After working as a mechanic and fabricator for almost 25 years, I’ve decided to share some of what I do and what I love best. Working on and modifying vehicles.
About me:
I am a both a qualified mechanic and qualified auto electrician. I have worked as a mechanic in both Australia and overseas. I’ve worked in roles such as a general workshop hand, to head mechanic, foreman, service manager, and also tried my hand at working in spare parts for a few years.
After all these years, my passion for cars has never changed. Hoping to share of some of that passion, as well as some of the things I’ve learnt over the year with you all.
Thanks for the support ❤️👌🏻🧑🏼🔧

Testing Our Budget BA Drift Build, & The VY’s New L67 @ Vicdrift Calder Park 06/07/24
In this episode, we load up our 2 drift cars and head to Calder Park raceway for a bit of a Holden vs Ford drift battle.
The nerves are high as we are testing the Calais with a semi fresh build. Since last time out it has a different engine and gearbox, new clutch, new suspension, new fuel system, and more.
Jason’s Falcon is a full fresh build.
Both cars drove off the trailers in the morning, had a full day of racing, and drove back on the trailers in the evening. How good!!
Special thanks to Peter Marrinon for coming out to do a bunch of filming and for all the hard work he does behind the scenes.

Hey mate, when drilling the dowels how far in do I drill? So the depth from flywheel being starting point how far in from there? And what were the dimensions of the stainless steel dowels?
Install the flywheel and use it as a guide for the drill bit. Once the drill bit is sitting in the flywheel butted up to the back of the crank, you want to drill in around 8mm depth. From memory the dowels are 8mm x20mm
@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk thanks mate, you are to good 👍
Great video I enjoyed watching it. But I do have to correct you, the icc screen is a mk1 coloured screen. Most xr6 xr8 g6 had monochrome, the g6e and some xr had the coloured, Mk2 are a bit bigger and don't have the buttons next to the screen.
Awesome video mate, plenty of good info 👍🏼
Thanks heaps legend
Try exhaust recycle system and cat delete ,that give more power than your moods
Have you watched the later videos on this car? We cover all of that
The plenum spacer is shit to get better intake on a. n/a motor high rise manifold not expanding plenum chamber 😂😂😂
I had it mate so figured I’d chuck it on.
Hey mate should make your fans run 24/7 make intake temps heaps lower so makes more power 🤟🏽I just had 10psi pully mace cold air intake cat back exhaust 4.11s and fans on 24/7 and it made 231rwhp and 540nm on dyno no tune
I have one fan running on a switch that’s in noisy off the time, the other one is still controlled by the ecu. Thing is though once the car is moving above around 60-70kmh an hour, the cooling is mitre beneficial with the fans off. The reason being is there is only a certain amount of sure the fans can pull through the radiator as they are limited to how fast they can spin. Once the car is moving at a speed which is faster than what the fans can flow, the fans can become a restriction. Hope that makes sense. So basically I have one on a switch which is on most of the time, even if I’m in the pits with the engine off for 5-10 min I keep it in. But when I’m driving the back straight I sometimes flick it off. The other fan is still controlled by the ecu
@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk yeah that makes sense mate great video btw keen to see what else you post🤟🏽
@Luxstato thanks heaps legend appreciate you watching.
Hey bro with the doughnut looking things for the tailshaft will the automatic ones fit? If not what are they called and where can I buy them? I’m in the middle of a swap right now. Cheers
Most auto ones will fit, however in the very last of the VY’s apparently there’s was some rust are a different bolt pattern. I’ve never encountered them though. V8 are different though.
@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk I have vt sedan would auto doghnuts be ok?
@richardholten8847 they should be, but just check the listing with your local parts store if they are listed the same for auto and manual for your csr
@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk thanks mate, best channel swear!
@richardholten8847 ahhhh thanks man, appreciate it
Best explanation of this job I have seen. Just one thing; some other vids show only one bush for each side whereas yours shows split bushes that you have to put in from both sides. Also it appears from other vids you have to measure the depth of the bushes to make sure you get them right otherwise parts could be rubbing.
Thanks heaps mate. Yep definitely 2 seperate halves to the bush that sandwich together. Really appreciate that awesome comment and appreciate you watching
you would think that hundreds of indians would be drifting and pumping up the scene or atleast bought out calder park then it would go up 10 times in value overnight😂😂😂😂

Pretty sure from memory they are 8mm by 20mm. Any bearing place should sell them
Thanks mate
I was the kid doing shoeys up on the fence
What a beautiful sound!
will you be leaving it auto or going manual? I’m looking for a BA to get into budget drifting and would prefer manual but would auto still be fun? Cheers
Thanks for watching mate. We’re not sure at this stage. Manual would be something we’d prefer, however we tested the car last week at Vicdrift and it did so much better then we could have expected. Jason drove it all day and said he’s never had so much fun. Plus manual conversions for Falcons cost heaps, well into the thousands, and we still want to keep this a budget build. It will definitely still be auto for the next event anyway
how do I get the engine over off?please
Just grab it from the front edge and pull up with a bit of force. It’s got four little rubber tabs that clips onto.
How much did this cost roughly
I got the conversion kit for $1000. Then some oil and a day of work
How much did it cost to do this I’m thinking of doing this
You can find complete conversion kits from anywhere from $700 to $1500. Then add score $120 for some new bits and pieces, gearbox oil etc on top of that
Did everything and just revs higher in first before still shifting to second anyway? Any ideas what I did wrong?
What model car do you have? And are you trying in drive or are you pulling it back to first gear?
Nice upgrade mate

hey mate how would I go about getting some camber without a camber kit? Adding spacers and want some camber just want to know the best way I can go about this without spending much
On a VX
You can give them about 2 1/2° of Canberra for free. All you need to do, where the upper control arm in the front bolts to those little brackets that go to the inner wheelhouse, unbolt the control arm from the brackets and re-drill the holes in the brackets 15 mm further in and down. If you watch my first video on this falcon build, I show you briefly how I’ve done it.
@cassarindustries_wheelwerk thanks mate greatly appreciate it a ton. Love your work and I have watched the videos :). Always excited to watch your videos
@cassarindustries_wheelwerk also I have a vy wagon I would like to get camber on the front do you know if there's a way to be able to do that?
@anthonyjackson3271 they have factory cancer adjustment at the bottom of the strut, but you can only run a cutie of degrees camber before the tyre touches the strut. If you want more camber than that, you will need to run wheel spacers, or wheels with more offset
Love it ❤

just did this and my car has a teeny bit of revhang now, doesn't bother me just wondering if it's anything to do with the manualisation
Thanks for the comment mate. Never encountered that issue before. The wired that are messed with for this mod only wires to the auto, so can’t see how it would affect anything engine related. Done dozens of these and never had that problem, so not sure

Morning mate thanks for the video, I was wondering if I could hit you for some advice? Pretty around what this vlog was about but an Intech. I bought my young fella a n Au ute motor seized a fortnight ago. Found another motor to go in it, but I was wondering if the same things should be done on the Intech as you done on the green top?
Happy to offer advice where and when I can mate. I’d absolutely say those things would be great to do while the motor is out. When an engine is out, everything is just so accessible. Water pump, rear main seal, front crank seal are probably the minimum I’d day. Thermostat, and rocker cover gasket I would also recommend, but they are also easily done in the car.
@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk thanks heaps, nothing that is specific to the Intech that you’re aware of then? I would love to Barra swap it but I want him alive🫣
@grahamparsons1070 not really mate. Serviced regularly they are a pretty good engine. They are common for head gasket leaks, especially oil leaking from the head gasket around the front and back of the engine. Don’t worry mate, the in tech motors respond really really well to boost just like the barras 😊👨🏻🔧

Can ya do this with v8 commys too all the series vs to vy vx ? Ve?
VX and VY V6 are the same and that’s where it stops. VS is different, VT is different again, and VE is totally different. Looking at diagrams i think this will work on Vx and VY V8 also, however I’ve never tried it
Sounds ehh need a hotdog where the resinator is

Wow, that’s going to be a GREAT challenge! Go for it mate. Looking forward to see it when it’s ready. Jason, you’ve got the best teacher mate, go for it 🚙 🇲🇹😆😊
As always thanks so much for watching Zio
I thought you could connect the auto to manual vss, wire the inhibitor for reverse and bridge the park cutoff and just throw the manual memcal into the auto ecu.
You can modify the auto wiring to work in a manual, but there’s a lot of extra wiring that just sits under the car. So this is a neater option and the proper way to do it. Also, VY ECU’s don’t have a removable memcal like earlier commodores. So you have to either still run an auto ECU, or run a manual ECU with an auto wiring harness. Best way to do it if you want a manual, is to run a manual harness with a manual ECU as that’s the way it was meant to be. However, if you can’t get those parts then there’s always other options. But if you can get them, use them. Because they are super easy to change anyway, just need to program it
Does the cruise still work. It just turns of with the brake applied?
Yes mate cruise control still works. Cruise turning off when the brakes applies is a normal thing in any car
It sounds so bad 😭
It really did at the start! But once it got a bit of carbon buildup in the Exhaust, it actually wasn’t that bad
Quick question (cause I’m not a mechanic) the knock, is that a big end? Looking forward to watching this series 👌
Hit the nail on the head mate. Well, it’s hard to say without pulling the motor apart. But my guess would be a big end. I also suspect damage to a piston on the same cylinder, as one cylinder has almost no compression, and the engine is very very Smokey
@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk thanks heaps mate for the quick reply, haven’t been here for a bit my apologies. Hope you’re all well 👍
