I did see this in the theatre, but I probably only rented it once or twice in the early 90's, therefore there are probably many parts that I have forgotten about entirely, and by that I mean they're not even in my memory banks.
Remake The Darkman!
@@user-en8pi9ln3o oh man! Great suggestion!
aren't remakes and reboots the same thing?
@ryanmatthews3609 not necessarily. My general understanding is that a remake is a new version of the same story, it might make some major changes, but it's pretty much the same idea and usually has the same title [ex. The Fly (1986)]. A reboot is typically a new iteration or continuation of a classic franchise [ex. The Batman (2022), or any new iteration of a comic character]
@@KennyStepsIntoMovies there should really be less reboots in comic books. (like the dc and marvel multiverses for examples)
As a kid I was glad when he died, but now I don’t really think he deserved it. Imagine if in Back to the Future, Marty murdered Biff, it would feel weird and out of place. Biff isn’t a good person but I don’t think he deserves to die and now I think that with Jim.
I guess one difference is that Biff received a come-uppance when Marty accidentally went back in time and interfered with his parents meeting, and had to fix what he'd done, so when he returned to 1985, he was a very different kind of person who treated others more respectfully considering that after George genuinely stood up to him in 1955 by punching him out before he could give him a spiral arm fracture he'd turned over a new leaf and learned not to bully people. (The part when he did become evil was after his 2015 self gave the Sports Book to his 1955 self, causing the alternate 1985, he'd actually murdered George, but they fixed that after Marty retrieved the book from 1955's Biff and then burned it as Dr. Brown instructed him to.)
steel is a classic?????? gtfoh
@maelradec6766 lol, I appreciate the comment! But, if you haven't, I encourage you to watch the video! I actually explain that "Steel" isn't a classic and that's exactly why it should be remade!
Yes! Thank you! I’ve always been down for that idea! Too the point where I thought of an idea for a company that remakes movies that bombed and make them better. I’m even planning to remake an old 80’s movie that bombed years ago when I become a filmmaker. Sorry for talking too much. Just wanted to say that I love that idea. 😅
@Scaargarcia9995 thanks for the comment, dude! Keep me in the loop of any projects you're working on!
@@KennyStepsIntoMovies you’re welcome and thanks! I’ll let you know about new projects and ideas! 👍
Remakes are basically rereleases because since home video exists, rerelease doesn't work as well. So remake creates the illusion of "new film" & old films can be sold again as new.
There's an old obscure film called Star Wars that could use a remake.
@jollygoodfellow3957 Oh, I think I've heard of that one! Is that the one with Captain Kirk and Spock?
A lot of really older films would definitely benefit from a remake. Martin Scorsese does this with his movies all the time. Movies like Silence are absolute classics. Classic movies like Metropolis or Battleship Potemkin could also benefit from a remake and introduce to audiences to some interesting cinema they would not have gotten to explore, otherwise.
Oh wow! That's a great point that I hadn't even considered! Good insight!
I would love a remake of Thinner
I want a killer klowns from outer space remake
How about we stop remaking ANYTHING? I’m over it. The Old Dark House is perfect as-is, and has already had a couple of unnecessary remakes…don’t need another.
@@zozomedia001 I absolutely love the original! Just thought it could make an interesting modern A24 project. I'm definitely more interested in redoing old properties that didn't quite live up to their premises. Even so, I'm still begging for new original stories!
Great video, Kenny! I wouldn't mind remakes of some 50s/60s B movies. Like House on Haunted Hill or Wasp Women. I reallllllllly hated that remake of Nightmare. To this day I'm upset I saw it.
I’d like to see a remake of Jeepers Creepers. I’d also like to see a spin-off of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that follows Carlton going on whacky adventures and being all goofy. Great video, Ken!
I think I’m the only person on the planet who liked the first Suicide Squad movie better than the do-over.
You're absolutely entitled to that opinion! Jai Courtney was also really good, and I still contest Jared Leto could have been a good Joker with better direction.
You sure do love horror films! Looking forward to seeing another top ten list at some point. 😁 WE! WANT! MORE! CONTENT!
I appreciate the support! I'm trying to keep the uploads less than two weeks apart.
Damn! I was just about to say Shadow and Chance from Homeward Bound and that’s your number one. Yes the last scene with Shadow is still one of my favorites. That film was my introduction to the great outdoors that I’ve loved ever since. I’ll give an honorable mention to Wishbone the wise storyteller Jack Russell who always found himself in a good book. Great video bro!
While not a "good boy", I've always liked Muttley from Whacky Races. Hehehehe.
Oh man, he'd definitely be on a list of TV dogs!
@@KennyStepsIntoMovies Skippy from the Thin Man is another good movie dog
I really like Carface from All Dogs Go To Heaven! That was one Mean Pooch!
Great video, Kenny Steps! I would say the dog Hercules (AKA The Beast) from The Sandlot is a great movie dog. Also The dog Chopper from Stand By Me has a very small role but is a great movie dog too. Looking forward to the next video!
Thanks, dude! Appreciate it!
From what I understand, yes, I think so. Here's why. For starters, he was a jealous narcissist who hated Edward just because he was different and treated him like trash. And the way he bullied him became more and more severe throughout the film. Plus he even tried to kill him at the end, he had a gun. Edward was acting in self-defense when he stabbed him with one of his scissors and pushed him out the window of his mansion to his death.
I appreciate your thoughts! Thanks for the comment!
Thank you, and you’re welcome!👍
I know Rocky is only fictional character, but he's 10 times better than the human being than created him
Rocky 1 is my top 2 favorite movie.
Oh wow! That's a coincidence, the original is my second favorite movie too!
Besides Raimi Spiderman Trilogy, the Rocky franchise and Rocky Balboa inspired me as a kid to not only go to the gym, learn the skill of boxing, but it made me want to be a better man.
100%, dude! Glad to hear from someone else with a similar story. Thanks for the comment!
You can only make that trade 3 times 😂
That first date was a little more than "awkward" 😅
Yeah... it's pretty rough...
I wish I snagged this blu ray when it was in the bargain bins. Now we have to sell our info for a free trial STARZ account. Based on these scenes, the chemistry seems natural and I need to see this! Great review Tex!
To be perfectly clear, I'm well aware that Fritz Lang's "M" is an immortal classic and that it's generally more popular than "Stand Up Guys." My point was more that the latter has the mainstream appeal of the cast, while "M" is more of a niche interest, despite its enduring legacy.
Great stuff, Ken! Solid review and I like the corny joke at the end. Keep it up!
I was part of that $5 million box office. Great movie. "Give her your pants!"
Very well made. I was entertained the whole way through. I would say that Mortal Kombat Annihilation is so bad it's good.
Btw I grew up with this movie. If anyone who worked on this movie sees this comment - Well done. Super movie.
I think so. It was self-defence and self-defence is acceptable.
Totally, it was either him or Edward! (Maybe Kim eventually, too.)

Hey! I appreciate it! By all means, share with friends, if you like!
The monotone speech type is doing wonders helping me sleep. Overall, nice vid.
Lol. The deep voice can truly be a blessing and a curse.
Thank you. Attack of the Clones is the absolute worst star wars movie. It's just so boring. Also, I feel like most of the "self aware" sequels are just hollow shells. Notable examples being Zoolander 2, Anchorman 2, and Super Troopers 2
Oh man, I actually really like Anchorman 2. Lol
Easy answer: Yes! He's another dumb jerk who got what he deserved. The second he said or did something that shows how bad he is. I immediately knew he was a goner and I was rooting for it. But with how you preferred an ending like Jim getting arrested for life or died in an accident without Edward causing it like Jim getting clumsy and falls through the window but either way. I'm leaning more into how Jim met his fate. Also, I like how you covered some good history here in cinemas. This film is a classic.
i think his death was ultimately a final corruption of edward, making it so that edward can’t ever truly leave humanity behind because his hands are still stained with the blood of someone he killed. necessary? probably not. for good reason? yes.
YES
Great commentary and gags, Ken! That comment from Ebert js revisionist history. So many of the old film nior and classic horror films end with someone dying. I don't know how he missed that since this movie is like a modern retelling of Frankenstein. Also, good slob reference.
Lol, appreciate it!
100%! He needed to Die! Dude was a complete piece of Shit! Burton has said writing and directing that scene was very Cathartic for him since Jim was based on his High school Bullies! Kudos to Anthony Michael Hall! Very Different Role from what he was known for at the Time! He really Bulked up!
I didn't know those details! Thanks!
Great top 10 list! I'm glad you mentioned The Funhouse. I remember watching it with you when we were kids. Now hurry up and make another video!
