I like speedruns and I like Katamari
mas8 no boost fast thing
save roughly 5~ secs.
so its been known that this ramp gives you a set programmed speed, instead of working like all the other slopes in the game. but after watching shamana accidentally touch it at about 2m big and getting sent off of it really fast, i was like huh. lemme see if you can actually get a path from the ramp to where you need to go. and its pretty reliable assuming you dont run into any cars. the mikoshi should be out of the way unless i just havent made it there on good enough of a cycle yet

done using rta start (not lining yourself up and waiting for cycles before the timer starts) I do this cause il grinding is mostly used for practicing for rta runs for me although i do admit i did want this wr. anyway this was sloppy and with some better execution and maybe some better decisions/strats could be 3:3X

Most definitely. Although when you’re done rolling there’ll be no one left to prosecute so I guess it’s all good

This is so important for all players! I didn’t even know there were 3 types of boosting, literally I was wondering why my boost was so slow when starting ALAP 1 to beat my PR

A run worth uploading indeed! That was great! And yet it shows how you'll get deep into the mid-44s and beyond. Keep it up!
you ever try royal warps to skip travel? I accidentally dropped through the level once while loading and it put me deep into the next area. Happened while I was climbing a short wall as soo as the screen fully faded out, then once it loaded in I fell through the floor and it popped me out on the other end of the map.
We've tried it in a couple areas, especially were we know a setup to royal warp, it's just hard to make it save any time, as you usually end up really small wherever you warp. I'm sure there is a strat out there that's good, idk tho
I forgot to mention one thing in the tutorial. On ALAP5/AFAP5, once you get past 60m, the minimum activation for a boost is 5 clicks of the sticks, not 3

Thank you, it's mostly loading and select meadow movement, being so fast with the new fans menu. Also mashing is much faster now with the new tech where you left click + spacebar mash

Very good video. The level 1 boost can sometimes be a 1 2 flick of the sticks.
I think any boost that comes out at two flicks are when you're turning in a direction. So say im holding a left turn, i flick right and then left, it comes out. its kind of 2 flicks, but its still the 3 inputs. could be wrong though

Congrats on WR anyway, lol. I've been having a rough time getting used to this as well. I'll just say that I wish playing this after WLK was comparable to playing KD REROLL after KD, but IMHO it just isn't.
I spent about a month derusting on wlk and personally I think it feels identical. Just the object hit boxes feel different.

an update about this route: its easier than relying on the eggplant, and thus relying on butterflies being nice. more consistently leaving early area, and becoming bigger, but simply capping your overall timesave doing the normal route. i see it as a good rta strat that is maybe 1:02/03 able? i have gotten a 1:07 without much trying, and my pb is 1:05 with the normal route
