Didn't know they had striped bassvin SoCal. I live in NY. We catch monster up to 50 lbs. In the Hudson River. Out in Montauk 40 to 50 lbs on eels.

Okay, I just found you guys and I thought I would check you out. My father just passed away last week so I haven't fished this week, so I hit the play button and as you are launching, my wife walks in the room and sees the CF number and says - That is your dad's old boat. He ordered it new, I think in 1976 or 1978. Great boat. We caught so much fish on that thing. At one time he had it registered commercial. I don't remember when he sold it, I think in the 80's, I was fishing on super seiners and lost track of time. I glad I found you guys on here. Way to get out and get it done. This put a huge smile on my face. Danny and Kim on the Kimfish, San Diego, CA. Hope to see you out there someday.

Weight. Is everything. Whaler probably weighs less. Whaler raw haul is about 300lbs. Find an 11' and put a 35hp omc. Those are only 220lbs and scream with that motor. Cool video thanks

Motor trim is important. For getting out of the hole, trim the motor down, then once you're on plane trimming more parallel to the hull should allow for a faster top speed.

That is where I fished for the very 1st time in 1970. I was 4 years old and caught Tom Cod for days! The rest is history : )

I would also make a console on the Boston whaler... I have a Quell Dory 13 (copy of the BW) with black hull, gray interior and black console, I'm waiting to launch it.

I enjoy watching you all have fun. I am 50 and reminds me when I was a young man with my skiff, I now have a 30 foot CC, but I had just as much fun fishing LB area/Breakwall/Alamitos/HHarbor with my skiff as I do chasing Pelagics now(more travel time/less fishing), I still fish inshore but my 30 footer isn't as handy in the bays. I will look for you and say hi if I see you, I am at Sunset Aquatic Marina.
