Bombarde Music at the Berry Festival of Traditional Musics
zhlédnutí 16KPřed 9 lety
This instrument comes from Brittany, Western France. Ancestor of the double reed present day Oboe. Usually played in couple with the Brittany Bagpipe called Biniou. The Bombarde plays half the time of the Biniou because playing continuously would make the player breathless as it is exhausting. The Bombarde has a very powerful sound ( the name comes from the Bombarde - a 14th century cannon shoo...
Trying out an All Metal Banjo

2004. Good memories with Bill. This banjo is a maker's challenge. Metal is used exclusively except the plastic head. The neck is T shaped with holes to lighten the instrument. It is quite playable as you can see but the sound is slightly...metallic.

This footage is historical since all Sprague-Thomson trains are now withdrawn. Even Tourist sightseeing Trains. Shot in the driving cab. The controler activated by the Engineer's right hand was invented by Franck Julian Sprague. The talabarder is talented. (talabarders are persons who play bombarde, that's a Breton word)

Sharon knows how to do everything ! 👍😅😂👍
What are the tune names please?
Happy dance. Old kind French provience. My dream to live in French village
are the sounds of the f7 in train sim
I love you France
Cette danse vient de l'Auvergne
Interesting. Sounds very "northern"
Que vous êtes beaux!!🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
What locomotive is that?
Nearly all SNCF trains have the same two tone horn I believe regardless if it is a high speed or non high speed train/locomotive.
A brutal 264 bpm tempo, huh. The girl is formidable. What is the name of the tune?
Like, like 😘 bravo,like,bises!!
Is this loco a high hood type?
Yes
Its like a squeaky Oboe, and thats not an insult i honestly love it.
Take on me...
Is the locomotive's number a 3? Because if it is, number 3 is switching at a mill near me
We getting outta serfdom with this one 🌜🤝🌛🔥🔥
love this- great scene in black robe of this type
I love this sound of the bombarde and your great performance. Could you please advise, where I can buy such a mulit-oktave bombarde with several metal keys? Would be great, thanks, mate! 🙏🙏
We dont usually use multi oktav with the bombard ! You have just to blow harder ;)
THIS IS A GP9
Who eles doin the packet for school🔥
TGV is a very based train, that was awsome
Most definitely not in its element. I rode in those extensively, while in France1964-67. My favourite model, as a long time juice fan (because it’s ancient). I also rode in the newer ones then; but with lesser feeling. Glad to see that this was saved. No problem in the métro, I speak French as first language. One of the métro stations has 8 levels.
What a noise.
Wonderful! I love it!
this instrument is the descended if the ancient zurna used in Armenia 🇦🇲 and many other nations
Parle français.... Ta honte ou quoi ?
The TGV is and will always be my favorite high-speed French train It has the best horn sound
What is the name of this music they played?
Fantastic !!!
Looks like alternate reality Trevor and Ricky from trailerparkboys
Who knew Americans would be so offended by a freakin’ horn… 🥲
It's hilarious, love seeing all the foamers whine about the new acela's horn. I think it's pretty cool tbh
I'm from the US and I like TGV horns. I like it on the Avelia Liberty. The K5LA's, K5LLA's, and K5HL's are for freight.
Any idea if they’ve recorded any music together or anyone with a similar sound to look into? This is amazing
Even though our train speeds are shit, we have much better horns
Is the instrument with the wheel a hurdy gurdy, or something different?
Yep it’s a hurdy gurdy (in french vielle à roue)
Very nice! It would be even better if the uploader would add a few words to the video description (explaining, for example, in which city/country this was filmed).
My favorite unit's were Emd SD 40s & 60S .
For this year's vacation, my wife and I went to France. My first time. Also my first time riding in a TGV (to Le Mans). Wow. As a model train hobbyist I was just ecstatic. So fast, smooth, and comfortable. We reached a speed of 186 mph. Fastest I'd ever gone on land! Lol. Beautiful country, awesome food and wine, and very courteous people. We will certainly be back for more. Thanks for sharing!
Had you continued to Renne, you would have reached 200 (320kph) ;)

Who are the musicians?
We think we are so hip and cool and this is what the French were doing in the 1700s...
The festival at Chateau d'Ars. I know some of the crowd but members of the group are Maxou, Fredric and manu Paris from La Chavannée. Luckily I live nearby and am there every year. Originally known as the Festival St Chartier which was founded in 1976 to honour 100 years since the death of Georges Sands, who lived a few Km from there, and wrote a novel about the Maîtres Sonneurs. ( local bagpipe players.)
Maybe the uploader will eventually add this basic information to the video description above, so everyone may learn more.
