect in some of these factions, joininbg you in the end with them being there, and weapons. there is no true bad thing, its the choices you make that make it so. the true bad is not a powrr, or unstable functions. its the one who wants to make money by creating a mess. the freelancers get framed for some reason the empire finds themselves untrusted by the locals. the city steers with food problems and water poisoning due to negligence. all problesm that need solving... but there is only you. maybe it is smart to... you know, join a group? which creates the problems and conflicts above. what this game needs is a false sense of direction thjat makes you either regret what you did not choose, or hope that it was the right one. you do not learn what is right or wrong those are YOUR reasons. if you choose a different faction over another, they see lesser of you, bnut your choices could still influence them.

    I had never felt more disappointed to hear that a game I genuinely enjoyed was canned so soon after its release. I genuinely loved every single one of the 60 hours I played Anthem, and I think that if it weren't for the time it came out and the shape that it launched in, it could have worked. Maybe it wouldn't be *great*, but I've played Destiny 2 for 1,000+ hours, so that speaks volumes to my taste. It feels wrong to mourn a video game. Even moreso it feels wrong to mourn Anthem out of all of them. But man, the sheer joy that I got out of dashing around as an Interceptor? That. That's something I'll mourn for as long there isn't an Anthem 2.

    Did we deserve Anthem 2.0? No, we deserved Anthem. It was pretty impressive for being created, by all accounts, in 15 months after Mark Darrah was brought in to finally give the team some direction but should it have been pushed out? Nah. They should have taken the hit, taken the responsibility and not relied on the 'BioWare Magic' to bail out incompetent, money hungry executives. This is one of those games that will always be referenced when talking about a complete flop due to greed and a lack of understanding.

      I think that’s a fair perspective! I definitely think it veers into copaganda but I think it tries to move away from outright propaganda into a much more implicit descriptive propaganda (it is what it is etc). Definitely get the appeal of blasting through a door with a BLAHAJ!

    I think the story would be better told from a perspective of a detective. Swat officers do not handle investigations, they come in to wrap things up at the end of one. They try to hint you on the ongoing investigation but that's as much as they can do. If this was a story of police corruption and coverups it could be told form this perspective but they play it straight.

    I don't think you quiet understand how difficult it can be for a cop to understand if a suspect is a threat or not in a situation. especially if there's third party civilians nearby screeching "police brutality" or whatever worsening the situation, have seen suicidal suspects basically need to be tazed and get a dog sent on them because the crowds wouldn't let the cops de escalate. the animations of the civilians pulling out their phones and such as if it was a gun is also intended to show such difficulties, and if they had more time and resources they would probably make them verbally abuse you too, because they do that, even if you're a SWAT guy clearing the fucking building. A cop's and especially a SWAT's job is to protect their own life and then yours while fulfilling their job, which is why the 21 foot rule exists for cops and if they have a tazer or other less than lethal weapon ready then they always have another guy with a lethal one ready to magdump if the less than lethal fails, because half the time they do that. you implying that the value of life is being diminished or "gamified" in this game I find ridiculous, RoN has been one of the most humanising and dehumanising games i've seen in years. (examples being some of the suspects being genuine monsters and yet you have to arrest them not shoot them since they don't resist, and some maps such as the nightclub one showing dozens if not hundreds of phones calling from family wondering if they survived the incidents) RoN even delves into something that can vaguely be seen as internal conflict, such as fighting the Ex-military veterans who are doing what they are doing because they are no longer sheltered. Many cops are ex military and I would wager the majority of them in the US are very sympathetic to veterans. (meaning they would probably react very negatively or remorsefully discovering that part of the plot) I don't think its fair to call it copaganda due to that and the humanization in the story of a lot of the others. keep in mind RoN is also set in a world where organized crime is skyrocketing, depicting a struggling city rotting even more from crime and radicalized and desperate people. the story very much intends to make you feel like the bad guy but a necessary one, like idk someone disciplining their kid or dog or something. I can only speculate but I think that may be why you think this is "copaganda" like.

    • @RadicallyMisinformed
      @RadicallyMisinformed Před 5 měsíci

      Hi there. I don't believe I actually outright call the game copaganda, instead suggesting it plays into the themes of copaganda through implicit storytelling. I don't believe my statement is nearly as black and white as you make it out to be. "The animations of the civilians pulling out their phones and such as if it was a gun is also intended to show such difficulties" i believe i directly acknowledge this in the video but criticise the way it is done and how some of the game's underlying mechanics sometimes betray some of that storytelling. On 'gamifying' morality, I believe a game can do this whilst also getting many other facets of morality right. You suggesting where it humanises these people doesn't diminish that at all. They can exist in tandem. I believe RoN does gamify its understanding of morality, but it also depicts the very harrowing act of being a SWAT officer. When you mention it both humanises and dehumanises, this can be an element of broader propaganda. What a piece of media decides to empathise and not is part of how it tells you to see the world. I think we fundamentally disagree on a handful of things here and this ties into a point I make around the middle of the video. RoN is very descriptive in nature, often telling you 'it is what it is' and I lament that the game doesn't use this opportunity to ask 'why is this?' It attempts an accurate depiction of SWAT forces in a fictionalised world. The parts it makes up and the parts it doesn't plays into the broader reasonings and rationale for their own existence. When you liken the SWAT officers arresting civilians to punishing a dog, I actually do believe this to be dehumanising and playing into elements of copaganda. Seeing the people you are supposed to be helping as below you is, I believe, a major problem and one of the more fundamental places we disagree. i don't deny how tough it must be for a SWAT officer and I don't ever intend to downplay that. Thanks for sharing your perspective

      @D2_Papaya Před 5 měsíci

      @@RadicallyMisinformed I think we mostly agree on things then. However I think you gravely misunderstand what I meant when you responded saying "When you liken the SWAT officers arresting civilians to punishing a dog," I likened the feeling/emotion/negative reaction from the brain of needing to be harsh in order to (in the words of the game) "bring order to chaos", to the negative feeling someone would get from someone disciplining their dog or kid. (basically saying its the same type of hard to swallow "it has to be done" reaction) since you as a SWAT are arresting, killing, and disrupting the lives of people who are victims of their own circumstance, another example of this is the 3d printing auto sear mission which was them doing what they were doing because they needed to fund the bills for their dying grandma's medical bills and that one guy's crippling gambling addiction. look I think we both agree on a lot here but I think you misunderstanding what I said on the first comment serves as a good example of why I think you lack some context to your conclusions in the video. I hope im making sense here and thanks for responding, what do you think?

    • @RadicallyMisinformed
      @RadicallyMisinformed Před 5 měsíci

      @@D2_Papaya That makes sense. My criticism of your dog analogy isn't that I think they are literally seen as dogs but that the analogy itself can falls into the traps of that dehumanisation, that, in turn, the game can occasionally fall into. When I talk about your analogy, it's not to personally antagonize you or proselytize my own righteousness but to make the argument your language is informing part of your analysis that I disagree with. I don't mean to imply that you are arguing they should be treated like dogs but that the analogy itself is descriptive, not prescriptive, a thing I think the game often does. The choice to make something 'feel realistic' in a world that is itself fictional means the developers occasionally have to play fast and loose with the things they determine as necessary and just, and the things they determine to be superfluous to the central narrative. The bits it chooses, i feel, can sometimes undermine the point of what they often do. That mission with the dying grandmother is heartbreaking, and we actually agree quite a bit on that point. However, I don't see how my interpretation means i'm lacking that context. Fundamentally, "you don't understand how tough it is" is a necessary step in developing empathy and awareness in drawing these conclusions but my criticism isn't that the game doesn't take this world seriously but that, in fact, it doesn't often draw the lines between some of the dots it puts in front of your face. Thanks for the back and forth here!

      It was a drranged fan from his livestream, this is from the description in the Ready or Not Streamer Trailer: "The phone rings, a young man is on the other side; he informs that he's planning to kill his mother, brother and take hostages as well. In no time, SWAT moves to the location. In the meantime, Milky Toes, also known as Michael Williams, is getting ready to begin his regular streaming session. However, he is unaware that one of his fans has just made a prank call to the police station. While Milky Toes yells at his mother to get out of the frame, the SWAT team arrives, only to be welcomed not by Michael, but his illegal Bitcoin farm. Oh, poor Michael, you won't be able to continue your streams from prison."" Also you can hit breaches simultaneously by ordering red and blue to a delayed action/order by holding shift + select the order then you can use the gold "execute" order to do the two teams breach at the same time, took me a while to find that out. @@RadicallyMisinformed

    10:18 just like your video, I think RoN started out with intentions to be something other than what it is now. Unlike videos though, games take a lot of money and a lot more time to make, but development issues, the game almost switching hands a couple of times, over-promising of content/release dates, switching engines at one point, and probably a lot more behind the scenes drama we don't and probably will never know about are all what I think likely kept this game from achieving really any concrete artistic expressions or stylistic fidelity. If you watch the old trailers, you'll notice they are pretty unique, well made, and show us glimpses of the creators original visions that were begging to be well executed. The newest trailer, however (the one they showed at the most recent game awards I believe), is a lot more basic and palatable, being geared towards a larger demographic of consumers and making the game look more like a run of the mill action shooter than a tactical one. This is a perfect example of the fact that the devs weren't cut out to make what I believe they originally wanted to, should have, and ultimately probably couldn't, cuz again, games are really expensive and really hard to make. They had to get the game out sooner the additional year or 2 it likely would have taken them to turn into a masterpiece allowed, likely due to financial deadlines, burnout, and previously made promises + nose diving player counts and general public interest in the project. At the end of the day, I'm satisfied with the compromise they made by finishing and releasing it when they did, and I'm kind of amazed it didn't die in early access like a lot of other games do. But I also can't help but wish it turned out the way it was meant to. I highly recommend watching Void's AMAs if you want to know more about the game and the incredibly talented people who made it. should be on their youtube channel

      I get a lot of what you’re saying and certainly don’t envy the role of the devs here. Games, especially when a marketing cycle and early access period are involved, seem incredibly tough to make and even harder to cement around some sort of central vision. I definitely felt some of that messiness that comes from the compromises they’ve likely had to make over the last few years. I’m still glad I got to play the game it is, regardless. Will make sure to check out the AMA! Thanks for the suggestion!

    I think the problem with 7:48 as a comment fails to really understand that your perspective as a swat officer cannot cover these things. While these are true problems when it comes to our life, these topics can also feel exhaustively off-topic when the game focuses on YOU in the position of a member of the SWAT UNIT, trying to handle the abusive nature of the criminal world that some SWAT face. There's also a lot that seems to be missed in terms of saying that it only dips into these topics, when the story itself in commander mode actually has you follow a trail with a few different branching storylines. SPOILERS AHEAD HERE... The major overarching story is that they're following a sex trafficking operation. They get little bits to go off of as you start out, but eventually you get a LOT of information, and even arrest a few people spreading illicit materials. There's also a shipment on Hide and Seek with a mark on it that if you open it, an FBI agent gets pissed at you over the radio, suggesting an even bigger picture on the final level itself. It has no problem implying that these issues that you're trying to correct in game are the faults of our own system. Also the streamer may be swatted for an unrelated crime, but that detail is there not only to make a discord mod joke, but to actually establish a link to what I mentioned previously. He is also supposed to be arrested. Not killed. It's a main objective that is required for you to actually complete all objectives successfully. The game tries to really push the idea that you're supposed to be doing everything you can to avoid casualties, as you CANNOT S rank unless you apprehend EVERYONE. that means going in and risking you and your men with pepperballs, flashbangs, and more to try and get suspects to surrender. The game is pushing you to try and go above and beyond and be the best you can to earn that S rank. While you can definitely make note of what Ready or Not Misses by chasing that S rank, don't forget what actually achieving the S rank actually means. The game itself has a core philosophy that the onus is on you as a leader to improve the city by taking the right action. Each rank is not just a score, it's a definition of how you have personally performed that job. I think a lot of it is simply a matter of perspective on how you interpret a lot of what the game features, so in one way it makes sense that it can seem almost silly that someone's life is equated to -50 or -200 points, but when given a chance to envision what it means in totality, it can be a more necessary value.

    • @RadicallyMisinformed
      @RadicallyMisinformed Před 5 měsíci

      I think your thoughts here are great and I'd say I largely agree with most of it. I definitely think the game tries to put an onus on you as a leader by centring you at the front of your squad and giving you points for your actions. I do find it to be mostly a necessary evil (though I think there are morality/evaluation systems that largely serve the same purpose without the same hangups). On the points, I think there's a twisted and unenviable calculus that many SWAT officers will literally have to do in real-life situations but even that could be explored more, like the idea of not losing points when your actions are rational and understandable without being right in an objective sense. I also feel like it throws encounters at you inorganic ways sometimes that betray some of this calculus. That's not to say these encounters don't happen but the game's desire to be 'fun' can betray its point. I think commander mode, when tied to these point systems, with some pretty messy AI, and mechanics can feel tonally confused as a result. When you say 'your perspective as a swat officer cannot cover these things', I actually think the game often attempts to and is left in this middle-ground, not quite exploring what an inquisitive mind might but not leaving you so in the dark that it feels like that of a grunt taking down suspects. As you point out, definitely a matter of perspective! I think it's important to note you are given sociopolitical analysis regularly in many of the mission's descriptions and through environmental storytelling that, I feel, gets in the way of this message. I feel like it wants to have its cake and eat it in the way it presents certain stories and gives you exposition without the creative and explorative mind that a SWAT leader might have. I feel games often have to give you more as the limitations of what you are able to organically find and hunt out are taken away. There's a perspective to be had that this almost deceptive way of putting the world forward is touching on a broader theme but I don't think I share that. It occasionally feels like narrative strands and motifs thrown at a wall, for you to make your own read on, which I kind of appreciate near the end of the video. The guy in the second mission was actually apprehended without death in the clip in the video, my joke about the squad member shooting him was supposed to play in contrast to that but I totally understand if that didn't come through! When I talk about stories not linking to a satisfying point, I mean that some motifs and themes don't feel explored, so much as gestured at vaguely at points and I wish the game brought them in more. I like it in a lore sense, but not necessarily a theme sense. I think I like much of Ready or Not tries to do but some of it feels less clever and intentional than other moments. I think some of the gamifying of its mechanics and desire to feel intense can leave very little room for the silence in between, which often feels like the most impactful moment. Sorry for the long comment, I think your analysis warranted it! Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective

      @@RadicallyMisinformed I really appreciate the effort to explain further, so I don't mind reading through everything! There is truth in unexplored territory, especially when it comes to dissatisfaction in the way the city is slowly falling apart. I think it was intended more as set dressing for a society in decline to properly convey atmosphere more than anything else, but I suppose it does encroach so much on the setting that it does leave you wondering what more could be going on. We do get more information in Brista Cove that there is a representative that seems to have a plan to pull money out from the Veteran's Fund, which has caused so much disturbance that they were setting up an assassination. This could also imply why the state of welfare int the city is so low. I also think that this middle ground where they are stuck in could be an issue of not giving your teammates the ability to reflect and impress their own opinions on the situation. Especially in the mission Twisted Nerve. These are all people who are housing together, producing and using a supply of drugs, more than likely stuck together because of a lack of intervention long before the swat needed to appear. We see a clear lack of other services a city normally has to rehabilitate individuals, and it may be a part of the overall problem with the current mayor. Maybe if we had more missions they could connect this from an external view and maybe give us the full story, but I think the problem with Ready Or Not is that there's just not enough to fully convey everything it wants to cover. Not enough missions to properly pace context or information. I apologize if I'm misunderstanding as I'm trying to recall everything from memory at the moment and some imagery from the video, but it's all a bit fuzzy.

      @@gummycubez I actually totally agree there! I think there’s room for the game to actually address much of those lingering thoughts and criticisms of mine but I do worry some of the central mechanics and set pieces would need to be overhauled to necessitate that. There’s something interesting to be said about the conclusions we draw between the lines. I come away from some of the more interesting set dressing feeling a little unsatisfied, though maybe that’s part of the point! You are left out in the cold, figuratively and literally. I do think it could drive home that feeling more to feel a tad more intentional though. Sometimes, the story, world, and mechanics don’t always feel cohesive and I wanted a good bit more, thought maybe not literally in regards to playtime

    • @gummycubez
      @gummycubez Před 5 měsíci

      @@RadicallyMisinformed As a final note, me and a few people think it may escalate to be a situation where the mayor is mismanaging funds, taking money out of welfare, and the corrupt nature of the city itself is allowing this path, and there may even be a connection between them and the FBI to allow these crimes by ruining these programs. In the future they may expand on this, and we even hope we put cuffs on corrupt agents, because it could be a pretty big plot point. Ideally all these answers will be solved as I assume they will be making more content, and I'd love to see the department have a conflict between getting their funding and shutting up, or actually making a stand and putting away this corrupt ring.
