I tried vaseline with salt mixed in. Works for like 1 day, then rain washes the salt away easily leaving the vaseline which doesn't bother them at all. Tried slug traps and most just slither out. I'm going to attempt to draw it, build a model the see if I am capable of doing this for our kitchen. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing idea and build.

@@BobKelland I tried them last night, and they really dislike them; I have made a bleach mist spray to use before sleep, which hopefully will also degrade their trails as they likely follow each other. They seemed to dislike all spices when I wafted them near them, but I'm hoping black pepper will be more resilient in terms of staying power. It also occurs to me that moth balls might be pretty good in a bad situation as they last a long time.

As you clearly know a lot about chainsaw oils, I wonder what you think about this. Would it be ok to use, instead of chainsaw bar/chain oil, to use vacuum pump oil? That's the oil used in a vacuum pump like what's used to suck out the air in an air conditioner system. I can't find my danged chainsaw oil, which I kind of need right now, but I have a case of the danged vacuum pump oil. So I wonder if that's ok or a bad idea? I just bought one of those pole saws. It's a small electric chain saw on the end of an extendable pole (up to 9 feet). It says that the oil pump is automatic as it has no little bulb to push. I used it yesterday, but the oil level is exactly the same and the chain seems dry. So I removed the chain and bar to look at the "auto oil" thingy and it's nothing more than a little, tiny hole that I assume goes into the oil tank itself. It seemed clear, but I blew into the oil tank to see if the oil would push out, but it did not. So I think this is a defect from the manufacturer. I won't go into how ridiculous it is to deal with them! So I want to go old school, like I used to do with my old chainsaw where the oil thingy didn't even work. I just kept oil in one of those little oil cans with the flexible nozzle and finger pump. I would just oil the chain/bar ever few minutes. So since I can't find any extra chain oil around, I'm wondering if this vacuum pump oil would be ok. I also have some motor oils around... 5x30, 10w20 and another type, which I can't remember its number right now. LOL Ideas??
