Perfect, except for one small issue. How TF do I get the OpenKneeboard window to show up in the DCS cockpit in the first place? I have OpenKneeboard up and running. If I fly a mission, the data is available in OpenKneeboard. I have tried binding the Open command and Hide command in DCS. I have bound them to my keyboard, failed, I have bound them to my Hotas, failed - I have even bound them to Voice Attack, also failed! The OpenKneeboard just refuses to display. If anyone has a setup video, I would be interested to see that one. Thanks.
You sure DCS is running in OpenXR? OpenKneeboard only appears when OpenXR rendering is enabled. If you are running in OpenXR and still do not see it then I've got no other ideas. Try asking the author in the discord: discord.com/invite/xSWYZGgdnK. Good luck!
Hi Sandboxcode, thanks again for the video. I'm using DCS in 2D at the moment as my as vBigscreen Beyond has gone back for some adjustments. I am just trying to get the kneeboard window to come up in DCS on a keypress. According to the instructions, Open Kneeboard is supposed to work in 2D and 3D.

Yeah make sure to read the FAQ there first before asking. They get asked the same questions a LOT. At least 2-3 times daily and the mods are purely volunteer. It also takes a LONG time to help troubleshoot. This is why I try to cover edge cases. Also, try disabling other mods til you get this one working

Hey there. Currently setting up Pacific Drive with my Crystal and a pc like yours. What kind of in game settings did you use, which Pimax Play resolution and how were your frames? I just spent an hour or so messing around with different settings and curious what you found to be best. Cheers.
This was the Steam next fest demo version. I ran it with max settings going from memory. Think I had Pimax resolution set to 1. Are you in the Flat2VR Discord? For the release version, I noticed the community developed plugins. Go here and click on the Discord link on the top if you're not in there already: uevr.io/

Well this sucks my headset settings changed to 72hz during this video. Was wondering why I was capped at 72hz. Just changed it back to 90hz (after making this video)
Since I switched off Almalense and the license ran out, my OpenXR Mirror capture has looked much better. It’s strange as Almalense was causing huge chromatic abaration in the video capture but not in my actual Crystal lenses.
I had tried the same outcome. similar as your setup i have 13900 and 4090 and pimax cystal and OBS studio. I did max out all the setting on DCS and enable DLSS and DFR. my framerate in game during capture is similar as your. just a touch below 90FPS. however i also suffer the same quaility cockpit capture issue. the cockpit recording look like a 720p lower resolution (cant read words off the MCPD) even though DCS system resolution was set 4k and recording from 4K to 4K and my VR view is way better than the recording. i have been trying to understand how to improved that. in my setup OBS was set to capture DCS.exe instead of pimax mirror though.
Good to know its not just me!!! I didnt even notice the quality was so poor til it was too late!! Yeah give Pimax Mirror a go. Tell OBS to record that window instead. Just zoom into the window like 2.1x times in OBS. Lmk if you have any issue. Trying to make better recordings...
If you record DCS with a Window capture you will be capturing the lowest resolution that you set in DFR. Such as 10% of your resolution or whatever you have the outside resolution set to. Almalense will make the capture look worse as well. Not that it matters anymore. You can try putting DLSS on balanced or performance and put the outside resolution to 50% to get a reasonably good capture. But it will never be the clarity of 4K unless the outside resolution is 100%, which would make DFR pointless. The best way to capture in 4K is OpenXR Mirror through OBS so at least the middle of where your eyes are looking is captured in 4K with the built in eye tracking.
@@British_Dragon-Simulations Couldnt get OpenXR Mirror to work with DCS-MT (I got a black screen). So instead I captured the footage from PimaxXR Mirror which seems just as good as far as I can tell. OpenXR-Layer only supports dx11. DCS-MT uses DX12 for multithreaded rendering. OpenXR-layer Mirror works great with MSFS 2020 though. I do think OpenXR Layer prob works with DCS-ST though since that's prob still using dx11. But I'm using DX12-DCS-MT

@@scht-sg It was Jabber that told me this and I tested it after and he was right. I set the outside resolution to 50% and the captured window looked much better.

I have a Direct Drive Wheel Base and Pedals but could I just use my X-Box controller for this, as I don't have the VR controllers as I only purchased the Sim Pimax Crystal? Thanks! I would love to play other games in the Crystal with just the X-Box Controller. DCS is great fun but far from relaxing!
Yeah I used a xbox360 controller during this video myself. I didnt use my motion controllers or my wheel
heads up on something I ran into concerning the JAS39C Gripen, if you get DCS 10c II the Gripen will crash the AC10C II if there is a fix for this please share, DCS is all about their software!

Had same issue! I just discovered VoiceAttack has an option to center the mouse at center of the screen so just bound that.

Yeah the bug has been reported and they are aware. I am anxiously awaiting the fix. It came with 2k textures by default

@@flynnmiller4224 weird, try moving Cockpit1 and Cockpit3 folders from the 4k textures into your CustomMods\F-16I_Sufa\Mods\aircraft\F-16C folder. worked like a charm for me

I can't find this information and it isn't obvious to me at all. Should I simply save the docs into /Saved Games/OpenKneeboard/ ? Hi I tried LVK a while ago but it just consumes too many resources. Frametimes and FPS take a nosedive when the filter is added. Did you try OpenXR Toolkit Over Prediction Reduction? This is much less taxing.
Thanks for following up on my comments. my next question is what on the DCS VR setting and the OpenXR mirror capture crop for Pimax Crytsal? the OpenXR Corp seems to have for older headset however i failed to understand how to crop properly.
Sadly I forgot to cover this step. Inside Davinci Resolve software, I zoom in to the footage. It's basically like you said, we have to manually crop the video. It's annoying. Btw, if you upload some video feel free to ping me! I'd love to watch the fruits of my instruction and give tips

For Steam, it should be <Drive>:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\DCSWorld. Go inside the “F-16I SUFA V3.9.5” folder Copy over the “F-16I Sufa PW-229 Sounds” and “F-16I_Sufa” folders directly to “CustomMods” folder Copy over the “2K Cockpit Textures for V3.9.5” folder. Make sure inside this folder there is a “Mods” folder. Make sure Historical filter is NOT set in the Editor! This will hide the planes
At this present time LVK still works smoothly. It is open source so I dont think this will ever die. Also note- I neglected to mention I have lost footage with "Open XR OBS Mirror"- you will get a black screen if the game doesnt use DirectX 11. Update: 2/13 - I have found that LVK can possibly fill up our Logs and crash with latest OBS 30. For now, I have rolled back to OBS 29.

Never used the G2 but I heard from multiple sources it has nice clarity. Wish they'd keep going with WMR etc. We need more PCVR headsets for all price ranges
What are using to record? My recording of the mirror with the Pimax look like crap.
It is github.com/Jabbah/OpenXR-Layer-OBSMirror. Just make sure to run Powershell as Admin. Then you type in the commands to manually run that install file. Inside OBS, you might have to just zoom in on the image a little but it should work flawlessly. I'll pay attention to Discord so hit me up if you need help
What about the FOV?
It feels like the horizontal FOV is wider then what I've used previously but the vertical FOV is quite a bit taller.
What do y'all think bout the Pimax Crystal? After making this video, I made optimizations recommended by Tally mouse and indeed am seeing a huge FPS boost (MSFS ~70)
