    Mom was staring at the son. He hit her with his bat and the kids helped and blamed it on falling. They did this to protect the new dad. Mom is a black widow. With the help of the daughter, mom killed the first father by slowly poisoning him which probably took months and eventually buried him in the garden. Which is where they also buried the cat. It’s a burial area. Mom doesn’t want the kids in the garden for the same reason she doesn’t want to move, she doesn’t want anyone to find the missing father’s body. With the new boyfriend, mom is trying to enlist the kids in again to win him over. Like you said the one daughter is trying to push him away to protect him. But when they get married, mom starts getting the daughter to start poisoning him again. I’m sure at some point the one kid was going to warn the dad so mom pushed him out a window to shut him up and scare the others. The dad tho is so nice and the kids love him so much that he manages to repair what the mom broke and unbeknownst to him they ban together and put my in a coma.

    Yeah mom killed the dad and cat with poisoning, the mean sister was trying to save him, once he proved himself as a good man the kids wanted to be protective of him and cook for him. The calligraphy spells out the deaths in the eldests room, and the kids got rid of the mother when she tried to kill the new dad for insurance money, also makes sense why she wouldn’t want to move if 1- first husband is buried in the backyard under her garden. (Deliriously happy sequence), and 2- dont spend her insurance money

    It seems like Gouki is responsible for mom's injury. He went out so suddenly and he looked surprisingly ok during the trip (I didn't expect from a hikkikomori to want to go camping with a whole noisy family). More than that, you can see him training baseball bat hit in the background during the trip, which looks a bit weird. And then, mom has head injury, hm. Also he says the last word in the whole film that is quite symbolic, like he has finished the story. From my opinion, he was waiting for a chance all these years.

    Pretty obvious dad is buried in that vegetable garden, right? I think Rie is the one who 'took care' of her mom, because it is only after the only openly violently character gets on the dad's side that something violent happens to the one that was planning to harm him.

  • @dreamerwav698

    so the idea is... the mother killed her previous husband, possibly with the help of ringo, burying him in the vegetable garden. cat probably tried to dig it up and she had to get rid of that too. the older children are aware of this whole thing even if only vaguely, ringo runs away out of guilt or maybe something more sinister. the dead son was possibly killed by gouki tho i have no idea. after killing her husband she did too good of a job and now she cant get his life insurance payout bc hes not technically dead, so she gets remarried for double income. the father isnt accepted by the family because theyre probably scared hes gonna get killed too so they either try and push him away or try not to get attatched. the older brother being pushed out the window is possibly to keep him quiet as intimidation or an actual attempt at murder, who knows. as the father becomes more accepted and ringo comes back, now we have the life insurance payout and the two are legally married, making her eligible for his life insurance payout. now he starts getting served the food that probably made the original husband sick and actually die from the mother and ringo. they go on a family trip where gouki, who has been stewing in this the whole time, decides its time to act and joins them with the express purpose of killing his mother to save the new father as well as protecting the rest of the family. im missing shit here but idrc just needed to write this all out to get it straight in my head

    Best dad character frfr Mans really stepped up fr. But yeah, imho the theory of "Mom has gone too far, we're tired of this, time for mom to take a fall" is pretty solid. I'd assume the older kids who knew about this/caught on to the mom's shenanigans probably wanted to stop following her reign of terror.

    What if Sumio, the Step-Father was in on murdering the Real Father with the Mother. It is said that the Mother and Step Father met at work, perhaps they had an affair and then concocted the plan to murder the original Father. Later on when he suspected or even saw off camera the Mother harming her own children he pushed his now Wife putting her into a Coma. Essentially hijacking and taking complete ownership of someone else's family, as his wish for a 'happy' family all his own was so strong it drove him to murder to get it.

    • @vladtheinhailer1428
      @vladtheinhailer1428 Před 2 dny

      I think probably this comment/theory is the correct one. Especially with the shot of the Eldest Son in the background practice swinging a baseball bat. Mine above is just my Horror Movie loving brain putting it's own subversion of the subversion twist on the story. @aaaaaaaaa26810 My understanding is that the mom killed her first husband and buried him in that garden, and had a plan to kill this one too. The older kids figured it out, Ringo ran away and got involved with a shady guy, and Gouki was so traumatized that he became a shut in. Maybe the kid that died threatened to report her, or tried to tell people - we know she isn’t above harming her kids to keep her secret, and even said she doesn’t care if one of them goes missing when they are playing around the garden. When she got together with the second husband, her plan was to kill him too once they were legally married (for the insurance money). That’s why Rie was so violent; she wanted to drive him away from the family. The mother probably did it by poisoning; she first tested it on the cat, and then used it to kill the first husband, and she was already actively trying to kill the second (to me that was clear when one of the younger kids mentioned the dish he was eating was their father’s favorite, and the cat used to like it too), but Ringo wouldn’t let her cook, to protect the new father. This new father was so nice - saving Ringo, trying to actually be a good parent for the others - that the kids decided to get rid of their mom to protect him. I think that’s why Gouki decided to leave his room; Ringo told her plan to him when she was whispering in his ear - and he was on board.

  • @gooblop
    @gooblop Před 3 dny

    I think the "theory" is obviously true, quite a few bits of the dialogue are hinting directly at this, but it does go deeper than this video covers. Like, the theory about Rie hitting the father to scare him off, there is no other interpretation for the "why are you so good" scene honestly, she is quite direct about the fact that the thing bothering her is that her family is rotten and the father is too good and should get away from them. As for the mother getting hurt instead of the father, you can actually explain this through the context clues quite well. The basic plot in the background is that the mother enlisted the kids to help kill their abusive father in the 1st movie, but after getting a taste of the life insurance money and getting away with it she decides to do it again. The man she picks is nice and doesn't deserve it, so the kids form a coup against her and this is why she is injured and the father is ok. Pretty much every scene leads into this conclusion directly. All of the kid's actions and words can be explained through their guilt about the previous incident, or in the case of the younger kids being innocent but giving details they shouldn't, like how the young boy directly says his mother and siblings often talked about how the 1st father couldn't work and what they should do about it, and the line about constantly talking about insurance. Tthe theory about Ringo poisoning the father is spot on, they poisoned the last father and cat... except she's only pretending to poison the 2nd father. She actually tastes the food herself on camera after seasoning it, which is a hint to the viewer that it's truly safe. She's also the one to secretly tell the hikikomori about the trip and gets him on their side, the grief he feels over the past can finally be overcome with a 2nd chance to "do the right thing". This isn't conjecture either, the signs on his room are ALL hidden meanings like "Mom's a psycho". He spells out directly in some that he helped kill his father with a baseball bat, and notably the next time we see his room the paper about killing moves from the back of the room to the front... right next to the one about his mom. And what is he doing on the trip? Swinging his bat for "practice", and a head injury of this type can absolutely be played off as "falling and hitting your head on a rock" if enough witnesses confirm it.

  • @angiadcock8196
    @angiadcock8196 Před 3 dny

    So here’s my theory on the whole thing. First husband was either going through a breakdown or always violent and he ended up hitting one of the girls. The mom convinced the older kids they had to help her kill the husband to keep all of them safe. They do, refining their dosage of poison on the cat like others have said, then bury him in the garden. Ringo and Gould both deal with the guilt in the ways shown in the film, the “middle aged” kids figure out what happened and the mom is threatening them or hurting them to keep them quiet. Then the mom starts to target stepdad for some reason (my theory is she resents having 2 more children with him) and at first the kids sort of side with their mom but then realize what a good dude he is and then they plan the mom’s accident to keep her from killing him. I don’t think this is a revolutionary take on the film. I think a lot of this is laid out in the film and in other comments. But I do think the fact that we’re all so feverishly debating small details and nuances shows how well crafted this story is.

    I hate how conditioned I am to be suspicious of step fathers who seem too invested in their kids’ happiness. I kept waiting for the shoe to drop that he killed the previous husband and had like extorted the mom into marrying him or something. But no, just a genuinely good dude trying his best.

    @Canis.Lupus.Arctos Před 4 dny

    not sure why this came up on my feed, but I liked your analyses, specially for the fact that you don't seem to know much Japanese (neither Japanese culture, guessing here), so let me help you out cuz you probably won't be able to unravel some of the details behind this series... but 1st let me say this series (and this particular installment) is probably much more fun for foreigners than Japanese people (for me at the very least lol), all of the puns are very obvious (and not that creative either really lol), not only that but here there are many of the tropes ubiquitous to Japanese movies/TV (anime included)... 1- there's no "trilogy" to this particular story, and the reason for the confusing titles is: the series name is 放送禁止 (roughly: banned for broadcast), and is divided in 2 segments: TV版 (for tv) and 劇場版 (feature film)... now this one, is actually the sequel, named " ニッポンの大家族 Saiko! The Large family 放送禁止 劇場版2 " released as a feature film in 2009 (says on the title itself, second on the segment itself), the "prequel" named " 放送禁止2 ある呪われた大家族 " is numbered 2 as per the TV release, in 2003... so actually watching this _after_ the prequel would be chronologically correct and help you understand the events unfolding here... 2- your analysis of the puns is largely correct, despite many commenters bellow believing you're wrong... and yes, many of the calligraphy ones do play heavily on cross-language tropes... in fact despite many foreigners believing カタカナ (Katakana) is only relegated for foreign words, this is a huge misconception, and yes was created for that purpose BUT along w/ ひらがな (Hiragana) both are also used to impart emphasis to words and phrases, specially when word play is the goal... also, 漢字 (Kanji) is used in a similar way, called 当て字 (Ateji) which tries to match the phonetically "regardless" of the meaning... so, now some fun facts: the surname Ura - 浦 is not very common, so probably was chosen for being phonetically identical to 裏 (underside) which is commonly used to denote "not visible to the public eyes"... now, a couple of folks did break down the puns very well in some comments bellow, so I don't want to rehash here, but since I say the puns are bad here's some examples: バット一発 (one swing "bat") and 十三振だ (13 strikeouts) does indeed seem like baseball references (as mum tells us, lol), and together it does easily read as "batto ippatsu tousan shinda" (dad died in one bat strike) but also is nonsensical as a baseball reference, so is very obvious... reason still fitting is that for current times 書道 (Shodou) is not uncommon to play w/ words, and even use Katakana. But this one is kinda clever and ridiculous 猛虎 ロスしかない " Mou ko rosu shikanai " cuz indeed most Japanese will understand the Hanshin reference (and their decades long loss streak on the nationals) but is indeed very "in your face" lol... but then again the puns are very subjective...

    wait i think what people says in this comment about ringo saving new dad is true cause when she was asked what was inside the powder she said its kelp (or it's supposed to be, before she switch whats inside) and when veronica tried it she says it tastes like salt but of course it is because it really is just salt now, with ringo being able to show the film crew that it wasn't poison because the mom is not there anymore something i learned after watching apothecary diary is that some kelp can be dangerous and kill you if not properly treated so i guess the mom used seaweed as the poison also something about the oyakodon i think is another message that we still don't get, i know it has double meaning and it was also stated in the movie that it means chicken egg ricebowl and also parents children relationship but what else/what does this imply?

    I agree that the older kids know and very well may have participated and I feel like maybe rie was having a guilty conscience and trying to scare the new dad away because he seemed to truly care and rie and ryuta know what his future holds, especially with Ringo back.

    I'm not japanese. But when I learned basic japanese, "is" in japanese written with "ha" but spelled "wa". so it could be "haha wa saiko desu", although it is hidden by writing it with katakana (usually for foreign word).. and also laughing is written " fu fu fu" in japanese comic (manga), not "ha ha ha"
