After 9 years in software development I suggest the next solution: 1) for 7 perpendicular lines 7-dimensional geometry can be used and/or projective geometry (so technically, "ignore geometry" may be a common sense as you think only in terms of Euclidian one) 2) for "transparent red" you can use an infrared ink which is technically red (if any questions regarding "infra-", you may call it "infra-red (tm)" - your marketing team should do its job well with this) and invisible to humans, therefore you have the right to call it transparent. 3) for "red lines drawn with green ink" that's harder, as you can't just make any green light red, but again, the solution from 2nd point comes up: we can add another layer of ink on top, to cover the line with the infrared ink on top - technically, the original line is drawn by green, but in fact the top colour is red - if you're a being who can perceive infrared or you have a special camera, you'll see infra-red 4) as for the straight lines in the form of a kitten, you may create a set of black holes, that curve the space (if your budget is limited, you may use neutron stars, but beware of magnetars). For an outside observer, straight lines may look like a kitten because of gravitational lensing. For PoC you may want to use a curved glass to understand whether the research applies to your project and while you're waiting for BH to be created.

*Me drawing the perpendicular lines as they have asked* ‘There’. *They* ‘No. The lines should be red’. ‘Do you have a red pen?’ ‘No’. ‘I promise you that this can be drawn with a red pen’. ‘Are you trying to be clever? You need to work on your attitude’. *My eyes fill uncontrollably with tears* ‘You need to see a doctor. You are depressed’. ‘I am not depressed… Look. I will go to the stationary cupboard to get a red pen, and I will show you’. *They murmur to each other* ‘She’s autistic. Obsessed with red pens. We need to keep an eye on her so she doesn’t eat it or something’. ‘So… What would you like me to do?’ ‘We told you already’. This is an extreme, but it happens in one form or another ALL THE TIME. I am frightened and despaired. This has to stop.

This is an XY problem and maybe a terminology problem. They are specifying how they want something done (green and transparent ink) rather than what they want done. They are using the term "line" but assuming it has the properties of a curve. They might not understand the difference enough to specify what they want, or they might want the properties of both, in which case a different solution needs to be found. I also get the impression they got the specs from someone else from their company who didn't explain in detail what was needed. The solution is to ask for more context on what their goals are.

Our department needed a large air handling unit. Another department was replacing their fairly new unit. That department agreed to “sell” our department their unit for good consideration ($1). This entire process took less than one hour instead of several years. All that was left was to move the unit about 800’, and then a crew to complete the installation. At this point I was told the project needed to be assumed by the Chief Logistics Officer in charge of Project Killing. The building was suddenly decommissioned about a decade later. No air handling unit was ever installed. True story.

I cringe so much at this! Because I have been the idiot in the room for no fault of my own. In my situation the roles were flipped - the customer was more of an expert than the management consultants that were hired - I was on the consulting team. I cringe so much at the BS they had to endure because of us. I did good work on the things I chose to work on, but some tasks were pushed at me and I was positioned as an expert when neither I nor anyone else on the team had a clue what we were talking about. So very glad I left.

You can draw 7 perpendicular lines, you just need 7 dimensions. Through the power of projection & perspective geometry, you can represent 7 dimensions in just 2 dimensions. As such, you can have 7 perpendicular lines. For an example of 3 perpendicular lines I will refer you to the perspective cube For an example of 4 perpendicular lines I will refer you to a tesseract This can the be extended to a 7 dimensional hypercube. Take just one of the corners & you have your 7 perpendicular lines.

As a good engineer, you don't question their requirement, but you try to figure out where they come from and what their target is, as said, the overall picture. Most of the time you will find out that there was a general misunderstanding and you can solve thr problem different, in the example by using 4 dimensons.
