Hey, I'm Leo from Primitive PCs, I do tech reviews and benchmarks of computer hardware from the computer equivalent of the Neolithic period.
The Free PC
Yes folks, this computer was completely free, it is packing a single core Pentium 4 641, 1.5gb of ddr2 and GMA 950 graphics... Lets game on it!

Can overclocking save the 8400GS?... no
zhlédnutí 94Před rokem
Thanks for watching! overclocked all the way and still slow, however it did make 1080p 30fps youtube playback possible and the card remained below 62 degrees Celsius the entire time. I would only recommend this graphics card if you can get it for under 5 dollars (or even better free) and only for retro games. it would pair well with almost any cpu from 2006. Please note that overclocking your g...
I found a graphics card worse than a GT 210... The geforce 8400 GS

If you want to get a cheap gaming PC, go find a discarded office desktop and replace the integrated graphics card with an low profile GTX/RTX graphic card. Most likely the office desktop has a decent CPU and RAM since they were used for demanding tasks and with a low profile graphics card inserted you actually get a great gaming pc for cheap!
You should have installed Linux and tried running Steam games
this gives me ptsd from my e waste collecting experrience
nice video! tho i think windows 7 might've been more usable with the basic or especially the classic theme. also, steam still works perfectly fine on windows 7 and 8.x.
@dight_ Thanks! Steam didnt want to work more likley due to the potato i was running it on looking back... i do have other computers still working fine on steam. I wish it still worked on windows xp.
I have him. Windows ME enjoyed his presence.
im heavyly fucking with your content as someone with a lot random old PC laying around your video got me in the mood to once again try and fix one current PC count in my basement is 6 PC, 2 mac, 5 laptops this does not include the gaming rig. but other wise all those have been either for free or for less than 10 bucks.
i played gmod on a cash register, had to use tiny windows 7
lol, I should see if my work will let me use one of theirs, they run windows 10, have some low tier celeron and 4gb of ram
@@PrimitavePCs mine had a 500gb hard-drive, 2gb of ram, some random integrated intel cpu/gpu thing and was weirdly modular on the inside with a completely custom motherboard and the sides kinda like hinged outwards really cool design but the thing itself was really bad for anything other than playing gmod at lowest settings at a solid 30fps except for the context menu which slows the game down to not responding when rendering the previews
Finally, PIU Fiesta at max FPS
Upgrade it for cheap! 👀
Featuring international garbage
The only issue is that I'm fairly certain driver support ended fairly recently
i've found a free hp that can run apex at 24fps skyrim at 50 gta 5 over 60 and gayshit impact horribly lowest settings possible under 30 and honorable mention for some reasons enabling anti-aliasing no matter the quality or game just doesn't effect the frames at all meaning i can just drop the res and put anti-aliasing of such high quality it looks like dlss though fsr2 kills the fps and newer doesn't run it sucks a bit in gaming but it's actually decent for 3d modeling those are the real performance you can get for free
@@cameleon2mur80 Nice, what was the spec?
@@PrimitavePCs some ddr3 likely 8 upgraded to 10 because of the dirty ram mixing a xeon that's probably way too overkill for the gpu it is paired with which might be part of the reason why anti-aliasing doesn't do anything to the performance and a quadro 600 which is probably the biggest reason anti-aliasing is free (it is a pro gpu meant for 3d rendering and modeling (even though these days it's just the minimum to be used for multiple screens) rather then gaming)
@@PrimitavePCs i forgot a 1tb hd that is quite fast for an hard drive that is just starting to die (lots of warnings but no failure) + 2tb that would be even faster if it worked at all but sadly it's a ghost to the bios
i have a x300, but its dead :( no display output, pc wont even detect it
That is a shame, they are a good card considering their age
In 2008 I was going around different garage sales during the summer time and wanted to see if anyone had any cheapo pc's that they were selling. I was in luck, for 15 dollars I scored the following: -A shoddy beige case that did not have the side panel -No gpu, or onboard gpu at all -And no powersupply But I did get -A working amd based asus motherboard -An athlon 1ghz processor -1gb of sd ( ?) ram -A 250w powersupply Thankfully at the time we had already upgraded our dells dimension 4600 fx5200 gpu to a fx6600, so I had the 5200, and I had a few spare 250gb drives so in some ways while this was under powered by every margin, it served great for web browsing early youtube and other websites and as a nas. I ran windows home server edition but it crapped itself hard and lost some data, but thankfully I kept external drives so back to windows 2000 rather than some beta garbage setup. Eventually by 2009 we bought a newer agp based gpu for the dell a visiontek 3650 that did not perform any better but could run higher resolutions without shitting itself on l4d2 so the 6600 went into the garage sale build. Kept that thing for another year till I saved up a bit and bought a cheap case, a E6300 with 2gb of ram and a very cheap 8600gt all for around 50 dollars. I forget what motherboard but I think it was some intel motherboard that a friends brother had and didn't need since he got so much computer stuff from his workplace at the time. I graduated school and blew 1000 that my parents gave as a gift on a proper desktop computer at the time in 2011 so from the athlon, to the core2duo, to a phenom ii it's wild the performance increases in that short time frame. Now it's like you go from stuff in 2016-2018 to now and you're getting only better performance for 1440p/4k and above 60. Software that runs sluggishly still runs worse and youtube, the main source of video consumption runs way worse than it ever has. Most software has annoying circles for loading because network based website apps have to load garbage. I thought things would get better but no they haven't.
ik this guy is gonna get popular
Oh that's a 775 socket. If you wanted to do a second video decking out this PC for shit's and giggles you could buy a Xeon CPU and do the old school 771 to 775 mod to shove that in!
bro has the bogdan eyebrows
I got an RX 580 for $50 us, maybe thats a good price in australia, idk, just not in the us or canada.
you can find them for around that price here as well, I went of of the CEX pricing as it is more reliable than some facebook marketplace guy.
Very well put together video.
Thanks
Very entertaining. Definitely Subbed!
Thank you so much!
cool editing, nice music, I like.
Thanks mate!

NUGGET DIP? NUH UH MATE WE GOT THE NUGGET GPU DIP
I'm loving the style of this vid. Keep it up!
Please change your channel name. "PC's" is not the correct plural of "PC". Even though I'm not a native English speaker I'm pretty sure "PCs" is correct.
great vid did give me a chuckle and some nostalgia 👌👌
Glad you enjoyed
Wet fart caught me off guard!
Decent, I live in Perth, What area are you localized around?
rural NSW
You can install Linux Mint on that thing, with the P4 it will do better than W7.
Now please upgrade it :)
This is the stuff I love, subscribed!
Thanks
I used to have an Acer Aspire 7720, still have it lying around. Was a pretty good laptop but ran pretty hot
I'd love to see a full series of finding and optimizing potato PCs to the peak of what they could possibly do. I've personally been buying up old ass PCs and slowly using them to build something actually good. It couldn't play any new AAA games, but you'd be surprised the spec requirements of yesterday's greats. Far Cry 3 for example: Core i3-530, 4 GB RAM, GTX 480 (recommended, not minimum specs)
Nice, i was thinking of doi g something like that
@@PrimitavePCs Sweet, can't wait to see it! Edit: If you haven't yet (which I'm sure you must have) check out your local flea markets. I have found insane stuff there for basically nothing. My favorite so far was 3/6 of a PC case with a graphics card supported by a fish wire.
underrated ahh content🦩this is so good
I almost finished Mafia using GMA945. It really needs a GPU. And core 2 quad if possible
I wonder if this beast of a machine can handle supertuxkart
It's a Cedar Mill Pentium 4, which means Windows 11 will install on it.
I tried windows 10, it was bad enough lol it didnt make it into the final video, but it tool like 15 min to boot in. It wasnt the cpu even though its horrible, it was the 1.5gb of ram limiting the computer.
@@PrimitavePCs Yeah, although with more RAM the CPU would quickly become the problem, I once tried Windows 11 on an Athlon 64 with 8 GB and it was terrible.
Of cource lol
The algorithm has found you, time to start shitposting brother.
whats it with aussies and having the abilities to make amazing tech vids? im subbing good vid! thanks algorythm
your channel is so underrated!
512mb of ddr2 is crazy
Petition to abbreviate the name further to ‘PP’???
You gone viral 😂
the moment you put that windows 7 disc in, I was like "oh boy, he's going to be praying to the windows gods for mercy for his sin for putting this on such on an old machine." And I was right
the upsidedown/backwards microATX layout is so strange
only hp...
ouch, that intro
I've gotten many free PCs in my day. The last one was in 2016 from my former employer they gave me their Dell Vostro with a I5-2400 & 8GB of RAM. I popped in a GTX 950 into it, and it became my gaming PC for several years until I sold it for a better one I was building.
The hell? I also got a i5 2400 with 8 gigs of ram for free and it also had a gtx 1060 from a relative what a coincidence
Now I know I'm going to get slapped for this. But I would like to see Linux on it.
Sick vid, commenting for the algorithm 😎
Thanks!
