Trollfjord | Lofoten
Trollfjord, one of Norway's smallest fjords, is a hidden gem located on the Lofoten Islands. This 2 km long fjord, only 100 m wide at its narrowest point, offers breathtaking scenery and a rich history. Accessible only by boat, we chose Øykongen for the best value trip from Svolvær. The tour, lasting just over three hours, showcases the stunning landscapes of Lofoten and the dramatic history of the Battle of Trollfjord in 1890.
Our journey through Trollfjord included spotting sea eagles and experiencing local wildlife up close. The narrow fjord, often visited by the Hurtigruten, has a history of rivalry and survival, making it a must-see. Don't miss the iconic Fisker Kona statue at Svolvær harbour, a tribute to the fishermen's wives. 🦅🚤🇳🇴

    As far as I know, only one person died near the tongue (was not even on it anymore when she felt down) so far, it is one too many, but you made it sound more dramatic than necessary. Also, the hike is so popular in summer (I did it last week), that doing it alone without a guide was not that bad as you are not quite "alone" anyway.

    There's one mistake that maybe not very many tourists make, but that could be fatal, and that is underestimating the danger of nature. The natural surroundings in much of Norway are very different from what most tourists are used to. The terrain is steep, there's often no guardrail even on maintained paths, usually no lights, and the weather can and does change very fast. Always pack a rain jacket for your hike,tell someone where you are going, and listen to local advice.

    • @XploreNorway
      @XploreNorway Před měsícem

      I think the boat, as it is scenic all the way. The train is very scenic between Flåm and Myrdal. The bus is the least. If you are on a budget don't stay in Flåm. From my research every tourist wants to stay there, and thus the prices are accordingly. (I never stayed in Flåm)

      @@XploreNorway Thank you very much, agree that Flåm stay would not be reasonable. If one wants to do a budget scenic trip, making most of it in Norway, could it be to do Oslo to Bergen line, stay in Bergen, then Bergen to Flåm and back on the same day in Bergen. Do that Myrdal to Flåm but I guess one has to get to Voss first from Bergen perhaps? Lastly, the Rauma line (Dombås to Åndelssen) but not sure if all of this can be done staying in Bergen only?
