Impacted 3rd Molar Crowding and Damage
I hope i can get a reply. I recently had four premolar extraction done from each side cause of impacted canines i had no space for my canine. So i was wondering if my extraction sites would be filled by my nearby teeths i.e canine when they pull them back. Will i still suffer from bone loss. Can i plz get a reply. I am worried cause I don't want sunken face, nor do I wanna look older. I am only 19 right now 😭🥺🥺.
I’m 27 and I had to have my 2 molars removed. Will my face sink in? It was cracked down the middle. I had the other molar removed back when I was like 17. And just had to have the other one removed about two weeks ago.
So I’m missing two bottom back molars, same side. *not including my wisdom tooth*
@@Bb-ts6eu You will loose the most bone within the first year, then the bone loss continues but at a much slower rate. Talk to your Dentist about getting dental implants.
I had braces and two lower teeth removed with jaw surgery. In the year leading up to the jaw surgery, I saw that my face really aged :( they said they made the jaw smaller and after the surgery I would look much better than before, but I believe the whole procedure aged me many years overall even though I have a better profile. I was 38 at the time and have jowls that I never had. Have you heard of this?
Hi, I've just had all four pre molars extracted for orthodontic treatment, will I suffer any facial change or facial sinkage, I was a bit apprehensive about having healthy teeth removed but was told it was necessary.
No, the Orthodontist will be moving teeth to close the spaces from the extracted pre-molars.
I broke a tooth and didn't extract it yet my gum is closing over it I'm scared to remove it hurts? pls someone tell me. it's lower jaw back tooth
Best advice would be to see your dentist ASAP.
Hey Dr i had my second lower molar on the left removed cause i had failed root canal....if i put dental bridges will that help?cause implants are very costly here
No, bridges only "bridge" over the missing tooth. The bridge does nothing to stimulate the bone.
@@MichaelNugentDDS doctor I'm currently not financially stable so how long can I delay the process of implant without any changes to occur
@@shehzanraza8153 best to to it as quickly as possible, the bone loss just keeps going.

How depressing
“Every tooth in a man’s head is more valuable than a diamond.” ~Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote, 1605
Why many dentists don't do tthis n why they don't preserve the teeth socket after take out teeth
Some dentists don't have the training of supplies to do this. Sometimes the patients don't want to pay for the grafting.
nice
Can implants help reverse this?
Implants halt bone loss. They can not reverse bone loss.
Omg

Does this happen when my wisdom tooth gets extracted?
No.
@@MichaelNugentDDS so when does this happen
@@EnSabahNur-ir5mw Bone loss happens when a tooth is extracted. The jawbone's purpose is to hold teeth. When teeth are gone the bone resorbs.
@@MichaelNugentDDS thank you so much sir. I have one more question please help me. my second last molar has totally destroyed, I want to remove it, but I don't have the money for implants, can i fill the gap by having two crowned bridge or three crowned bridge. In such a case can bone loss also occur or not. Can I prevent bone loss though this method?
@@EnSabahNur-ir5mw A bridge does nothing to preserve the jaw bone. The bridge only "bridges" over the missing tooth. A dental implant is the only way to preserve bone. When a patient has a dental implant and eats. The forces of chewing are transmitted down the teeth and dental implant. This signals the bone to be healthy and robust.
Исранщп💗
Does this apply to wisdom teeth extraction?
No, because of the wisdom teeth's position in the far rearward position, you don't get atrophy of the bone that causes problems.
@@MichaelNugentDDSwhat about the second molar?
I had a similar tooth extraction four years ago, but when my beard grew, I noticed that it was growing because of the tooth extraction, and I forgot to put a new tooth there. Now the extracted tooth is leaning like this. Can you make any difference to my face and teeth?
Hey... That's my Dad!
So when tooth removed only alveolar bone affected? In some videos both alveolar and basal bone affected but other videos just like this vid just alveolar bone affected?
All bone is affected. These informational videos simplify the processes for education purposes. Patients don't know the difference between Alveolar and Basal/Cortical bone. All bone starts to atrophy around the tooth extraction site.
That’s my grandpa!! ❤❤
Someone help me
wtf
My third molar upper position there is cavity 😭 This picture make me affraid to extraction my third molar 😭 please help me doctor 😭
What’s the time frame and resorption rate like after a tooth is extracted?
It varies. The most bone loss occurs in the first year. Then bone loss slows down but continues forever.
@@MichaelNugentDDS Thanks for clarifying, Dr Michael!
@@MichaelNugentDDS is it dangerous? The vintage forever bone loss because I have a really big hole
@@irvinedivine4173 For patients with bone defects, other bone grafting options are available.
Why you lie about bone loss there is no bone loss for money 💰🤣🤣🤣
Every dentist in the world would disagree with you. But Ok. Hope you have a great day. Brush and floss so you don't lose any teeth.
Hi Dr. Nugent, is facial collapse caused from both top and bottom bone/tooth loss or just bottom. Also, can facial collapse be reversed with all on 4 implants? I like your video content! Thank you! 😊@@MichaelNugentDDS
@@Itsgettingcrazy. Bone loss will happen everywhere a tooth is lost. The jawbone's only job it to hold teeth. When a tooth/teeth are lost the bone starts to go away. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that stimulates and preserves bone loss.
How long do dental implant last?
They can last forever. But there can be complications. But overall, dental implants are one of the longest lasting restorations in dentistry. I've done implants on my Parents, in-laws and wife.
Thanks for this video Doc.
One of my teeth have not grown in ever since my baby tooth was extracted: upper second premolar. I’ve gotten braces to open up a space for a future implant, but it’s been 6 since it’s been missing. How much would this affect my face? If I get an implant, would it reverse some of the bone loss?
If you didn't notice changes in your face after the extraction then you probably won't have to worry about the cosmetic side of the issue. A implant can stop or help to stop jawbone deterioration
@@floydcage2494 my face is really asymmetric because i chewed on one side only
@@josephchoi8622 if thats the case then I think mewing can fix that, but if the side of your face with the missing tooth look "sunken in" or very thin compared to the other side of your face then that change happened due to the bone loss which dental implants can reverse as it helps to restore the true shape of your face
After wisdom tooth extraction can there also we expect some facial changes or not ?
Not with widom teeth.
Can he bg FF SB CA wrh no CD
Me who just have 2 extra teeth so just moved them will be fine right? Using brace
this is so fucked up holy shit
Do you offer payment plans?
They don't do this naturally without you asking, if you have a tooth removed by government dental clinic, they'll doom you for a future implant.
Hi Dr. Nugent! I just wanted to say thanks for making such a helpful video resource that I can show my patients! Have a great day :) Holly Verran RDH
Awesome. Patient education is vital.
Yesterday I got my two top pre molars extracted for space of braces and I can’t eat and haven’t ate since yesterday and it feels so ugly that I have not one but TWO teeth pulled out
Does your dental office do free consultation? No insurance?
god i wish i had money for these procedures. i had extracted my molar 2 years ago and i can feel their sockets are empty and thin now. the opposite molar above it started going down. freaks me out.
What is the name of the product that is being packed in to the opening?
I have white inside the extraction is that suppose to be there? Or is that food it’s been 10 days only.
Is bone grafting covered by any insurance?
It all depends on what policy you or your employer purchased. If you have a better more expensive plan than probably it pays for bone grafting. But if you have a lower tier policy than probably not. Check you specific policy to see the limitations.
@@MichaelNugentDDS What finance companies will pay? Carecredit is with Synch. What credit scores?
@@W81Researcher Care Credit and other Finance companies are WAY different than insurance. Patients apply to companies like Care Credit for financing. The finance companies have their specific criteria for approval.
It should be.
I have some question... why doesn't the bone get smaller where wisdom teeth where pulled? As I look in my mouth I had 2 child teeth that didn't have the second tooth underneath. So there the bone is gotten smaller. But I also have my wisdom teeth removed and I see there the bone is still normal. How come? Sorry for my curiousity
Have you found out? Share with your conclusions please.

My wisdom teeth removal has bone loss ): I really regret it. It made my outer appearance look sunken as well.
but dentist likes to rip off installing implants. why so expensive
I encourage you to find a dentist that you trust. Dental implants are a complex surgery.
@@MichaelNugentDDS ok thank you
i wish i could get help from this place i live in deer park too, what does someone do with no insurance, its only my top row and 2 on left 2 on right. id give my right arm to have it done.
Have you called my office to set up a new patient exam? About 40% of my patients don't have any dental insurance. Dental insurance is not like medical or car insurance. Most insurances only pay out 1,000 to 1,500 a year but have tons of limitations on what they will and will not pay. We accept Care Credit patient financing. Also, you can try the Dental School in Houston.
@@MichaelNugentDDS Thanks so much for getting back to me! I did not know there were that many stipulations to the insurance payouts on dental procedures like this. I will have to call next week if that's okay. It would change my life if i could get this finally taken care of, not just the pain, but the constant awareness of how bad it looks to me and feels..
@@MichaelNugentDDS this would change my life, in a way that i could not even explain to you in words so there is no way i could even attempt to try and write a heart felt message out to you, but i need help so bad Mr. Nugent. The cause was from metal braces i can tell you that i was turned away one day because i did not have 200 dollar payment and i was left as a teenager with metal for til i was almost 20 and luckily the bottom row popped out early on or i would be in a worse situation.
After how much time the bone starts to degrade?? Please tell..
Have you found out? Please reply I'm worried.
Within first year or two and then slows down, but they say will continue rest of life.
The most rapid bone loss occurs in the first year. The bone loss continues forever. However, the rate of bone loss varies between patients.
Can you please fix my 3 front teeth. It's killing my heart Can't you do something without money on the table and put it on my account credit. I can't take it anymore. Braces ruined my life
My teeth are really i may need multiple of those I have no insurance do you have some payment plan?
good video juste i Wonder how Bone loss it occurs After extraction . what mechanism envolved ?
When I was young, my dad told me if you get a bad tooth, pay whatever money you have to pay to get it fixed correctly, instead of going the cheap route and yanking the tooth out. I now see why he was right.
