The way they portrayed Juggernaut had me convinced that 2 was a good movie but, looking back, 2 was meh. Was cool seeing weapon x wolverine, too. For that brief moment.

Ahh, this one gets a bad rap. There's so much good character stuff here I never gave a whit if the effects were bad. I mean, it was the 70s,we really shouldn't expect CGI . Great scenes between Blake and Avon, and the entire premise of the show was thought provoking. It deserves more love! And SLD is a classic, introducing Servalan and Travis. This is peak Servalan for me, before she became basically a cartoon in S4.

Hey Doug, big fan of yours from PCB. Just saw that you had been reviewing this and I'll be going back and following your posts. One of my favorite series of all time! Avon gets all the press but ALL the characters are pretty awesome and well played, IMO. The complicated dynamic between Blake and Avon is what really brought me back to this again and again. Will be posting more I am sure!

There is no way in today's world they could redo Blake's Seven 7, this is a very Dark universe where there are no good guys. Just look at what Avon did in Stardrive, we had to survive, oh, someone's dead, at least it's not one of us.

One good episode, one bad one, lets start with the bad.... 🤔 Robert Holmes was tasked with writing duties for a B7 episode, so naturally he wrote a wordy love letter to the days of India in the time of the Raj and under the control of the British Empire, ie colonialism..... He was so enamoured with all this it's too bad he forgot to include the B7 gang.... in a B7 episode. Also he dropped Dr Strangelove in there as well for good measure..... 😫 Now for the good one. Punks were a thing in the 80's, in the UK at least so here we have Space Punks. Do they work? No, but it was the 80's and this series had already taken a camp turn back in series 2 with the Clone Masters boss and Gambit, possibly the campiest episode of anything ever made.... 😳 But the episode works although having gone through all this to space up their ship it will in fact never be used outside of this episode..... 😩 Also to note, The Stardrive wasn't going to kill anyone, it only did so here because Avon activated it the second Dr Plaxton finished connecting it, to avoid the 3 Fed ships that had already fired on them. As he said himself she was dead either way so why the crew was mad at him is anyone's guess, his logic was flawless..... 😇

An all time great show. I got to watch it over and over again thanks to late night network tv. I think the thing that would be most alien to viewers today would be the concept of an investigative reporter. He didn't get his stories handed to him in official media briefings. It is every bit as good as any detective show of the era. And that's an era that had great detective shows. The one odd thing about the show is he confronts the monster at the end. By nature he is a meddler, but you would almost think he would be too smart for heroics.

We'll have to wait to see what shakes loose. Doesn't Skydance kind-a suck? They could even keep Kurtzman on. He's been hailed as a genius by all the idiots in the media, despite having been given a sure thing he is the reason TWO streaming services have crashed and burned.

I had Underdog, Bewitched, and Gillian’s Island after school as a little kid in 70s. My parents let me watch Night Stalker at night! I loved it. Much better than scary Kojak with all the heroin junkies and hoookers. Had nightmares from both shows. What were my parents thinking letting us watch any of this mess, hahaha?!

wait i just watched the episode didn't David erase her memory to make her forget she wanted to kill him , how is that a violation when she literally killed him twice and she was like ok , knowing she's the 1 that gave him the message from the future and was mad at him for sleeping with her from the future knowing David wouldn't think it's an issue coz its her and coz she has been lonely . Which is also taking advantage of him there's so many things she done to violate and manipulate him but she only remembers the 1 time he doesn't to her which he technically wasn't knowing the context of what he was trying to do. Not only that but Farouk was manipulating her to kill David which she fell for which is much worse than anything David done to her. David didn't wipe her memory to sleep with her he did it so he can cherish the last good memories until she wants kill him again. They even look for David while he's just living his life getting high which does not need no military force coz he's hurting nobody and no 1 is forced to live with him he just gives them joy and pleasure . By that being known the question is was Sydney and the crew really ever trying to help David no

The Third Doc and Six Episodes.... Name a more iconic duo...... 😆😆 At least we are spared Master Who for once and we get off Earth, for once, but none of that helps this story which is a duffer...... 😫 Most of the Third Docs run was really just a treatise for the UK joining the EEC Common Market or the Miners Strikes of the 70's.... 😆

What a mess!!! Even the diehards online are struggling to defend this one. Was expecting an RTD final and instead we got a Moffat one. Three people in a room, talking, fairy tale magic that lets memories become real and of course everyone lives, even the one guy who worked for Unit and checked out last week... Naturally this being RTD he was more interested in the soap opera than the Sci/Fi hence over half the episode is bafta award winning soap!!! In a inverse/meta commentary of Rose/Amy/Clara being the most important etc, etc, Ruby is... just some girl... Ok..... No Daleks, what!!! Gotta be Christmas now or they are done, old TN made sure of that, or at least his offspring did. More lore breaking nonsense like Sutekh being on the Tardis since Mars, sure, whatever, the TC doesn't seem so bad now eh? By any metric this was a disaster unseen since the McCoy days with ratings to boot... Oh and as for new starts and jumping on points with Series 1 ( for the third time at this point... ) again, lets link all this to stories from 60 years ago and 40 years ago, it makes perfect sense..... If the Doc has had billions of years to check in on Susan, and he didn't bother, there's not much point now, also he is a God from another universe at this point, she has nothing to do with him anymore, plus she died in the Time War/starved to death on a ruined Earth/regenerated... possibly into a man..../became the overbearing fourth wall breaking mother that dresses like Romana at the end... 🙄🙄 That farting music is getting a good run out these days.... 😆😆 We both should have stuck to our guns and passed on all this, it's done, no coming back.

This Dr Who story was a favourite of Colin Bakers, and having actress Jackie Pearce from Blakes Seven as the arch-enemy and recurring arch-villain Servalan was awesome in billions of ways.

Thunder Agents comics ended with issue # 20 in 1969. Wally Wood who was the genius behind Tower took his life shortly thereafter in 1981. His battle with booze led to kidney problems, a stroke and loss of vision in one eye. One of the best unsung artist. Very similar to Jack Kirby who was not recognized until after his death.

The problem with Treks endless parade ground of God like beings is they never use their power in the way they should. Rather than get a bunch of Picards crew killed old Q here could have just wiped the Borg, yes all of them, from the universe. His failure to do so, makes him the bad guy, in the same way The Doc's inaction against the Daleks at their birth makes him equally culpable. Ditto Picard himself who will later have the same power to get rid of them all, but would rather keep that moral compass of his intact, no matter how many trillions have to die for him to sleep at night. Writers never see this though and continue to keep the so called heroes of these things as heroes..... 🤔🤔🤔

Good point, I agree. It's entertaining for what it is, as long as you don't think of it as part of the original series (which is odd, usually you want a spinoff to build on an earlier successful series, but this is building in spite of the failed series that created it.)

Series 4 kicks off with a literal rip off of The Picture of Dorian Grey, right down to the name.... 🤔 Still, it's impressive that given the show ended at Terminal with the destruction of the Liberator and Cally was playing up and wouldn't sign on for another series or even do one episode, that the writers ever found a way around all that to begin with. Avon hams things up from here on in of course as he is given far too much leeway by the production team, who largely just wanted to go down the pub and let him get on with it. And yet.... the show renews itself with a new ship, new crew member and new computer, we also add in a base and a semi regular quest, ie to fight the Federation once again after ambling around space in series 3 ( the best series.... ) Most fans hate series 4... When in fact it's the second best series after 3 though. Some stinkers are coming up however, Animals and Traitor spring to mind and the dire although overpraised Sand, but the pluses would be Headhunter, Games and Assassin.... and indeed these two episodes right here..... 😇
