I purchased one and will use it next week. I’m 6’3” and am a little concerned about the height - or lack thereof. I can always change clothes while lying on the floor though. Lol!
@@easy56wedge put a cot in there
@@camfromgmI’ve got a thick foam sleeping mat to use. Originally bought it for the back of my Highlander SUV thinking I could just sleep in there. Laughable! So I bought the tent.
Could you fit a cot inside ? Cot is 7’ long x 45” wide
@jsf8145 yes...and I do!
@@camfromgm I’m a little concerned about the fiberglass poles. Pretty much sold on the tent layout, but not a fan of fiberglass. Have the fiberglass tent poles held up pretty good over the years? Do they make replacement poles?
@jsf8145 The poles for this price point should most certainly be aluminum. These fiber once have shock cording that keeps snapping, then you have to try and re-thread them with new cord. The poles have held so far. The tent layout is pretty cool but the better tent for similar price point is the Alaskan Guide 6 man (the green one - watch vid!) I profile here on my channel also. And yes, one can always order more poles.
Im Earls son. I own the place next door. The lodge is now owned by the Waldhalm family.
Came here from your google review lol thanks for the all the great info!
@ivy_2300 enjoy my friend. If you're into hiking, check out the "Border Route Trail" at the end of the Arrowhead there....great hiking, great vistas. You can go East or West....I recommend going West on it!
Thank you for the honest full review
I have that same motor on a Lowe 17ft all aluminum
Yours looks like its bran new, did u restore it?i bought this same boat last summer for $300 had to put new shift cables and im gonna rubber coat the floorr and new seats but they are great running little boats i haveva 70hp evinrude and its a 16 ft
Where did you get your front seat cushions?
Wonderful Pics
I am delighted to see the transition from MacFarland to Pine Lake.
Thank You - very scenic and remote: I like it.
Love the video.
I have basically the same identical boat, what mount did you use for the small outboard you have on it? I have a little 4hp I’d like to attach the same way.
Just google kicker motor bracket and you can find one there. Make sure to get one that can support your motors weight - very important
Thank you!
Thank you
How many people dose it hold
4.....I think it is best for two adults, 2 children
It’s Green alright
This honestly is just a stupid tent. Who wants to be in a tent and where you can’t zip down any part of it and be able to get a cool fresh breeze inside? I want to have a little bit of a view if it’s early in the morning, but I don’t wanna quite get out of the tent yet. I want to be able to zip it down and look outside, this just looks like a extra large coffin
Totally agree...it gets hot in there too
Did you end up doing an after use review video?
How is the flooring
I would say your Merc is a 79, not a 78, based on the Cowl Decal, and a 78 would have been a 700, not a 70
Cameron, How's the boat running? I have a SeaRay 77' SRV240. Solid old boats.
So what's the status of the boat
im resotring the same boat right now! That glove box, I thought the same thing but im pretty sure the trim piece is just cut at and angle so thats why the glove box looks crooked.
Can you do the Royal river backwards, in another words from Fowl lake west towards where you started, or is the current too swift to go upstream?
Yes, easily and I have many times
Enjoyed all your videos on this tent. I was wondering did you ever look into getting a footprint to for this tent. If so which one did you get.
No..have not invested in a footprint. Thank you for watching!
these were rough running cranky motors and INCREDIBLY overrated in the HP department. once propshaft HP came onto the scene around 1985 , these were downgraded to 50hp. unbelievable.
Try trimming that motor up. You have it trimmed down too much. Spray should be behind the middle of the boat
Did you have to do any transom repairs? I have a 1974 15' starcraft american that has some transom rot. Any advice would be appreciated
I can send you a pic of cabin in and out so you can get an idea
I love mine too. I bought off an auction my friend knew, the guy that owned it. He passed away and everything one peace and just waiting for spring.
I have one all together runs floating.
Made in China no thanks
Is there a place to cliff jump from on the island? I thought I saw video of people jumping off what looked like a 20 foot cliff on this island. Can you pitch a tent off the tent pads if you have more than 2 tents or is it against the rules?
Yea there are rock structures where you can jump off into the water. Secondly, if you have more tents than available tent pads perhaps rent a lager site dunno....but you CAN pitch off of a tent pad but generally you shouldn't. I have before lol - like if your tent is LARGER than the provided tent pad ect
im working on 15.5 starcraft capri tri hull and a 16 ft sea sprite deep v. both have older 70 evinrudes. boats in good weather, trains in winter.
Very nice. Which do you like better of my two?
@@camfromgm well i live in buffalo -lake erie- which is firmly for the sea sprite deep v. otherwise in algonquin or adirondacks the trihull is the small lake choice.
i like them both! super clean. i pull up with my trihull and its funny the reactions i get tied up around all the newer expensive boats.
@@geodot595 ty....
Hey, I have the same boat and I’d like to mount a small 4hp I have. Any chance you could share the details of how you mounted yours? What mount you used?
Did you eat fish
Yes!
@camfromgm I'm glad. I hate sport fish. You have rad awesome cool voice.
If your waiting more than 10 minutes go ask someone. You should have looked for manager or owner.
I have the same machine same exact color but a 93 with 3400 MI. I live in northern Indiana and have not been able to use it because of lack of snow. I believe my slides are gummed up now because I have no throttle response.
Nice.....yea mine mainly needs a tune up but has not run for about 5 yrs

I also live in MN and am considering getting an Overland. Are you pretty happy with yours? Any issue with heat on the side? Thanks
I am happy with it. The new ones have a new 4 wheel switch on the handlebars that I like much better that the 2020's on back. And it gets better fuel economy than I expected. And the removable cargo boxes are fantastic and do not move in transit no matter what. Yes, the heat is noticeable on the right side of the bike - especially when wearing shorts...but at higher speeds even trail riding its really not that bad. I love my bike. See other vids on it here as well OR check out my NEW channel I created simply for the bike and all the adventures I take with it at: Cams Backcountry Overland Adventures here on CZcams :)
I may have sent you two responses to this cause I hit subscribe while I was typing to you. Oh well... anyway, what did you mean about a 4 wheel switch? what does it do?Thanks again@@camfromgm
@charleshorwitz7214 On the right handlebar there is a way to change from two wheel drive to four wheel drive...it is a switch you move. There was a redesign of this switch beginning in 2022 and it is better than the old design.
I have the 16 ft muskie u have , i bought for $300! The 2 stroke 70 hp evinrude motors are like tanks . i had to put bran new shift cable in , other than that i just gotta do apolstry and re coat the floor , the floor is still solid . these are really cool boats
That's awesome...I wish I could see it! Yea I love my little Muskie....never gonna sell it
@@camfromgm pretty much the same as yours , same color on the hull , only difference is the motor , mine has a 70 hp. Evinrude 3 cyl 2 stroke . and u got the 70hp mercury 2stroke
@user-ri9hb6th1w OH ok I see...nice. what color top and is it still in good shape? I actually need a new one for mine.
@@camfromgm i dont have the bimimi top for my boat either , ill be scavenging the internet for one . was thinking about installing a detachable ski rack on it for my kids .
the nose digs a lot; the motor is set incorrectly
Nope....motor was set just fine. However the motor was only running on 3 cylinders....but I did not know that at the time of this video.
we caught many walleye out of moose,I think the canadians made ron hucal remove his boats as they didnt allow boat storage in there parks.there is also a campsite by that bigger rock that is on the edge of the lake.we spent many of days enjoying this area.we were able to use boats with motors on the canadian side of the lake, but not on the minn.side.I remember one day it was so foggy that you couldnt see 10 feet in front of you almost all day.super quiet and peaceful.
we used to go there when it was called rons lodge.ron hucal owned it and was always a great host.there used to be a 3rd cabin ,your video brings back memories.ron had boats up on moose lake,I have a walleye on the wall from moose lake,it was always fantastic fishing.I wonder who owns it now?
I'm not sure who owns it now. At the shooting of this video it appeared vacant. And I do know it was up for sale for $1 million at one point....I actually saw it for sale for a million dollars! Btw did you ever know Earl...the owner in the 80's on back?
Nice truck man! Do you mind sharing the Lug Nuts types you used conical?
They came with the wheels....which are "Fuel" brand lug nuts
Guaranteed that mercury will blow up unless you maintain the thermostat
you sound like a little girl
been there a few times, the portage is a rough one.we used to go to rons lodge in sept.make sure you go up to moose lake.walleye fishing gets even better
you people are horrible lazy not hunters what your doing ruins things for every one😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Not as bad a sitting in one spot lol
I replaced the hooks on the fly with carabiners. The hooks were catching on the poles as I was draping the fly.
What a great idea!
I love both of these boats ! I have the 16 ft crestliner muskie i have , but i do really love the difference in the way 60's and 70's look they are just awesome. I thought the tri hull would be rough but it rides on the water just fine ...
