I LOVE my patients and OT in its purity! But don’t let people glamorize a profession that is suffering right now! Do your research! Interview OTs working in skilled nursing facilities and other sites! Interview people who have been doing it for years! In a nursing home setting working for contract companies you will have a short amount of time with resident so you will be competing tasks they can not finish on their own!! Such as, washing/ dressing/ and wiping backsides!!

If you are doing a FULL ADL it is expected you finish up where the patient can not finish! Yes! You finish washing people and dressing AND assisting with toilet hygiene! It is not fun at times! ​@@shawneeshawnee6190do you specialise in a set area or are you a general OT? I know there's the option to specialise (like in mental health for example)

​@@shawneeshawnee6190also what country are you an OT in? Because how stretched the profession is depends on country. The UK NHS is massively underfunded in every part of the NHS

@@PierceHart-777 its for them to keep discriminating. They hire white foreigners and white Americans and Afro Africans.. Discriminating against black descendants of slaves. To fake diversity. Trying to prove they are not bigots when indeed they are.

@@PierceHart-777 yall need to stop discriminating but the bible says oppressors have a power on their side and its not the comforter.. The evil powers that be allows you all to sit in high places and oppress people. The oppressed according to bible has no power and no comforter. But God almighty will come for those that are oppressed. Its nothing any oppressor can do for those they oppress but continue oppressing. Until God Almighty puts an end to it once and for all.

@@shimmiyasebastian3100 I would not suggest this course to anyone for a variety of reasons. This role is dominated by white women due to a lack of diversity. I've encountered indirect racism from white colleagues, PATIENT RELATIVES, and peers. Pay is low, and there are no extra hours unless your trust runs a seven-day service, in which case you must be a band 6 or 7. After taxes, you will be paid around 1,500 pounds per month if you work for the NHS. The majority of other professionals are unaware of your role and refer to you as a physiotherapist. All you do is sort out discharges like a discharge nurse who is paid more than you. ( UK EXPERIENCE)

@@shimmiyasebastian3100 As an acute OT, your job entails organising discharge destinations (however, discharge nurses), raising patient furniture, access visits to see if a piece of equipment will fit in the property (which you will not do frequently), spending hours writing notes that no one reads aside from therapies, kitchen and washing, and dressing assessments that no one cares about. When you start as a band 5, you have a very low employment rate, unlike nursing, where you have a lot of possibilities.

@@shimmiyasebastian3100 lastly, There’s a big gap between the course and NHS role. If you want to do occupational therapy please I recommend you to do an apprenticeship instead of the course if you really want to work in hospital setting.

The qualities you need are having a great passion for giving the highest level of care to the deceased and their families remember we only have one chance to get the funeral right that meets the families expectations it is the most rewarding job in the world I would not want to do anything else be prepared to start at the bottom every day you learn something new, one thing that you will find is that people who work in the funeral industry are friendly and kind.If you have the passion and commitment to the job you will do well.Best wishes Pat Timmins Funeral Director UK

That Rolls Royce Hearse dates back to 1970, was owned by W.H. Tongue Funerals, in Auckland. Gee & Hickton bought it, and restored it to its current Glorious Condition.

My degree consisted of a Bachelors of Applied Science. To own the business that’s what’s needed. There’s also a vocational certification to be an embalmer. But in smaller areas, it’s Funeral Directors aka Morticians (the term runs hand in hand) doing everything. It takes education here. One can’t just walk into a funeral home, and just say “hey I want to be a funeral director”. Nope not here in the US. Im in IL by the way. When I saw her age of 21, it almost floored me. But then when she said she was in NZ, it made me think their rules and regulations are nowhere as strict as here. To be an embalmer you have to have a license. To be a funeral director/Mortician it’s a Bachelors degree. Some mortuary schools exist around the country. I’m not sure what they graduate with. I didn’t go that route.

@@melissademianchuk2656 I really liked helping people and being a funeral director helped open a lot of doors later. It does make your resume stick out...even in the airline industry. Dislike....being payed peanuts to work endless hours. Being a Funeral Director is a 24/7 job and if you don't own an interest in the business owners try to get away with paying you ridiculously low wages for the time you put in.
