Ever wonder why so many people are moving to Houston, Tx? In this video I discuss exactly what I hear from my clients time and time again as to why they are moving to Houston, Texas.
Reason 1) Cost of living: Houston Texas surprisingly is ranked 30% lower on average cost of living for larger cities in America. So many of my clients opting to flee where they are to live here in Houston Tx come from states what are crazy expensive and have priced them out of any affordable living. Things like homes, cars, gas, taxes, etc are all cheaper here in Houston Texas comparatively to a lot of other states my clients are leaving such as California, NY, or even Florida.
Reason 2) Jobs/ opportunities: Houston always seems to have a great jobs market and that is for good reasons. Our number one industry here in Houston TX is going to be oil and gas. So we have a lot of people finding new work in this industry, or getting job transfers/ promotions to all the Oil and Gas headquarters that we have in Houston Texas. Furthermore we have an amazing medical district and are actually number one in the world for Oncology. When chatting with my clients about work they are often moving to Houston for some sort of job opportunity or have a very easy time finding one.
Reason 3) Schools: A lot of my clients are having to pay for private school back where they are from just due to how poor the Public education system is in their state. Houston Texas offers a lot of really nice public school districts, many are nationally recognized such as Katy ISD, and our Woodlands schools. Furthermore Houston Tx has a lot of private school options, magnet schools, and charter schools offering an array of choices both free and paid that beat out a lot of what my clients are dealing with in their home states.
Reason 4) Weather: This one surprised me as our weather isn't the greatest in the summer. Houston TX is probably one of the hottest places you can live in the summers especially with our heat indexes climbing due to our horrible humidity levels. However, for those of us living in very cold places with blizzards and foot deep snow it can be an attractive trade off. So many people like to move to Houston for more mild winters.
Reason 5) New construction: So many of my clients tell me that there is no new construction where they are from. Since Houston Tx has so much new construction available, many people flock to Houston just for the chance to buy a brand new home.
Reason 6) Culture/ politics: Houston is a very diverse city, in fact we speak over 172 languages out here. With that said if you are a foodie and you like to experience different cultures then Houston could be a great place for you! We love our sports, we love our great state of Texas and can be very prideful of those things. Furthermore we tend to live and let live so during some of the most strictest days in covid Houston as well as the rest of Texas enjoyed some of the most freedom when many others did not. We also are religious bunch with a lot of churches per capita. So if that describes you and you want less government interfering with what you do on a daily basis or what your child learns in school then Houston could be a great place to live!
All 6 of these reasons are what come up time and time again as I help my clients move here form all around the country and even world. They are real life examples and anectodical, however I find that real life experiences and testimonials can be the best and most truthful patterns one can observe.
