    Starting around 0:16 the key lock system is an ill-conceived, stupid, cantankerous design that will have you swearing like a sailor no matter how many times you use it. It never gets easier. The (edited) video makes it look easy, it's not. If your trap is full of droppings and fragments of poison and you want to open it without getting mess and poison everywhere, forget about it! I tried to push down even harder on the key because it wasn't working, my hand slipped off the key, the back of my thumb went full-strength down the side of the box, with the cuticle of my thumbnail catching on the end of lip of the box and peeling back probably 3mm. Blood everywhere, and doesn't exactly tickle either. So that's great, I also had an open wound inches away from poison I was handling. I think it would be better to drill out the locks and just use some Philips head screws to keep this thing closed. EDIT - I just read the comments complaining about the same thing and I feel a little better. I am irritable today and this thing just sent me over the edge, I was hairs breadth from just stomping the whole thing flat with my boots

    What filter do I need if I weld, grind, 3d print with resin, air brush, and spray paint?

    • @gemplers
      @gemplers Před 2 měsíci

      Most surface prep and paint spray applications will require Organic Vapor cartridges and prefilters. If your paint does not contain lead, then either an N95 or P100 prefilter would suffice. If your paint contains oil, then you’d need to stick with a P100 prefilter. NOTE: if your paint contains isocyanates (common in auto shops) your only option would be to use supplied air. Cartridges and filters would not work.

    Whoa!!! Looks almost identical to my RL Flo-pro backpack piston pump sprayer (model 614RL). But my search looks like RL Flo-master or Flo-pro is manufactured by Hudson. Hudson may or may not be same company as Root-Lowell Manufacturing co. or Solo. Or Solo had Hudson make the sprayer for them????? Anybody know if they are all the same company?

    I have followed your video instructions very carefully. However, when I get to removing the tank with a block and hammer, it will not come out. It appears that while hard to see, the bottom portion of the pressure tank inside the sprayer tank may be larger than the hole through which it is supposed to be removed. I have a complete pressure tank/piston pump ordered and on the way. I do not want to break the body of the tank. Can you please offer a suggestion? Do I need to cut the old out, and then will the new fit? The pressure tank piston assembly is supposed to be an exact fit for my Solo 425. Thank you.

    I got it! How to open this infernal thing (BAD TOMCAT!) Based on the MajBuni comment...here is the easy way - get a flathead screwdriver (probably a butter knife would work too). Squeeze it into the crack in the middle of the side with the 2 locks. Get it far enough in there so it will 'stay' a moment. THEN use the stupid key to open both of the locks. That 'space' made by the screwdriver lets the stupid locks actually unlock. Then put the key on a string or something and hang it somewhere you will always be able to find it!

    Would pickling acids be considered acid gases that I would have to wear a mask for? Still new and learning and want to get the right stuff needed. I asked the 3M lady and she said for soldering silver and gold, melting metals etc.. I would needs the 3M 60921, but I forgot to ask her about when pickling? Will this mask cover that as well? Or do I need another mask for pickling?

    I have the Tomcat Rodent station- black almost square about 8x9 inches and it came with that ridiculous key- I quickly found that the easiest way to open the box was to insert the tip of a medium-sized flat-blade or common screwdriver into the crack between the top and bottom parts of the box near where the key goes in and twist screwdriver, forcing the opening wider until you can push the screwdriver in farther to keep the box from going closed again, then repeat the process under the other 'key hole" (or if you only have one screwdriver of that size, put some other object in the opening to keep it open- any sturdy item of similar size and shape will work- even the back end off the nearly useless 'key'). With the one side propped open and a screwdriver ready to twist in the other, you can pry the box lid up without hurting it- at least I can on mine- then fill the station by putting bait bars on the posts and snap the lid back shut and it goes back to staying shut. You could even use something like a Dremmel or a hand file to make a spot for the screwdriver to fit if the crack between top and bottom is tight, but I had no trouble with mine and did not modify it at all. I just wish it had a place where you could easily see where the bait bars sit to tell when they have been eaten- some brands have a clear plastic section strategically places for this. I may drill a good-sized hole place near each bar and get a piece of clear plastic to fasten over it- or consider just leaving it open. I sure do not want to have to open the box just to see how much bait has been taken and find there is plenty left, and I also do not want the box sitting empty while rats run around the yard at night. And btw, the rats can most certainly turn around inside or back up to get out of all the bait stations I have, including homemade ones-, and they are all set up so it is hard for a rodent to take a whole bait out, or a good-sized piece of one. You'd be surprised what the nasty things can get through to get into places, so they can certainly fit to get out. Keep alert and check the areas to find the dead ones and get rid of them as soon as possible to prevent smells and other predators trying to eat them. I have never had a cat or dog that wanted to do more than kill them, but my dogs and cats probably never knew a hungry day in their lives and only caught the rats for the fun of it or keeping them off their territory. Wild animals or birds would be another story, and I certainly do not want to harm them due to a poisoned rat, nor do I want flies after them and using them as a place to lay eggs.
