As to Lee’s racism, it was no worse than Charles Darwin’s. And it has been reported that when General Grant, own his world tour, was consulted by the Emperor of Japan, who was managed in a rapid modernization of his Empire, he expressed doubts about democracy, Leading the Emperor to prefer something more like that British system.

Good presentation. Despite a keen intellect, and a command of facts, Mr Guelzo seems incapable of truly understanding the mindset of a man like Lee, and of the Confederates, generally. This is no indictment of Mr. Guelzo, just an observation of not only him, but of almost all unionist-minded historians. We all have our shortcomings where understanding people and history are concerned.

Watching this video you could think that hunger in 1932-33 were caused by Stalin. It is not true. The cause of famine in 1932-1933 were challenging farming conditions and agricultural backwardness inherited from the Russian Empire. During the 19th century hunger happened every 4 years, catastrophic hunger happened every 10-12 years. For example, there was a hunger in 1891-1892, 1897-1898, 1906-1907. Almost 3 million people died without any hunger in 1889. It was natural mortality in Russia. So called “Holodomor” - hunger in 1932-1933 in Ukraine (part of USSR) was only the part of a hunger in several regions, including Hungary, Kazakhstan.
