A cold morning graft for a few fish at a local pond #pondfishing #carpfishing #carp
zhlédnutí 298Před dnem
It was a rare dry July day with little wind in Adelaide today, so I grabbed my gear and headed down to a local pond early for a couple of hours fishing. Given the wintery conditions, I wasn't expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised to get a couple for my efforts and was home well before lunchtime. ...... and this time, I DIDN'T forget to plug in the microphone ......
Feeding the Pelicans - Blanchetown Murray River S.A. #murrayriver #carp #pelicans

Doug and I headed to the Murray River at Blanchetown, S.A. for a morning's carp fishing. While the fishing was not exactly spectacular, we did manage a few fish and the local pelicans were very appreciative of the free feed on offer, clearly they are finding it hard to get a meal at the moment. The water is very clear right now and the river in general looks to be in quite good condition. Sorry...

Doug and I have struggled a bit with local fishing over the past few weeks now that the usual winter conditions have properly kicked in. Apart from being cold and wet, winter weather can often be not very conducive to good results as the fish feed less and are generally less active than in the warmer months. This is a video of two of our recent trips and the results were, let's say, not quite u...

And on the third day ..... I went salmon fishing again! I just knew Doug was gearing up for something funny at the 19min mark rushing to put his beanie on. Shame about the muddy microphone as it dampened the video quality. • @captainfrank01
      @captainfrank01 Před 25 dny

      Yes, original GoPro audio (especially when in a housing) is pretty ordinary. I have tasked Doug with reminding me if I forget to plug in the external mic, which is just so easy to forget in the excitement of getting a line in the water. Given the Crows performance this season they need all the support they can get, Doug's been threatening to do that for a while. Maybe I should have just edited it out ..... That's not a bad idea about doing a video about the gear - I will put it to him and see if he's prepared to give away a few trade secrets 😎 He's such a shrinking violet he might just be too bashful 😂 or not.

      Reading a beach is really pretty simple (plenty of videos on YT to help you out). You are looking for the deeper blue water where fish will school up to feed - colour, lack of white water, where the waves don't break until close to the beach etc. Best spotted from a position of height like sand dunes behind the beach. Have a look at the drone footage from the start of the previous two videos and it will show up quite clearly.

    Great session. I was going to ask you if you'd ever bled and prepared them so that they were ok to eat but I figured that you would just point out that you had a fridge/freezer full of Flathead fillets so I didn't bother.🤣🤣 Thanks for the video.

    Hi Frank, I have a question, where could I catch carp or redfin? I live in Fullarton and there are no lakes nearby, do you know any spots? If you dont know any spots, or if they are secret I dont mind, but if you want to tell me a spot I will give you my email so you dont have to publicly spread the spot. Thank you and awesome video by the way! It earnt my subsciption!

      Welcome aboard. Frank is a great bloke and makes some top notch content. Pleased you found him. I cannot help out with any spots in Adelaide area, sorry, but I do hope you find a few. I am in Canberra and carp and reddies are my go to fishing. Carp fillets also make awesome baits for the salt water, which you are close to also. Good luck, may you catch a whale!

      @@AndrewFishman Thank you! Can you eat carp?

    • @AndrewFishman
      @AndrewFishman Před 2 měsíci

      @@SouthAustralianAdventures YOu can, and many people do. It is the most widely farmed fish in the world. The Romans introduced it to ancient Britain as a food fish. However, you do need to treat it right, bleed it and stuff. I am not an expert as I do not eat any fish at all. However, I know people who really enjoy it. Malu Hunter was telling me a couple of trips ago that he had carp for dinner a few nights before prepped by a friend of his, and he said it was delicious. I will find out more if you want.

Baby red fin are from this day forth to be known as "Robbies". They rob you of the bait, well, that's the official reason 😆But, if ya know, ya know, right?
