This is a systematic method for adjusting the oboe using very few tools, and minimal use of the feeler gage.

    Dear Sir, Thank you. I had wobble of the c resonance. It was horrible. The oboe plays beautifully now. You are kind and a great teacher. God bless you.

    My oboe has a Philadelphia D key. Would include adjusting this key in your descriptions? Thank you

    Hello John, I wonder if you could help me please. I can't get any low notes from G down or top D. Has a spring gone?

      Try doing the top joint instructions, then try it again. If there is still a problem the arm from the F# to the G# may be too tight. Remember these adjustments only work if the pads of the oboe are sealing.

    Hi there, my low C key isn't working properly. Instead of getting the low C note, I'm hearing a C above the staff. Could you please help me?

    Great video! Thank you very much. I am teaching in a small town in South Dakota and started a very good student on oboe. The instrument went out of alignment quickly and I was able to realign the keys well watching this video, even though our school's student oboe is a little different than the oboe in the video. Well done.

    Hi John. My C-D trill key does not work. Please be so kind as to advise on which screw/s need to be adjusted. I play a Buffet student model Oboe.

    Hi there, hope you can help me. My oboe is like ½ note under the real note ( if I play B it sounds Bb) How could I solve it?

    About your C#... Sometimes a C# can get a fuzzy or hissy sound that comes from the 1/2 hole (diamond hole). If you play the C#, and close the 1/2 hole while playing, and the sound or feel improves, then this is likely the issue. It is also possible that the C# pad doesn't open the correct amount, or that there is a leak further up the instrument. I can't tell for sure what the issue is without seeing the oboe.

  • @oboedr
    @oboedr Před 12 lety

    It controls the bridge adjustment between the joints. There must be a small space between the F# key foot and the bridge key. Otherwise the small pads on the top joint that open for Bb and C will stand open.

    John, what is the function of the screw directly below the one for the adjustment of the pads Bb and C? (the one on the wedged up bar) Thank you for your super videos! Never occurred to me to adjust the top joint in such a manner.
