    That looks a whole lot "fresher" than my KFC... I built that model back in 1985. Back then, as another commenter said, the roof came already painted, and so did the windows. It also had the Colonel Sanders figure that went on top...which has snapped off and had to be re-glued numerous times over the years. I also put lights inside, and as with most of my buildings, I didn't glue the roof on, just to get access to the interior.

    Very cool building something old school like this, the way our dads and grandfathers did it! I just came upon your channel (and subbed!) and have not looked over all of your videos yet, but I recommend a Fine Scale Miniatures build or two if you have not already.

  • @krisblackmarr7438
    @krisblackmarr7438 Před 11 měsíci

    Interesting approach to the build. I know this is an older video, but for any who may view later. 1) I suspect that the reason the double sided tape was so 'attached' had to do with the length of time the castings were attached to the tape. Anything over a few days with the tapes (unless tape is low tack) one will usually find that the attached castings are a bit more difficult to remove. This issue may also have been due to the paint curing. The acrylic paint forms a 'plastic' skin which may further acted like a glue. As I watch this series, I'd like to note that your modeling is very good. I would like to suggest that the easiest way to make a large improvement in the model is to invest in some form of optical magnifying device. You will find that your model skills will improve and your eyes will for sure thank you. This comes from one who has been modeling for over 50 years. Again, enjoying the build of this classic kit, so I'm off to watch the next installment.

    Man, talk about being late to the party! I have built a bunch of these old "die cut outline" kits. Drilling holes in the door and window corners reduces, but not eliminate the breakage of parts. I see that it has been three years since you last posted. Hope you are doing okay.

  • @nineoneten
    @nineoneten Před rokem

    Attaching the metal parts of the JL kits to a peice of card stops the heaviest parts of the kits from moving about in the box and possibly damaging other more fragile parts...a neat idea.

    Nice job, Nate. I just stumbled upon and subbed to your channel (why does CZcams hide all the good ones), and enjoy watching you work after seeing a few. I hope you're still putting some out. And that's a nice village your son is piecing together, there.

    I built it too and am very happy with it ... but I needed to visit Hobby Lobby to supplement the wood needed. Also, I added over 100 Tichy train group nut bolt washers and the coal chute and chain. It was a good intro into these kind of kits. It gave a lot of confidence and it was fun!

    These are challenging kits. I began building them in the 70’s as a teenager, much older now…but I credit these kits for developing my skills to the point where I do mostly scratch building now.

    Looks good, good job. The details make it look realistic. It's true the IHC models have less detail than the Faller, but they are about 1/3 the cost. I use a small train transformer to run the IHC motors. Hook it up to the train DC side and you can control the speed, One thing though those motors are junk, they won't last a long time. Thanks for the videos. Also, did you lose weight?
