Congratulations. I have been following you guys for about 6 years. I have a question that I would love for you to help me with. I want to justify my impact of applying best practice to a data model. Before: Previous Analyst wrote an SQL script to import data from Oracle into a Dataflow. Some additional steps were required in the Dataflow, which broke query folding: (i.e. remove columns / rename columns / replace blanks with 'C') The data from this Dataflow was loaded into Power BI. 8 additional Calculated Columns were created in Power BI (using DAX) to apply a complex fix to recategorized certain groupings based on a business logic. After: I rewrote the SQL to apply (remove columns / rename columns / replace blanks with 'C') in the script using a CTE and then I used a combination of CTEs and Window functions to perform the groupings that were previously performed in Power BI (using DAX) in one SQL script. The dataflow now has only one step and so is query folding. I no longer have any calculated columns in the semantic model. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the steps that I did was following best practice but I am unsure of how I quantify what was the impact of re-writing the sql script. Any help would be much appreciated!
