I love this series so much

people love to get on your case for slight mispronunciations but this is one of the few places in English that correctly notes Kyonshiizu 2 as being based on Hello Dracula as opposed to Mr Vampire (which it is mistakenly referenced as almost everywhere else, including the unofficial guide). benefits of being a cult movie fan paying off i suppose! love the series, think this is something silly like my 4th rewatch of the entire run at this point. keep up the amazing work!

Never heard anyone not praise Crystalis, nice to hear different thoughts on games that seem to be universally loved by the retro community, as long as its an authentic opinion I'm all for it.

Honestly I think that Tetris style shooter is kind of a cool idea, I dont know if it's actually fun to play but its an interesting idea.

I will say the fisher price firehouse rescue or fireman game was a big hit recently in my family with a couple of 3 year olds, it kept their attention for almost 20 minutes, which in toddler time is an eternity, so I'm giving it a pass. The Mickey mouse in number land/letter land were also effective.

It's ironic that only experienced prog fans can easily recognize this as satire. It's too subtle otherwise as some of the albums are great albums. This was amusing, a lot of clever moments. Well done, man.

I'm dreading it, I'm almost caught up. When I first found this series a few weeks ago I thought WOW! 64 episodes, that will take me months to watch lol Now I'll have to wait months in between releases like the rest of you, but then I remembered I can just start over from the beginning of the series!

I'm so confused regarding the dislike of Willow the movie. Willow and Hook have always surprised me how many think of these movies as mediocre to just plain bad and I objectively can't see what they are talking about. If you want to say it's not for you or the acting is not great, fine, that's fair, but objectively they are not directed, written, edited in a way that could be viewed as average or bad.

I love how theres always one or two with every game, 99.7% of people all agree a certain game is way too difficult, then one guy says how its not that hard, its my favorite game. If you make a game that 99% of people who play it will never be able to beat it then I cant call it a good game, it can be well made, well animated, cool looking, great music etc ... But let's remember these games were made for 4-12 year olds lol not 35 year olds using save states and walkthroughs or speed runners who practically play hard games for a living. Even if 10-20% of people are able to beat your game you've failed in my opinion. I love that some designers from the 8/16 bit era have come forward admitting they made some of their games way to difficult, there's a reason mario and sonic dominated this era, because the majority of kids could work hard, have fun and actually beat the game. I really liked the Frankenstein sprite in Captain silver, I enjoyed the master system version except the North American version is only 3-4 levels and many bosses are missing.

Its so fascinating what different people find difficult in gaming. Ive beaten Castlevania and Battle of Olympus, but I struggle with duck tales and chip and Dale rescue rangers lol games I'm told you should beat on your first try. I also really struggle with RPGs, I try very hard to get into them but inevitably whether its Chrono trigger or final fantasy I get a few hours into the story, reach a boss that I can't seem to beat no matter what tactics or attacks I use. Im told RPGs are super easy games because they dont require quick movements. I think its cool we all have different strengths and weaknesses. Battle of Olympus in my opinion is an awesome game with great music, good sprites and very rewarding combat once you get the timing down, similar to Castlevania and Zelda 2, but Dr S here which I know is good at games considering what hes beaten on this series struggled with it. Anyways, love the series, love hearing a different opinion on classic games, have a great day everyone.

Its strange throughout this series seeing all these bad games from sunsoft and Dr. S begging them for better effort when as an American all I know sunsoft for are some of the best NES games. Honestly I'd put Sunsoft as my 3rd favorite developer on the NES behind Konami and Capcom.

Most of these games would have blown me away when I was a kid while I was playing Mario Bros and Tetris. I don't recall much from the 80's as my first gaming memories were the early 90's with the NES, most of my friends and I didn't realize games that looked this good could be played at home.

Im always fascinated by pronunciation, from my experience if you are in North America you are highly likely to pronounce Galaga as Ga-laa-guh. If you are in Europe or mostly GB you are more likely to pronounce it G-lager, like having a pint of lager. Im super curious how the Japanese company that made it would pronounce it? Anyways, really enjoying this series.

It's been many a year, but with the MacVenture games like DejaVu, I seem to recall that you can press select to jump the cursor between the different interface components. Then just use the dpad to jump between the hotspots inside that section. So, Open (select) Item (select, select) Move, instead of open then draaaaaaging the cursor to the inventory section.....

One thing that was barely mentioned in your Double Dribble review is the notoriously hilarious National Anthem that is present in the arcade version. This one is just grammy worthy

58:31 I am the so called hardcore Kinnikuman fan, to put it shortly, the story of this game is based on the final story arc of the manga at the time (until 2011), the muscle prophecy is a book in the series which, among other things, basically has all of the alien wrestlers (coujin)'s lore written into them, and you could alter history if you vandalize the book, and it can also predict the future. It had great importance in the last story arc, which this game is based on.

In blazing lazers there is a secret weapon, you have to dump all of your bombs, not collect any bombs, and collect 36 power ups without losing a ship. Then a special power up in the form of a ship will come down and give you the 8 way Vulcan shot. You have to have and keep weapons 1 or 2 throughout this challenge to get it and if you change weapons to anything else you will lose it. Also you can select the difficulty with a cheat code that’s given to you at the end of the credits when you beat the game. Have fun!

I forgot if you came back to fully review Takeshi's Challenge or not, but in this footage, you picked the wrong song to progress, and you don't have to sing the song for a hour, you need to "sing" it perfectly three times... which could kinda take an hour... the actual "for a hour part for the newer viewers, is a map that they give you which you need to either dip in water for a whole hour, or keep in the sun for 20 minutes, but press the button exactly, or your game gets fucked. EDIT: There is also no final boss in this game technically. But you can go straight to the ending screen if you punch 20,000 times in the title screen.

Oh boy... this is the episode where all the titular shitty games start officially marching in... I know that eventually you were told how to progress in Hokuto No Ken 1, but it really baffles me how they designed it that you'd have to input a very specific combination on an exact pixel to progress the game. NO common gamer would know that's what you had to do. That's why most people were in your situation where they thought the level 1 loop was all that the game had to offer, which sucks...

Decided to rewatch everything entirely for multiple purposes. This is still my favorite CZcams series and Dr. Sparkle is still my favorite content creator! The journey begins anew!!

I think "Puck" would be a sensible Romanization of "pakku," the uh sound is generally written as a short A in Japanese.

Japanese version of "The Legend of Hell House" from the 1970's'. Guess I still give it credit for inspiring one the best zombie franchises in gaming history.

2 player Dr Mario is fun. You go for combos that eliminate multiple groups of pills/viruses to drop extra pills on your opponent’s side and slow them down. I still play this game with my significant other!
