I enjoy seeing techniques used that I have not seen before. I had not seen the type of button making you did, nor the weaving. Very interesting and informative. The sides of the hood turned forward to block the face could be very practical working in the garden in summer and tending animals in winter. Where to put a hood on my very long list of projects I want to do...

I simply cannot imagine how an average working woman of that time could stand wearing all those layers of clothes and still be able to hand wash laundry, cook, cut wheat, garden and just not sweat to death doing it all! Most working classes wore wool , even in summer! Linen and cotton was hardly utilized or affordable to them and only more so in later centuries. Truly a well done and presented video!

I love, love, LOVE that you are focusing on the clothes of ordinary working people. So often we only hear about the wealthier classes (understandably, as those clothes took less wear and were therefore preserved better, and also they were more likely to be captured in paintings) its wonderful to see what our ancestors might have worn!

For the safety purposes. Don't do it inside because of the fumes. You said it yourself and then did the whole video in the kitchen where your parents were moving around and filming without any masks. It is also toxic when it is hot and the fumes can still be around.

  • @asfandyarfarooqi7924

The color actually comes AFTER it is oxidised by the oxygen in the air. You cannot oxidise by getting more air in the water. The process in the water is reduction. It needs to be oxygen less. So let the cloth in the water for longer period of time. And let it air dry outside and not in the shower with closed windows. Also if you dye three clothes in the same dye the third one will be the least dyed because after every round the color pigments are less in quantity.

I absolutely love the dress and the editing ☺️ beautiful photography! The only part I don't quite understand is how exactly you take in the side seams at the waist when the gores have already been sewn in. Wouldn't that mess it up and end in a weird dart kind of situation at the hips?

Elin - I know its been a while since these videos, but I dont have social media and wanted to inform you that an Etsy shop called Deryapattern is using that photo of you in the full kirtle against the fence to sell a "Renaissance Medieval dress pattern." They have cropped off your face but I recognized it. I think they also photoshopped the bodice a bit. I hope you can get it taken down! Hope you are doing well! I, too, often hand sew and took joy in seeing you sew the complete skirt by hand. This is the first video of yours I have watched. I loved that. Wouldn't it be fun to have an outside space where you could boil the water over a fire and get some sort of aid to help you lift the water, etc? I am now going to fall down the internet to find out what that might be, mixing old and modern techniques. a long time ago I made wine, and to get the liquid from one container to another I would use a syphon, I was thinking you could do that with a filter on the end to stop the crud from transferring into your clean pot
