This song is not a love song, it refers to the break up of the singing group The Bee Gees. "How Can You Mend.." was never released a single by Stax Records, later in 1978 Vogue released it as a 45 rpm. This tune was written after a breakup of the Bee Gees. “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”, originally released by The Bee Gees, was the lead single on the Bee Gees album Trafalgar. Primarily written by Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, this song was the groups first U.S. number one hit! The song was written after a period of distance between the brothers. The writing of the song helped bring the brothers back together. Billboard ranked the track as No. 5 song for the year of 1971. Lyrically, the song is genius. Its central question about how to mend a broken heart is answered in one word never actually uttered by Robin Gibb: Love. Barry and Robin wrote the song as they were bringing the band back together after the Bee Gees had split up. It really is a song about the brothers and for the brothers but it reflects the universality of sorrow being vanquished by joy, the joy of love. This most human of truths will remain a constant as long as people live. Al Green's one and only number one hit was in 1972, Al Green went to No. 1 on the US singles chart with "Let's Stay Together," his only US chart topper. This performance was in New York City, New York, not Soul Train. This is most likely from the program "Soul!" it was a pioneering performance/variety television program in the late 1960s and early 1970s produced by New York City NET and PBS outlet, WNDT, which later became WNET during its run. It showcased African American music, dance and literature.

I thoroughly enjoyed the reaction ladies...I was brought up with listening to the beatles in my household and absolutely loved them, the amount of fantastic hits and albums they produced was nothing but short of remarkable(probably one of the greatest bands of all time)My uncle who passed away in 2020 was "The secretary of the Beatles fan club" for the west of scotland during the 60s, had saved a-lot of their Memorabilia, and was also very fortunate enough to have met them during that period...So every-time i listen to them it reminds me of happy times i had with both my uncle and father who passed away also🙏❤all the best from London uk 👍

Great reaction! I remember vividly when the Beatles first became to the notice of the listening public. I'm 73 now and they are, literally, the soundtrack to my teenage years. And, the more I listen to their music, the more it speaks to me. It's great to see younger people coming to their music and realising just how good they were. As for this clip, it's from the famous 'rooftop concert' and was, I believe the very last time they performed in public.
