If you are just starting out on your strength training dont be a melt and go straight in at the top level. Start with a light weight, say 2 sets of 10 reps and see how you get on. If you get that muscle ache 24 hours later then you started in the right place. Then you can scale up either the reps, sets or weight progressively to keep that ache going, it means you are progressing. If you work out and feel nothing the next day then you started too light. Best bet is to add a couple of KG's to each dumbell and try again.
