Did my Peugeot 306 pass its NCT/MOT Re-Test?
I will like to buy a Carina E from Ireland
That car still has life, gave it a second chance to be on the road again.
Ah what?
2.0 carina e, '97. It was regularly backfiring when I bought it, replaced plugs&cables yet it turned out to be oil leaking into the distributor. Replaced it & now drives great, hassle-free . Its quite a peppy engine, specifically when using the overdrive :). Fully agree with you, seats are absolutely great for my sore back!
It is crap, but very lovely.
I love my old Carina2, I never found a love for the Carina e tho. I rate my 1990 carina higher than my 2006 Honda Accord s too…
Nice car in its day
What happened?! Building works near you throwing up dust? Or farmers?
(Check oil level too.... :) ) VERY useful advice for any Rovers... :)
I love seeing things like this and wondering what they were... and the history of why if came to be left there... Maybe "Broke down" and then forgotten about... or dumped by someone and as it was out of the way no-one chassed up on removing it.
This is exactly the problem mine has currently on both sills. I'm looking at £2,000 as I need complete new entire sills and for new holes to be drilled and then welded onto the chassis.
Ouch! I ended up selling that 600 to a friend who could weld. He then discovered a hole in the bulkhead and scrapped it 😢 hope yours doesn’t suffer the same fate
Didn't realise you had Fred Astaire tap dancing in your engine bay. ;) Could be worse, the tapping noise could be coming from the bottom of the engine. :O
You’ve made a great car of it 👏
I was there that day. That's me with my motorbike helmet in hand around 19:10. I move to the US the next year - that's a crazy blast from the past - thanks for uploading!
My pleasure. Amazing you found yourself in it!
Awesome Mighty Streetwise. :)
Just bought a Mk2 2004 Clio 182 for 2 grand. Couple of body bits needing done and wheels are needing changed but what a fun thing to drive! Bang for buck the old Clio's are great!
Ah, in chod we trust.
🧙♂️
What's the modern?
Volvo C30!
@@CrapCarCollective Ace choice. Will we see a video on it?
Is one car a fleet 😂
It is a lot less stress tho!
The Twingo from the same generation is great too. But you won't find one for 250 that's for sure.
Think you have a leak there
A minor liquid related ingress
@@CrapCarCollective couldn't have put it better myself
i have a 1999 1.4 16v with 100hp and its awesome, my gearbox is also on its way out though

If a Jobs worth doing... it's worth Rover-ing it. :) Great fix.
Going Rover & above repair expectations 🤔🙄👍
Wonder how that road and the surroundings would compare to today - almost 30 years later. Fabulous bit of historical footage. I’m guessing the Colt is long gone to its recycling reward? I had a Black Vectra TD then. Pretty sure it’s not around anymore!
This is brilliant and great to see Margaret and Jimmy’s house. Who filmed it?
My dad! With his first camcorder. Got a couple more coming soon
Oh that’s brilliant! Love it - look forward to the others.
Wow, is very rusty unfortunately! Good job. Btw... The Astra? Hope still alive and well, my favourite of the fleet
Good on your for getting stuck in. The 2nd side looked like you had improved a lot. If you are finishing a panel that get's hidden I find seam sealer does a better job of sealing the gaps and covering welds up and provides better rust protection than filler. Also I would recommend get some cavity wax in there or it will rust from the inside out fairly quickly on Irish Roads, Great that you are saving this car and getting it back on the road.
Why do everyone who try do welding keep tacking in stead on doing small runs with a flux wire mig you have to make sure the metal is clean I'm a welder of 25 years and I have a good mig welder machine £300 and mine is gass/gassless (flux wire)and i do use flux wire on body work as saves me gas but body only your less powerful machine on 0.8 not strong enought for the chassis and you no wat im Going to say about your welding your not experienced welder fabricator you should of had a practice on metal before for starting to do the car but don't blame you for having a go
Fair play to you 👍
Wow
🧙♂️
Even looking at the two rear sills, in the second one your welding has improved. "Good enough" is how I'd say - immeasurably better than what it was like while never going to win a concourse competition (but that was never the idea). A great example to not be afraid to have a go yourself. :D
First of the Carina e were built in Japan jti chassis number . English built are sb1 chassis number from 93 on . GTi were all Japanese built
It Pains me to see such a Car abandoned. All the new Cars will never catch up to this beautfiul Car, it is the Most reliable Car i have ever seen. If it werent for Rust my Mom would still drive it today. Most Loyal little Pocket Rocket❤❤ this Nissi got me into Cars
I still have mine, new rear arches, no rust!
Don't get rid of the Astra: it's a great car! You'll regret getting rid of it
£450… 😮that’s for nothing! Well done on a great purchase.. hopefully the timing belt stays in one piece for you!
Great purchase!
Only thing i want to know is how to get those stupid clips off reee
Still see many of these on the road
Octavia
hello, could you please show me where fuel filter is located on this car? :D
Sounds like my car
It's like a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe!
It’s a lil’ guy haha
Sound like it could be the head gasket given it was starting to heat up prior. Anyway its not a massive job to do the head gasket on a TU engine, and they are known for going. I think it would be a shame to not get it done. If I recall you hadn't changed the cam belt, so just treat it as an add-on to a cam belt change.
These engines are known for blowing their head gaskets. Coolant change every 2 years is vital.
