Best Practices for Soccer Players Foot and Ankle Health
To Request an appointment with Dr. Schneider: referdrschneider.com
Are you a soccer player looking to keep your feet and ankles in top shape? In this video, we cover the essential practices you need to follow to maintain optimal foot and ankle health for soccer. Healthy feet and ankles are crucial for your performance on the field, as they support your balance, stability, and agility during play.
We begin by discussing why foot and ankle health is so important for soccer players. Your feet and ankles endure constant stress from running, cutting, and striking the ball. Without proper care, you risk injuries like ankle sprains and plantar fasciitis, which can sideline you for weeks or even months.
Learn how choosing the right soccer cleats can make a significant difference. We explain the importance of selecting cleats suited for different playing surfaces, such as firm ground, artificial turf, and soft ground. Discover how the right fit, support, and material of your cleats can enhance your performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Effective warm-ups and cool-downs are also crucial. We provide tips on incorporating dynamic stretches to prepare your feet and ankles for the game, and emphasize the importance of cooling down to maintain flexibility and aid recovery.
Additionally, our video covers common soccer injuries like sprains, fractures, and tendinitis. We provide practical advice on managing these injuries with the R.I.C.E. method and highlight the importance of seeking medical advice when necessary.
To keep blisters and calluses at bay, we offer strategies for choosing well-fitting footwear, using moisture-wicking socks, and treating existing blisters properly.
By following these best practices, you’ll not only enhance your performance but also protect your foot and ankle health, allowing you to enjoy soccer for years to come.

    I had SWELLING edema for long time, over a decade, maybe longer. Tried many treatments including those tormenting pressure socks which just transfer swelling. Doctors did know cause. For a recent infection, was prescribed doxycycline. Edema went away quickly. Edema has never returned. You would be amiss not to try it if you don't know cause of your swelling.

    • @DrAndrewSchneider
      @DrAndrewSchneider Před 14 dny

      Certainly don’t need to insist on surgery, especially if it’s not displaced. Do, however, get it checked by a podiatrist or foot and ankle orthopedist. Emergency department sometimes aren’t the best source of these decisions. Hope you heal quickly!

    I use a pumice stone as you suggested after every shower I also soak my feet in warm distilled white vinegar this pulls out any infection and it also softens the toenails so when I go to my podiatrist and Eclipse my toenails they are soft the warm distilled white vinegar also allows my toenails to be flexible so I can pull out the ingrown part by twisting with needle nose pliers I also recommend using t r i a m c i n o l o n e a c e t o n i d e cream 0.025% after the stone and the foot soak this relieves pain and makes the skin soft

    I've got a sort of pad of tissue that's come on over this last year on top of my foot at the base of 2nd/3rd toes. Is that a neuroma? It's not at all painful. I've started using toe stretchers to see if it's just a build up of tissue around there. Will that work?

    • @DrAndrewSchneider
      @DrAndrewSchneider Před 14 dny

      It’s not a neuroma. A neuroma is internal. This sounds like something external. Toe stretchers may help. Try using hydrocortisone cream on it and see if it helps. If not, visit a podiatrist.

    • @Ladynipchick2
      @Ladynipchick2 Před 14 dny

      @@DrAndrewSchneider How very kind of you to reply so quickly. I actually saw a podiatrist several years ago for it, so have had it longer than I originally told you. Steroid injections were given. However they didn't do much. I'm doing toe stretchers regularly now, and will try a little steroid cream with that. Will 1% be sufficient? I did dancing on and off, constantly up on my toes (not Pointe) and still enjoy doing that, but sometimes wonder if it makes it worse!

    • @DrAndrewSchneider
      @DrAndrewSchneider Před 14 dny

    If uric acid crystalizes when temperatures are cooler why would you put an ice pack on it? Wouldn't it be better to soak it in warm water to break up the crystallization?

    • @DrAndrewSchneider
      @DrAndrewSchneider Před 14 dny

      That’s a great question! It’s the difference between an acute inflammation and chronic gout condition. Ice is used for the acute flare up. Soaking in warm water at that point won’t break up the crystals. It’ll dilate the blood vessels, increase the blood flow, which will increase the level of inflammation. When there’s no acute inflammatory gout flare, I don’t recommend using ice.
