Quand ont pense que chef d oeuvre à été trouvé par James Maison l acteur qui avait acheté cette Maison de Buster Keaton il retrouva ce film en nitrate en état de décomposition heureusement le film pu être restauré ont voi par moment qu' elle stigmate de la décomposition au début du film . Un film formidable du maître buster keaton.

This is the best or second best version. Many have inferior musical accompaniment. Here the organist/music tracks the action appropriately and adds to the film. Same with The Cameraman where the new orchestral score detracts from the action wherein the original score added immensely. The original scored version was removed from CZcams. Very unfortunate; however, I downloaded it over 15 years ago (I first laughed hysterically seeing it in Los Angeles with a live organ accompaniment in the 1980s).

I asked my 105 year old grandpa what his earliest memory was and he said going to see my first picture with my father. I asked him what movie. He couldnt remeber the name but knew it was Buster Keaton. I showed him a few films until we watched this one and he said "This is it! Thats the one!!". We watched it together last night and had such a laugh together. What a work of art!! This mornining he passed away from his from Mealonoma. His earliest and last memory were of the same. RIP Grandpa John

I can only imagine the joy and laughter of people in the past watching this. It makes me sad as someone born in the 21st century, a someone who's mind has been ruined by internet, humanity's worst and best invention, an algorithm that runs on reactions, a devil which treats dopamine as a currency to trade for engagement. We live in an era in which art is an entertainment and entertainment is an art. What happened to us?

We always looked at the past as old and considered our own time as modern, but watching this movie makes me feel incredibly creative. It also makes me realize that time has no meaning. Should we be sad, cry, or laugh?🎉

Sadly Buster Keaton made this film in his spite for his wife and his in laws. They treated him badly using his star status for their social climbing while ignoring him completely and never gave him his due respect for his talents.

Wow, bunch of babies whining about blackface. Grow up. That was the society he was reflecting. And Buster Keaton is the only silent filmmaker that not only acknowledged minstrel shows in his movies, but regularly included black people in his movies, instead of as if they didn’t exist. He knew and appreciated black entertainers as mentors as a lifelong vaudeville performer.

To think, that this was what people thought were ‘movies’ 100 years ago. Mr. Keaton had a knack for telling stories through silent film. He only very seldomly went to caption- often the captions were printed pieces of paper or other props that aided in the storytelling. If humankind had never made the discovery of recorded and reproduced sounds, where do you suppose we would be today?!? Keaton was something else, with an immense imagination. A few generations have come and gone since his time, but I think that he is only just most recently reaching his intended audience.
