What a great car. Can you hear the envy?
Absolument fantastique. MERCI POUR CE PRÉCIEUX 😢 )))))) ❤ HISTORIQUE FILM
When is GB going to get rid of those horrible billboard sized license plates?
Always loved driving with a half tonneau cover in crisp fall weather.
A pity a photo of this particular twin cam MGA engine was not included in this brief video. I'm sorry for the loss of your son.
A beautiful car and driven properly, thank you for sharing this.
Rest in peace.
Awesome car!
A friend of mine, may he rest in piece, spent years restoring a green twin cam MGA to virtual perfection here in NZ. He took me with him to help celebrate his first drive after a few beers. Insisted I wear my seat belt. No law in those days. He was speeding. Slammed into another car and wrecked this beautiful MG twin cam. Great pity.
What's the hp and nm?
Nice
WOW amazing footage. this is solid gold ! keep hoping to see mine here....
That may be one of the cleanest E28's I've seen other than the ones I saw brand new in the 80's.
Should I always use optical flow or just when I am changing the speed of the video?
very nice film. rip mark
I also revisit this film periodically. It fills me with joy, envy, and sadness that Mark is no longer with us. I hope the new owner of the car knows its history
"it's fun to drive in the canyons". As an owner of three MG's in my life - a midget, an 1100, and an MGB-GT, I can wholeheartedly agree with that statement. No, I couldn't beat many cars off the line, but very few could keep up with me on a windy mountain road. Fantastic handling, those cars!!!
"Electrics are all new so I can get in and drive, like now." Yup. Don't happen with a Lucas system.
most cancer is environmentally caused
How can there possibly be 4 thumbs down on this film? Two thumbs up from this fellow red MGA owner... !!
Hi, is this Range Rover for sale
Oh, I am so sorry. I should have read the comments before commenting. RIP Mark
Hi Mark, I just came across your video, very impressed! Love your twin cam, wish it was mine! I am 71 now and remember waiting for 1 minute after midnight on my 21st birthday to drive my 1600 Mk2. That was in 1970! Great cars. The twin cam did not have a reputation for reliability but you appear to have sorted that issue. Merry Christmas Clive Winters UK Ps. I drive an F Type now
Don't expect a reply from Mark.. If you watch the video to the end you will come across the part with.. Mark 1967-2016.. and if you'd read some of the comments saying RIP Mark.. It should be obvious why
Very nice range rover classic, looks in great condition 👍🏼
Great video of a good man and his great MGA!! 🎩🎩👍👍
This video caught my eye immediately because it was the most beautiful MGA I have ever laid eyes on. Mark drives the car just like I would, throwing it around some beautiful corners in a California canyon. A truly joyful few minutes watching a seamless blending of man and machine. When I saw Mark’s epitaph at the end I was truly shocked and saddened. How unfair. The man is finally doing what he loves and is cut down. RIP.
Super nice.
Wicked e28 man. Ive got an 84. Hat tip for keeping it classy; sporty but non-stanced. They truly dont make cars like this anymore. Shame!
Ahi ahi ahja non ha I cerchi coi raggi quindi non è fedele all originale
Do a bit of research...the twin cam MGAs all had peg drive wheels and were not fitted with spoke/wire wheels.
Thanks man, you just save me a lot of time rendering..
Nice lipo! Very subtle.
Apparently the motor was extremely difficult to keep all adjusted properly and they didn't use it in the MGB.
The twin cam had some problems, notably a tendency to burn pistons. Many years later it was discovered that the cause was vibration in the carburetors. The solution was to use a rubber O-ring between carburetor and manifold.
@@pashakdescilly7517 Never heard that before.
@@writerjmd I got that from a 'Classic Cars' in-depth analysis of the twink, maybe 1980, in the days when it gave real technical information. The part they use to fix the issue is a Weber O-ring made for the same job
This one sounds a lot snappier than the 61 MGA 1600 I had in the 60’s
Modified, of course.
Mr Cluely and Mr Nolan will love this. How was this discovered?
What a beauty!
I had a used one as a kid in the late sixties. Fun to drive lots of character under powered wouldn't take the curves as fast as Id liked to. All in all a car II will never forget the looks and style are gorgeous, a poor mans race car.
Fabulous! You should get in touch with Jay Leno.
This video brought back memories! In 1964 I was hanging around with a BMC dealer owned racing team and one of their cars was an MGA Twin Cam. For some reason they chose #13 as their racing number and the poor car lived up to that number's bad luck reputation! While racing at Lime Rock Connecticut the wooden floor boards caught on fire due to the exhaust pipe being too close to the wood. By the time the driver realized he was on fire the flames had reached up under the dashboard and melted the insulation on quite a few wires. Not long after this they were racing at Thompson Raceway and they blew a crankshaft and that was the end of the car's racing career. Three main bearings were simply not up to the task! Shortly after this I purchased the engineless chassis for ... drum roll please... $450! The car came completely set up for racing. Roll bar, oil cooler, anti roll bar, etc. It was also equipped with an almost new set of Goodyear Bluestreak racing tires. I wound up buying a junk yard MGA engine for $150, rebuilding it, and installing it in place of the Twin Cam. Nervous about the unlucky #13 on both doors/hood/trunk I used black electricians tape to turn the 1 into a 4 and kept my fingers crossed that Richard Petty's # 43 would bring me good luck. I eventually drove the car for 2 years and aside from a few problems with the 4 wheel Dunlop disk brakes (leaky wheel cylinders and warped rotors) it proved to be a reliable and very enjoyable car. Eventually I wound up trading the car to a friend for his 1965 MGB. Sadly despite the number change the car's bad luck returned and a drunk driver crashed into the car and totaled it! Sad ending indeed!
Great story , thank you for sharing it.
"Full details to come" when?
I had one in 1958 and one at present . This video is a great tribute to this man and his car .
Was that the gas cap at 3:19 ?
Beautiful film. No other words. Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful video made all the more interesting for me as I did my apprenticeship at Dear Bros in West Moors which was the garage owned by Geff Dear & his brothers Jack & Les. Geff used to do practice starts in the MGA from the front of the workshop into Pinehurst Road .
Thank you for this :)
Awesome panel and paint...
Wonder what music he listened to or if he just listened to the car.
Just the right amount of mods. That exhaust note is seductive.
I have watched this video over and over again. He was such a wonderful man and a beautiful classic.
Thanks for uploading this. Been looking to buy a VX.
