Nice posting on your budget. I live in Glendale on the outskirts of Phoenix north of the 101 and wast of the 17. I have been watching these Expat channels in the Philippines for couple years now. Seriously thinking I would like to give it a try. It's really too hot to go outside in the summer here and I'm getting so tired of just sitting in the house watching TV all day. Gets very boring. I do have a Rzr that I like go trail riding up in sedona and around Quartzsite and up around Payson but it's still just too hot to do that right now. going to give it a good thinking over.
I understand completely- My last job was in Goodyear Arizona 3 years ago-Microsoft data center-electrical-hot as hell. Lol At least give it a go- Let me know if I can answer any questions. Take care Thanks for the comment
thank you, will do, just waiting for my June's electric bill to post, I checked the website and it said $360. Ouch.
@patd4u2 I lived in Palm Springs and my August bill was $1100 My electric here is $140 per month. But I run 3 aircons with no insulation in my apartment, all concrete .
@@maudave $1100 oh my God I shouldn't complain
So happy to not have anymore bills in the states. No more taxes on items. Philippines-the price you see is the price you pay. No hidden costs.
Ignore the trolls ! You are doing great at 56. I retired at 59 and my only regret is that I didn’t do it earlier. We live in central Luzon north of Manila about 4 hours
Appreciate it, I'm not going to waste my time with trolls, childish to respond. lol Thanks for the comment Congrats on early retirement.
The girl in lavender has an infectious smile and laugh
My wife's sister, she has great humor also. Humor runs in the family.
I live in Davao and married for one year. It costs us close to 3K US each month
@@ronniecupstid9955 Wow, High rent? We actually make it pretty easy on 80,000-php per month. The most we have spent with travel is 160,000-php for a month. I guess it all depends on needs and wants in life-everyone is different for sure. I know of 1 person making it on $700-I wouldn’t even try that. Thanks for the comment. We will actually be traveling to Davao next month for a few weeks. Take care
Are you and Mau married?
@@ronniecupstid9955 Yes, Thanks for the question.

Man I am from Seychelles a developing country like the Philippines, this is the same thing here. Foreigners must adapt to the ways of life in the country you choose to live. I have been to western countries lived and studied, for me it was another world coming from a country that was far less developed like theirs. Even with all these setbacks that I may face in countries like the Philippines I will never live my life in a Western developed country, life is sad, on the rush, rat race society and people seem that they lost the real value to live happily. I love all what you said is difficult tooadapt too because this is how I grew up in m🎉y country.
@@charlesetienne6037 Thank you for your comment, as we both agree on the western culture. I just looked up your country, it is absolutely beautiful. Take care

I am one year younger than u and retired. Kids grown up and plenty grand kids. If god permits i will come to the Philippines.
Absolutely, plan a 4 week trip-travel-experience- Or stay longer, if you choose. 60+ days you could probably make a decision to stay, 30 days you’ll need another vacation just to make sure. Let me know if I can help answer any questions. Take care

LOL You learned Mau is the BOSS now life is great!!!!
Yep, I'm tired of being a BOSS. Time to let her run the show and I'll kick back and relax. Best decision I've made.
Just let her think that🤣, I'm sure he is happy and playing along.
I love when she says whatever lol.

Hey Dave you got yourself a real jewel there. You better hold on tight to her with both hands
Appreciate it.
My wife is from N. Samar and we moved from Texas 5 yrs. ago and now live west of Taygaytay. Always cool up here, most of the time. We have been to Samar several times and like it. I agree with you, if you can't adapt to here, don't come. There is no way that you are going to change the culture here. This is my Paradise. Ohhh, I did subscribe and look forward to more videos.
Thanks you for your comment. I keep talking about going a little higher in altitude for some cooler weather. Appreciate the subscribe. Take care

Ive got a Filipina gf that i met online about 1 year ago, its difficult because the time difference between the Philippines and Eastern America She is 38 im 68 , i want to come over but i have pets.i need to board . Any advice on what to bring
Thanks for the question- Just pack for warm weather- How long are you planning on visiting?
You'll figure it out, don't let it get you down, and don't give up! It's gonna take a while but enjoy the trip finding your hobby.
Thanks for the comment. Life is good
Thanks for the video my friend.. I have already plan to trip there.. With my gf.. But, only 1000 budget.. She have 2 girls, 8 and 13..it will be so risky with that budget?? Of course, in 2 years I will increment my pensión in 2.5 k. Or better wait??
$1000 budget would be tight- As long as you have some start up money, so you can purchase your comfort needs- and it takes 4-6 months to settle down on spending. You’ll need $2000 the first 4-6 months, adapting to the foods, and the overall spending habits.
Very cool!
It is amazing Thanks
Awesome, happy for you both!
@@jorgejunco4907 Appreciate the comment.
Very helpful video, thank you! I was wondering how much you budget for health related costs such as insurance, doctor visits, dentist visits etc. Thanks again.
I put away 5000 php per month. $85ish per month. My last doctor visit Orthopedic for knee back- 10 X-rays, doctor visit and prescription was under 7000php $120.00. Dentist is under 10,000 php per year-$170.00. Ear infection-doctor visit and ear drops 1600 php $26.50. Very affordable. Thanks for the question, I’ll do a video soon on outside the home expenses.
Thanks very helpful information!
You are smart bro you made the wise decision when you are here you should live like a Filipino eat the simple foods, take the commute to save on costs so that you can save money and not becomes beggar.

I love how they cooked everything over the open fire. It looks delicious! That coconut tree was no joke! It amazes me how they climb it like it's nothing, "oh, no big deal, I'm going to grab some coconuts." Yikes. Thank you for sharing your family time with us.
@ericg9092 The coconut tree scares the -- out of me personally. It’s hard to video. Before Romeo climbed the tree he prayed. It’s definitely serious. The food is absolutely amazing- True blessing being here.
Oh no! I'm 30 seconds in and I'd be hitting the water FOR SURE. Lol Mau makes it look easy!
She drags me every where. Never a dull moment. Lol
Great info, and thank you for the Wise tip. It sounds like you've built a beautiful family and a good life in the Philippines. Well-done. I wasn't familiar with the Samar area before seeing your videos - it's refreshing to see how inexpensive it can be to live there, and your breakdown of what it's costing you to live there each month is sincerely appreciated. I look forward to your next video.
Appreciate your comment, Take care
Great video. Boredom/sitting around waiting to die is my one concern with retirement, and wondering personally when, or even if I'll ever be able to pull the trigger. How's the infrastructure where you are in regards to internet reliability, electricity, etc.? I'd like to possibly work in a Telehealth environment if possible to stay active, engaged, etc. when I "retire" but it seems like infrastructure in a lot of places makes that a difficult proposition.
@ericg9092 Cebu, has some great areas to live and keep you busy. Plus it has a lot of western culture/foods compared to where I live. I’m in western Samar, not a big city at all. Wi-Fi is good and power doesn’t seem to be a big problem. It’s usually listed if power is going to be interrupted and we pack up and head to the beach for the day. Come over be adventurous/travel and enjoy a few times before you pull the trigger. It gets better every day, as I’m adjusting and loving life. Take care Thanks for the comment/question.
Just found your channel and subscribed. Great video. I have not yet been to the Philippines, but hope to visit in the next year or two and maybe retire there in 10 years or so when I hit 62. You two make a great couple, and it's obvious that you struck gold when you met your Filipina. I wish the two of you much happiness and look forward to watching more of your videos.
