Da blättert nichts ab. Der Motorraum wurde von VW randvoll mit Dämmmaterial gestopft. Dachte damals auch das die total vergammelt sind, ist aber nur das Dämmmaterial.

I'd like to point out that the way this is designed the drain is actually lower than the tank, and requires a pump to empty. The Rialta has a freshwater pump and then a shower pump. With that said the shower pump is an ideal candidate for a recirculating shower. You can mount the filters and uv filter inside the cabinet next to the shower. The fact that the engine heats the hot water is a plus too. Very easy to set up 15 or 20 minute showers with a little over one gallon of water. A recirculating shower in most modern RV's is a lot more complex. Most poeple don't realize how well the Rialta is set up for this. Go figure a 20 plus year old RV is more adaptable than a modern one! And if somebody is at going to ask how do you dump the water after the recirculating shower, the answer is a three way motorized 12 Volt ball valve. One Direction Recirculates the water, The other direction dumps it into the gray tank or black tank in this case. And personally I would do away with the flush toilet and put a composting toilet in. A nature's head or similar would be ideal here. And another great feature of these vans have no one really mentions is there's a switch to combine the batteries so if your main battery ever gets low you can draw from the auxiliary batteries. With a DC to DC charger you can also add lithium iron phosphate batteries behind the driver seat. There's additional room where the generator is as well. With solar on the roof, you can go a long time off the grid. The only thing close to these vehicles is probably a modern day sprinter van at $100,000 up to $200,000.. Sad part is parts are getting more and more difficult to find but bus depot has a lot of the stuff you need. These are really great vans if you can find one in good shape. Interior height can be a challenge if you're more than 5'10". There is 6'2" at the skylight, which is mounted in front of the kitchen, where you normally stand.

@@TroyD-vo1bz Very nice but that doesn't explain why the shower water dumps into the black water tank. It's a poor design and most people aren't going to take the time to make all of the modifications you're suggesting. Too expensive. Let's face it. These vehicles are beyond antiquated.

The VW Rialta is not the only vehicle that does this. And I can also say the 2002 through 2006 sprinter with T1N engine are still extremely popular. Same era. The Chinook Concourse, as well as some of the older road trek's are also really popular, pleasure way, yet another, again all from the same era. I think there is quite a few people not willing to spend over $100,000 on a modern day RV, many of which are junk. There is a youtube video out there of a couple who bought a sprinter interstate for $300,000. The thing spent 3 months in the shop and was plagued with problem after problem. So, I think a case can still be made for owning an older RV. Places like Pop-Top heaven who restore these things are still going quite strong. And I will also point out that there is an outside shower. You can buy yourself a $50 pop up shower enclosure and go outside. I guess if you wanna focus on the negative you certainly can, but these Rialta were years ahead of their time in design. You can also do a simple bypass, and drain the water on the ground using a simple T and a valve. There are some great composting toilets out there, and I would replace the flush model with a unit say from Nature's head or similar. And if you're just dumping gray water that's no big deal. You can do that on the ground. Many workarounds. Maybe try focusing on the positive instead of the negative.

@@TroyD-vo1bz I'm trying to stay focused on the type of vehicle in which wer're discussing but instead you keep deflecting. It's true other vehicles and rv's have their own faults but that's not the point I was merely making an attempt to make others aware of the shortcomings of the Rialta. It's a lovely vehicle but it's not perfect.

Every vehicle has shortcomings. Easy to overcome in this case.
