Channel dedicated to showing some of the material produced by the team at Rhondda Enterprise video unit from 1984 to 1988. Rhondda Enterprise Ltd was set up by a group of local people concerned about the unemployment situation for young people in both valleys in the late 1970s and 80s. The video project started in May 1984 and was financed by the Goverment's Community programme scheme.
The films were aimed at senior citizens living the Rhondda and focused on recording newsworthy events and people. A team of 1 full time worker and 3 assistants produced over 14 half hour films which were shown at nearly 50 day centres, care homes , social clubs and hospitals across the Rhondda.
The team members were based at the old Thorn EMI dynatel plant in Treochy and included Nicholas Gibbon, Pat Owen, Martin Griffiths, Gwyn Francis, Paul Evans, Scott Jones, David Morgan, Tony Rees and Mark Ashford.

No unfortunately funding ran out in 88/89 - not sure what happened to the rest of the archive - this material came from copies made as showreels
Hello Rhondda Vision - are you still active?
I went to Valley Aid, It was an absolutely scorching day and I had quite a lot of beer. Fell asleep, got sunburn, lost my watch playing an impromptu game of rugby, went home, fell asleep again, woke up just in time to get cleaned up and go to Charmond's night club, and pulled a gorgeous 23 yr old (I was 20). Happy days.
The valleys today are no go areas so very sad to see .
Why is that...
Morlais Gala Day 1987: I Was There!
This is a great archive! As a 28 year old from Ferndale, I would love to see more of The Rhondda that I can just about remember. Please upload more if you can.
