@@mattyssite not sure about westminster but finchley road has points just south at swiss cottage disused station where we can either reverse from south to north or terminate in the northbound platform and then change ends and head south towards baker st.

@@dannycross5889 correct! Not without a lot of funding. They started doing prep work and clearing the sites and then all came to a stop whilst they argued over who was paying what.

If you are meant to stable it and finish or go for break then you leave it and either head straight home or to messroom and await your next pick up. I was on nights in this video and when on nights i normally find a cleaned and prepped train in the depot or sidings and chill on it for a while, i have an ipad so just watch netflix or sometimes stroll to the messroom grab a drink and heads back to the sidings. We normally get about 3-4 hours off on nights between last and first trains unless its snowing then we drive de-icing equipped trains through the night minus a 30 min break to clear the tracks so the first trains not disrupted.

sorry about that, the camera is on the M door in the cab and sometimes with the air con it gets loud in cab, once i return from leave any further videos will be recorded with the camera closer to me so hopefully that will help with any narration i do.

No, the Met is still manual north of Finchley Road. Even when ATO does come up to Wembley park the depot itself will be manual driving and outside the depot limits we will switch to ATO.

😁 It's the OPO alarm, Once we stop after driving say at a signal or station if i dont turn the TBC within 60 seconds then the alarm starts and i then have 30 seconds to respond by twisting it otherwise the alarm tone will get faster and then will send an emergency alarm to the control centre.

@@traindrivergamer4279 Lisa was the sheds, Edward was the roads nearest the Pway siding and Charlie was inbetween. Also had klondike which went upto Neasden south

Gets more complicated when you are driving a train with a certain failure to do with the auxiliary converter module that means if you stop over a power rail gap then the train goes 'off juice' and risks having to be rescued so they do try and bring us straight in to avoid the gapping risk.

@@markdavies5662 station supervisor. Normally in the early morning and later when they change over shift they come to the platform and check the trains opo monitors in the cab to see if the cameras are aligned correctly and they ask us if we are happy with them that we see the whole platform from our in cab monitors. Sometimes for whatever reason in the night they could move off line and then they would have to call for a team to come and realign the camera. If the platform is category A of we cannot see the whole platform using the in cab monitors then a member of staff would need to stand on the platform to check the area we cannot see and give us assisted dispatch from the station. If the station is category B then it is a platform where if there is a problem we can open the cab door look back down the platform and do our own dispatch and not need a member of staff.

Are you referring to the station starter signals? If so it is because they are timed approach controlled which means they stay red even if the next section is clear until the approaching train has occupied the platform section for 15 seconds, if the line ahead is clear the signal turns to green but if a train is ahead of us then it will stay red until its clear.

The thing that used to freak me when I was a kid was with the a stock when it left the platform at Eastcote going to Uxbridge the lights used to go out don’t know if it the same now cos I ain’t been back home for 20+ years 🤣

@@andrewfieldhouse1945 that was when they used to go over the current rail gaps, the S Stock doesnt have that they have 2 auxillary converter modules that distributes the power around the train so if 1 half is over a gap it gets the current it needs from the other end. The A stock in summer was fun going into city as some drivers had saloon nights off to keep saloon cool and then forgot to turn them on at finchley rd so would be darkness to baker st 😁

Makes sense as thats the beginning of control by neasden tower, guessing that will be the point when depot rules apply comes up on the SID and then RM from there into depot.

@@jtransportbuses thanks for the sub! Getting a cab ride can be difficult as it all has to be approved by our train managers. Best thing i can think of is to keep emailing customer service or tweeting tfl and asking for a contact for whichever line you want the cab ride for.

@@jeffreyphillips2323 tripcock mode is when we drive to the lineside signals as normal. PM or protected manual is a driving mode to do with the auto section where drivers drive the train but instead of following lineside signals we drive to the info on the display such as how fast to go and how far etc.

Hi, they are new signals that will be controlled by the ato system when that section goes live. The chiltern trains and any engineering trains that wont use the system will follow those new lineside signals and the met trains will follow the info on the drivers SID in the cab.

@@MCJC96 yes eventually the whole met line will be under new signalling. The project is way behind schedule though and there is constant rumours that some areas will remain under original line side signalling but again rumours at this point.

@@quintuscrinis8032 engineering works for ato testing, line was closed south of harrow. Uxbridge shuttles from harrow platform 6 and then fast amershams reversing from platform 2. There was also services to amersham and chesham from northwood that ran via watford.

minimum is 16 weeks, the first 3 weeks are in the classroom in an intensive course learning rules and regulations, train procedures, emergency situations etc. 2 exams followed by 1 final exam at the end of the 3 weeks tested on everything you have learnt including spad procedures. Once you pass that you then go to your assigned line and depot and begin line based training followed by stock which is learning all about your train and how to fix defects etc. Then you are assigned an instructor and will be driving in passenger service for 12-14 weeks with the last 2 weeks called wash up where you and the instructor will cover any reversal moves you have not done and anything you want to refresh. Then its the summartive assessment or 'road test' where you are driving with an assessor in the cab who monitors your driving and then afterwards will ask you a number of questions about general rules and procedures, line based questions and stock defect questions. Once thats done you are out by yourself and regulary monitored for the first few months and then you have yearly refreshers same as other drivers.
