    Looks like the fuel pump connector pins are getting warm/overheating. Thats usually caused by one or two things, either there is more current being drawn than the connector is rated for, or the connections are not tight. Judging from the larger wire size from the pump itself, the pump draws more current than the smaller wires and connector pins are capable of conducting, causing them to heat up and over time the metal becomes discolored and less conductive, causing more heat, and the plastic begins to burn and melt. You could go to a larger connector with bigger pins to handle the current draw of the pump. Or, it looks like you have some extra pins there that aren't being used for anything. You could use those extra unused pins, add one to each side/wire. That would provide an additional current path, cutting the current drawn thru each connector pin roughly in half. That would probably be all you would need to eliminate that problem....it may help your noise situation a little if you can extend your tailpipes out the back a little, getting them out from beneath the car a few inches...just a thought. Hope this helps, you really have come a long way with the old Dodge!

    is the oil control ring on the piston is packed with carbon & goop? I can't tell for sure, from what you showed, but it looks black & smooth.

    • @jonersmotors
      @jonersmotors Před 2 měsíci

      The ring is fine. It just looks like it's bad.

    • @Iowa599
      @Iowa599 Před 2 měsíci

      @@jonersmotors is that an aluminum cylinder? i've heard briggs sold some, and they wear quickly. That makes the piston rings fit loose, so they don't seal well, even if the bore is smooth. Check the end gaps on 1 & 2, make sure they are still tight. i have a Prelude that has FRM sleeves, which aren't iron. Though there is some aluminum, FRM is more like carbon fiber reinforced porcelain. The porcelain is harder than the iron piston rings, so while the end gap does get bigger, the ring is getting thinner. The cylinder is not wearing.

    • @jonersmotors
      @jonersmotors Před 2 měsíci

      It is an aluminum cylinder. Sadly, I don't think having the rings gaped correctly will stop the oil burning/ leaking compression 😔😔😔.

    • @Iowa599
      @Iowa599 Před 2 měsíci

      @@jonersmotors you will be surprised how much it helps, because when the gap is too large the rings loose tension, so they don't seal. one test is to do a dry compression test & a wet compression test, then compare the numbers. The oil put in for the wet test helps the rings seal.

    Hmm, now my first comment has disappeared, maybe because it had URL links in it? Anyway, the gist of that comment was that Steele Rubber sells new vent window weatherstrips for your car, for both the front door and rear door vent windows. They are kinda pricey though. 🙂 Good job on getting your car sealed up, and getting the interior looking good!

  • @r1lark
    @r1lark Před 4 měsíci

    Sorry for leaving two comments, but for some reason I couldn't edit the first one to add more! Your method of sealing the vent windows was much cheaper than buying new weatherstrips! You also may want to check into getting an original or reprint of the Factory Shop Manual for your car, it should show you things like how to take the window out, adjust it, etc. Also the Factory Parts Manual is a good thing to have, since it will show the various parts in an 'exploded' view to give you a good feel for how things work and come apart/go back together. Parts manual is also helpful when you need to replace original parts -- many vendors go by the original MoPar part numbers.
