clean as a whistle

There used to be a great record shop right there on 2nd street. I used to save part of my lunch money & paper route money and get stuff there in the early 80's. Good to see the Taco Hut still surviving after all these years. Living on the Northside off Lakeview, it was a thing to walk all the way downtown during the summer. It was probably...maybe 2.5 miles one way, but you just laced them up and trekked down there. There was a little magazine shop right before you go underneath that old railroad bridge to get to the Cycle Shop...forgot the street. I used to buy wrestling magazines there. Across the street was a little ice cream place that had a Q-Bert video game. Looking on google maps they are both boarded up buildings now. Great video!

Lucille Ball was born in Jamestown Its one of those old manufacturing towns that grew up along The Erie Canal

This one is actually super emotional. My grandma and grandpa used to life right there on Anderson Avenue across from the footbridge. I think maybe my uncle still owns it? Either way, for years when I was little my grandma and I would walk across the bridge to a small store and I'd get a comic book and some candy. Then we'd go back and watch an inappropriately scary (for a 7-8 year old) movie! In the morning we'd go pick wild berries, and then off to Falconer park. Best times.

When I ran for JHS in the 80's part of our cross country course ran up that full hill...TWICE! It was the ultimate, brutal home course advantage. That was well before those dorms went up.

This is awesome, thank you! I am old enough to remember when they built the "new" Wash school! Went to Euclid as well...what a beautiful old building. I lived over on Towner through HS and imagine...walking to Euclid through blizzards in the 70's! Love hearing the snow underfoot as well. Keep these coming if you can.

Another good one! I wonder if we know each other? In 1980, I was 2 and my family would have just moved into a house on Regent St - just up the hill from your place on 17th. Lived there until 1997, so lots of fond memories of these old stomping grounds! N. Main was always considered the line between the nicer parts of the north end and the "hood". There was a big brown house in that big empty lot on N. Main and 17th, and it was always a shitshow. They obviously tore it down. Loud parties, fighting, cops, ambulances, and every manner of madness at all times. Thanks for the (virtual) stroll down memory lane!

Man…I know every crack in every slab of concrete, along this route. The preview frame of this video (Chestnut) is the strip of sidewalk that I learned to ride a bike on. My grandmother owned the house directly in the left, and my dad lived in the corner house for years. Thanks again for doing these!
