    Love my F2s, way better than my previous longer and more costly fins. And they fit in a standard suitcase, so easy to pack and fly with. But after several years of use, one of my fins came off and was lost. Bought a new pair, but I wanted to see the proper placement of the fin strap and found this video. It showed me that I had the strap too low on my foot. Thanks for the video!

    EXCELLENT instruction!!! I am a new diver and had my first experience with poor assembly of my SMB. As soon as I took my giant stride into the water the spool came unraveled and went reeling to the ocean floor, but not without starting to drift underneath the boat in a moderate current. I attempted a rapid descent to gather the mess up....a huge learning experience. Having the spool properly secured became my number one fixation. THANK YOU for clearly explaining this process.

    Im trying to find a secure way to store my reel and dsmb already set up but im having a hard time around "accidental unclip proof scenario" myself. You mentioned at 3:46 the simple clipping will unclip, and then proceed to show my preferred way by looping it out one of the holes. Then you showed storing it Preassembled and then at 6:05 you clip it the same way as the problem clipping earlier!? You went back to the original problem were it will unclip itself. Because of course this will move around, in my drysuitpocket, pulling in and out etc. Is there any way that is just as secure as stored separate when pre assembled?

    The thumb part of a bolt snap should always be facing your body. I get that it gets difficult on the shoulder, but its a snag hazard. You get used to it. Also, the waist bolt snap should be routed through the crotch strap. The bolt snap should end up hidden by the crotch strap.

  • @bloodymarvelous4790
    @bloodymarvelous4790 Před 6 měsíci

    A good rule of thumb is to have about 1.5x as much line as the depth you're deploying from. Keep in mind that that 30m spool that you bought is only a 15-20m spool after you've cut off enough line to clear the holes. In addition to the preparations shown here, you can use a small piece of heat-shrink tubing for the end of the leader to make it easier to pass the line through the holes in the spool. Keep the double-ended bolt snap with you when you deploy the dSMB. You can use it to wind the line back onto the spool, and clip it off at your stop so you don't risk dropping the spool. If you do drop the spool, you can use the double-ended bolt snap to retrieve it. Clip the double-ended bolt snap to the line, hold the line loosely in your hand below the bolt snap, and then drop the bolt snap. The spool will come back up while the bolt snap sinks. You can then wind the line back on, and eventually the bolt snap will be back in your hand again as well. This time, do clip it off so you won't have to do that again.

    this is awful. After you place the line, wrap TWICE, then start deploying. Also, always carry the double-ender with you; never leave it at the first tie off.

    I have had two, each lasting about 500 dives. I haven't had much experience with other suits but that is because I have been very satisfied with their performance. The seam tape coming off is the only downside but doesn't seem to effect the suit's performance. I am about to buy another wetsuit as my current reactive is literally disintegrating from UV exposure. The price tag is a big hurdle to overcome.

    I've just got my first side mount wing and went for the Stealth Tec 2.0 over the Apeks WSXs. I agree about the slightly odd rubber D-rings. But I was told by XDeep that the little triangular fittings are actually to secure the 'wings' of the BC, so on each side you use a small single-ender on a short bungee from the loop at the point of the wing and hook it direct to that steel fitting. It's an alternative to the traditional way of having the bungee go all the way across your front and through the crotch strap loop. It de-clutters your front a bit and you just leave it clipped so there's one less thing to secure when you put it on.

    Nice clear video. Do you have suggestions on setting up regulator & cylinder for single tank Sidemount?

  • @HKChad
    @HKChad Před 2 lety

    Whats the purple crotch bungee at 9:15 for? Also any reason for not just running your wing bungee's through the crotch strap? Also why are the drop D-Rings so high? Are you not using them, they look almost useless? I saw later in your video's you have the lower tank strap about mid-way on the tank, if you lower the waist strap you can lower those bands and help with floating tails some. Most folks I know run the waist strap around their hips and not the waist. Agreed on the soft D-Rings, tossed those as soon as I saw them on my Tec. Thanks for the video, I like your idea for carrying fins.

    • @timgosling6189
      @timgosling6189 Před 2 lety

      On the Classic the wing goes on after the harness and is only held on by bungee; there are a pair of cords on each side on the corners and another that goes from the bottom and up through the crotch. The upper ones are linked by a boltsnap at the front and at 9:15 you can just see them between the weight belt and inflator. The bottom pair linked with the bottom bungee are what you commented on. Agree that the waist strap looks like it would work better about 4 inches lower down.
