Is there compatible to AetherSX2??
Growing up, my dad had the third game in this series. It holds a special place in my heart because he was very unpleasant to be around, so whenever my family visited him, I could at least forward to playing Boku no Natsuyasumi 3. I know this is the second one, but still, it's the same series so it holds some nostalgia. I hope many English speakers enjoy these games too. Thank you a lot for spreading these games to the world!
I want to try to fan translate a game, and I've never modded games before. I will watch this in full when I have the time, but I just wanted to say, thanks for creating this unformative video, even if the subject is very niche
2D facial animations should have been done more during the ps2 era. Much more expressive and better than attempting low poly mesh animations.
Do you think you can do an undub bro?
5:41 The two in the middle and the one on the right are definitely sprites for the boost controllers. the two in the middle look like analog dial style boost controllers, like what you would find on tuned Porsche 930 Turbos or something. The one on the right looks like the control unit of an electronic boost controller, like an HKS EVC - these also featured Scramble settings. i bet the middle left one is the B-con, the one on the middle right is the Tri-Boost, and the one on the far right is the Phantom
The work you did on this game is amazing, and while I didn't know it existed as of a few days ago, I am happy that I'm able to play it on my PS2 now. Thank you.
Brother, please can you translate rest of the Boku No Natsuyasumi games? And also the Twilight Syndrome and Moonlight Syndrome games for PS1? I know I am asking way too much but I would seriously love to play those gems and I can't count on anyone but you for these games. Thanks for translating all the other gems. You are a legend in the Retro Gaming Community
Can you extract 3d models as well?
I've downloaded the game, but i can't play the game because there is no .iso file
The dub in this game is anime level! Never read of it before.
本当にありがとうございました!!!
So, what tools should I prepare to make a translation? Could you list all the tools needed, please?
Big thanks to people who spend their time so more people can enjoy great game.
Racing Lagoon is so unique of a game it practically abused vram... that's crazy
Thanks so much for making these videos, the work is incredibly impressive! Six weeks sounds quite short for the amount of steps and curveballs the game threw at you and your team. I appreciate the details you go for when making a translation patch such as implementing the descenders/ascenders here or the beautiful texture translation work in Boku no Natsuyasumi. I hope we get a BokuNatsu hacking video sometime. Have a great day :)
Man, i wish the psp games could've translated one day, it would be helpful tbh to give a try to this saga
Just finished this yesterday. Thanks for the hard work! (Any chance you'll be considering the other games in the series?)
how do y use the rom step by step
if you don't understand the 4bpp image font with 4 1bpp images inside, imagine a 7(8, 10, 32, ecc...)-segment display, with every combination of on or off segments compose different numbers and simbols.

Could you translate shin megami tensei devil children ps1?
Tbh this content is way better than ur previous content. Continue with these type of content maybe how to RE protobuf files or use frida lol
I was considering translating the Super FamiCom version of Romancing SaGa 2. This is some really useful information. After seing this video, it seems to be complicated to participate in a translation project, but if the game is something I really love, I think I'd do it. Thank you very much for this video
Why doesn't ghida define all instructions?
What a fabulous video and soothing voice.
Love the onion analogy, funny way of explaining it but very effective and easy to understand.
thank you for sharing!
This showed up in my chrome "new tab" recommended feed of all places. I didn't even know that thing COULD recommend individual CZcams videos. Doubly weird in that this apparently isn't supposed to be public yet apparently? Anyways, this channel seems like an absolutely fantastic resource for the randomizers I work on. Maybe I'll see how viable MML2 might be as a multiworld randomizer?
it's so refreshing to see a romhacking video with narration and detailed breakdown of what's going on. even if people don't fully grasp it, it's enjoyable to watch. I've seen many romhacking videos in the past and most of them are terrible, they have weird techno music playing and text across the screen for us to read. some videos don't explain anything, they act like we're supposed to just know what they're doing. but your videos are really motivating me to get back into it. I have a question about rebuilding discs, would it be possible to add additional content to the disc? like say I want to add a new graphic file or bin, can i modify the exe to have it point to the new data I just added? i've heard of code cave but i was wondering if i can just add new data in instead
Yes, it's possible. On PS1, you would need to check the SDK for the file loading functions and use those, and also find empty room in VRAM to put the graphics and upload it there so you can render it later. This was actually done by Esperknight on the Linda Cubed translation to add a font for the cutscene subtitles.
Can you make an English patch for "Not Treasure Hunter"? (Ps1)
this man needs more recognition!
This was recommended off my Twitter feed, and was the first time I had ever heard of you. Thanks for this awesome video!
Yooo. This shit is awesome. I like it cause it helps me visualize memory instead of seeing stack/heap boxes drawings. This might be a bad example, but Lets say you'd want to re-order something to be rendered. Common answer is to slap a whole struct into a linked-list/ references of it. But with a function pointer you could... just effectively re-arrange the function calls instead of re-ordering/re-alloc memory on the heap/stack.
Long time follower here. Im glad thats hacker like you works in PS1 games. PS1 library is vast and fragmented. Very few hackers in PS1 scene are heard about.
haha yay
They will carve your name by fist alone in stone for the work youve done. Legend.
Thanks for sharing your expertise
Racing oil pan could've been used for: 1. Increased engine oil capacity; engine would take longer to reach optimal temps, but also stay at optimal temps more easily, since it increases the thermal mass of the engine 2. Baffles to prevent oil from sloshing, the largest benefit would've been to prevent oil starvation (which some engines were prone to with factory oil pans in very high G turns)
Man I understood the basic part, I'll watch the rest to have everything heard already and come back later, thats some complicated stuff! The fact that you must be aware of the target platform you want to work with is already mind-blowing to me, eventhough when thinking about it its just logical. But the amount of knowledge... I want you to know that if youre capeable of that, thats impressive
Awesome stuff 🔥
Is this supposed to be public? Your Patreon lists it as a locked post, but I found it by accident in your Game Hacking playlist. You might wanna remove it from the playlist until it is actually made public
That being said, thank you so much for the work put into these videos :) Easily the most easy-to-follow romhacking resources around, and I love how you teach these concepts in a way that could be applied to other games to
That's ok. Consider yourself a hacker for finding it in the playlist.
For those wondering what this game is (and find nothing on the net looking for "Rowdy Princess" Original name : 暴れん坊プリンセス Identification number : SLPM-65054 Often listed in western auctions (and more known) as Abarenbou Princess Makers of the game : Alpha System
I'll be honest, I don't know much about coding (other than teaching high schoolers basic Python classes occasionally) but you make it really easy to understand. Honestly, I don't know if you have teaching experience or not but you could probably do it well haha
Yep, you really explain things well
This is amazing. The megaman series is one of my favorite all time franchise. I believe, in this 2024 and with the rise of A.I., megaman can make such an amazing comeback.
please translate the 3rd
This stumbled on my feed and thoroughly enjoyed it, straight to the point. Not really interested in making hacks; mostly thought it would be a good way to have a more through understanding of more low-level stuff and programming in general. I do know some C and use Odin to learn more C, and C to learn more Odin type of situation. But I was fumbling around trying to learn text rendering and image compression without libraries; cause I just wanted to do something simple like get the r/g/b/a variables in a union/struct, change it and slam it back in. Couldnt get a straight answer and felt like going lower would answer the unexplained aspects concerning memory, how its laid out and if/how to read and write it(?)
I picked a GOOD week to finally get into Mega Man Legends omg
God bless you, Hilltop
When installing on Linux you can't just unzip and it's ready have to have jdk installed and if it doesn't automatically find it you have to give it's destination and hopefully it works if not gotta find out where and add that and stuff. On Linux little more than just unzip
