I was 13 when I saw the movie. I felt love for the first time with this song. I was in love with the boy next door. The extra pain was that I identified with Tammy… it was the first 45 I ever bought, and I played it over and over and cried and cried. I felt my love would hear my crying and come and hold me. My father has just left my mother for another woman. My mother started going out with other men. Having wild parties and I saw her take a man into her room next to my room I cried and cried until the next morning. My mother did come into my room Finally. I confess to her my deepest thoughts about my neighbor. She met her factly said that they had happened to her with her own mother and another man. No empathy, no sympathy. She said I’m taking you to psychiatrist. “This is what happens to boys, whose father leaves.” she never accepted it never.

I'm probably just impossible to please, but I haven't found any Jesus films quite coming up to the level I'd wanted. Sometimes it's the costumes, sometimes it's the direction or the staged feel, I don't know. The best I've seen is probably Ben Hur or The Last Temptation of Chris in terms of being superbly directed.

I’m not sure that the real Jesus had blue eyes, but I am sure that he is very handsome and rugged looking.
