Hi Adam. Hope you are well. I recently bought the same camera almost as new condition, only used twice. However the tape deck mechanism is broken. Do you know where I can find a private repair man person, who'd be able to fix the cassette deck or perhaps install a new one? I took it to a repair shop and the quote that I got was gigantic, £ 570. I feel pity to sell it as broken of for parts. Any ideas?

I live love love not having to scroll through menus for manual adjustments Also at 7:40 there actually is a secret port for that jack, its a plastic flap that you can open by unscrewing one screw next to the battery compartment The screw is right below the p menu

Thank you for this - my X220 had exactly the same issue. The screen was coming up black from start up but it could be coaxed in to life if you gently opened and closed the screen (not all the way) - eventually it would come on. Having watched your video - removed the same board and the problem has disappeared. Thank you for posting

Be carefull you buy the ones made in Japan , and not the fake made from China. These Japanese made are excellent Mics , I use them with several Sony/Panasonics and Canon video cameras for many years now.

There is a connector for that power supply.. It's behind a little plastic removable plate. It won't power the camera for normal use though... It is used (I think..) for maintenance work..

Great video. I could not see an answer below unfortunately to import a shed load of DV & HDV video tapes from canon and sony camcorders. What is going on with windows 11 and 12th gen cpu's with my brand new video editing PC im now told does not support AVI DV capture to the PC with my new PE-107 Lycom dual ports IE1394 400/800 firewire card. In short im told it is an issue with 12th gen CPU'S but sede no explanations why ?. Its windows 11 not supporting it. ? Its my Lycom foirewire card thjat has a TI chipset not a VIA chipset ?. Go the thunderbird route with a firewire adaptor cable but ruled out again due to 12th gen cpu issues concerning specifically avi capture. Pinnacle Ultimate 23 editing software which is relatively new version does not support AVI capture. Ive been told get a windows 10 PC. etc. So far ive wasted a lot of money and gotr nowhere. So without a definitive answer to above do not want to buy a legacy VIA CHIP FIREWIRE CARD OR A THUNDERBOLT CARD ETC While there no point trying to use WIN DV for hi-8 tapes or HDV split for HDV Tapes as you have to get footage to the pc first. I want to capture lossless and SSD space is not a probelm. Help anyone. Thanks very much in advance. Roy

Hello my friend I have a question. I have the same problem diminishing eyesight. I have been considering getting one of these monitors for my Sony nx5u video camera which does have HDMI output. Would you know if I would be able to see the cameras menu to that monitor ? That's what I want to do more than anything. Thanks. Keith

Great stuff. I'm now busy transferring my dv and having tapes from the 2000s shot on Sony cameras. Interesting how all the non Sony tapes are full of dropout and breaks. Particularly Maxell.

Do you think it didn't work because it was a dual card adapter or because it was micro sd instead of SD? I'm considering the single micro sd adapter but havent seen anyone use one.

i might be a little late but: sony tends to use neutrik connectors. you can swap out the metal housing for a right angled one without de- or resoldering anything.

What does 'drum run' mean?

It's a miracle that this unit work... When we see thé exterior aspect... Need to process at a deep cleaning and maybe repaint... Thanks for sharing that.
